남부지방 서식식물의 유용물질 탐색 Ⅲ : 페놀화합물 Phenol compounds

남부지방에 자생하는 식물체 8종을 대상으로 페놀화합물을 용배분획, TSC등으로 분리정제하고 HPLC로 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 실험대상 식물체 8종 중에서 total phenols 및 축합형 tannin의 함량은 달맞이에서 가장 높았다. 2) 페놀화합물을 유리페놀산 획분, 페놀산ester 획분, 불용성결합형페놀산 획분으로 분리하여 각각의 획분에 대하여 HPLC를 실시한 결과, 식물체 8종에서 유리페놀산 획분의 경우, 주로 발견되는 페놀산은 coumalic acid, catechin, caffeic acid 그리고 cinnamic acid였으며, 페놀산ester획분과 불용성결합형페놀산 획분의 경우는 coumalic acid와 catechin이 주로 발견되는 페놀산이었다. This research was conducted to determine contents of phenol compounds for plants distributed in the sourthern region of Korea. The extracts from each plants were purified by solvent fractionation, TLC and analyzed HPLC. As a result, contents total phenols and condensed tannin were the most highest in Oenothera odorata among the all plants examined. Most of the phenolic acids in free phenolic acid fractions was coumalic acid, catechin, caffeic acid and cinnamic acid, and those in soluble phenolic acid ester fractions and insoluble-bound phenolic acid fractions were coumalic acid and catechin.

The use of cyclosporine(CsA), a potent immunosuppressive agent, is associated with numerous side effects. Neurotoxicity was earlier less well known, but with growing experience central nervous system side effects are now reported up to 40% of patients. Among various CsA-induced neurotoxicities, tremor is most common and posterior leukoencephalopathy is well characterized. An encephalopathy presenting with pyramidal weakness, however, seems to be rare and poorly documented. We report here a case of encephalopathy presenting with multiple generalized seizures followed by fluctuating quadriparesis developed a few days after starting CsA and resolved spontaneously after withdrawal of the drug . A 48-year-old woman with aplastic anemia was placed upon immmunosuppressive treatment consisting of antithymocyte globulin(ATG), CsA, and methylprednisolone. Two days after starting the therapy, she developed a generalized seizure. The next day she developed 2 more episodes of seizure and the therapy was stopped. Computed tomogram of the brain was normal. Six days after starting therapy, she developed mild motor weakness and paresthesia of both lower extremities, which progressed to a definite quariparesis confining her to a bed in 3 days. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of the brain revealed asymmetric, bilateral high-signal abnormalites in the subcortical white matter of fronto-temporal areas. After reaching to a maximum with some fluactuation(14 days after starting the therapy) the motor weakness started to be resolved. She was discharged with a almost complete resolution of the weakness 45 days after starting the therapy. Five months later she did well and brain MRI was negative.
생활하수처리를 위한 CNR Process 설계요소 연구

A biological nutrient removal system combining A2O process with biofilm was studied in this work and the characteristics of nitrogen and phophorus removal was especially investigated for the Cilium Nutrient Removal Process(CNR process). The CNR process consisted of anaerobic, anoxic, aerobic zone in series, and aerobic zone contains packed cilium media. The CNR has benefits in solving the problems which inhibit denitrification and phophorus uptake in anoxic reactor due to the lack of organic compounds. The bench-scale experiment was performed using Tae-jon and Um-am domestic wastewater and the influent was accomplished with step-feed loading to the reactor. Removal efficiency of contaminants including BOD, COD, TN and TP was relatively high.

Fractures of the tibia are frequently encountered in modern civilized society. The treatment of the open fractures of the tibia remains a challenge for the orthopaedic surgeon. Factors that are unique to the open tibial fractures in children are the tibial overgrowth and spontaneous changes in alignment with the growth of the bone, manifested as either progressive angular deformity or correction of angular maiunion. The purpose of this study was to determine the complications and outcome of such fractures in children. Many modalities of the treatment of the open fracture of the tibia in children were introduced. Among them, stabilization of the fracture was achieved with the above-the-knee cast whenever possible. Authors studied 18 cases of the open fracture of the tibia treated at Sung Ae General Hospoital, from Dec. 1989 to Dec. 1991 and obtained follwing results: l. Among 18 cases, 5-10 years old were most common and males were more commonly invovled. 2. The most common cause of injury was traffic accidents as 16 cases (89%). Among the open fracture, type lI was the most common as 8 cases (449o), according to the classification by Gustilo. 3. The average of the overgrowth of the involved tibia was 0.7cm. 4. The average time to union was 16 weeks.
소아 상완골 과상부 전위골절에 시행한 K강선 경피고정술에 대한 임상적인 고찰

Supracondylar fracture of the humerus is the most common fracture of the. elbow in children and it is one of the most difficult fractures to manage because of accompanying complications. Of 69 cases of supracondylar fracture of the humerus in children. 41 cases of displaced supracondylar fracture have been treated and managed by percutaneous pinning after closed reduction at Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Sung Ae Huspital from January, 1988 to December, 1989. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The advantages were stability of fracture, vascular safety, with any permissable position of the elbow, early ambulation and short hospital stay and low incidence of varus deformity in follow up. 2. The complications were median nerve palsy, pin migration and septic arthritis. 3. The results of percutaneous pinnimg were satisfactory in about 92.8%. The stability was satisfactory and there was no defoumity of the elbow. 4. The average duration of periosteal reaction was 18days and bony union was 41days. 5. The final result was associated with initial reduction rather than initial displacement. 6. Follow-up carryig angle was more influenced by postreduction Baumann angle rather than postreduction rotation.

In this study, a solution capable of leaching silver (Ag) from solar cells in an environment-friendly manner was presented, and a leaching effect according to the concentration was evaluated. Generally, a nitric acid (HNO₃) solution is used to leach Ag. However, it often causes environmental pollution owing to its high toxicity and the nitrous oxide (NOx gas) generated during the process, thus requiring considerable development. Accordingly, Ag leaching behavior according to the concentration was confirmed by mixing sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) and hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) solutions. After this process, the optimal concentration condition was derived by confirming the Ag leaching effect through inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) analyses of the leachate. Additionally, Ag removal in the recovered scrap to which the optimal concentration condition was applied was confirmed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM)/energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Conclusively, as the H₂SO₄ and H₂O₂ mixed solution concentration increased, the Ag leaching effect tended to increase, and the optimal condition derived from the analysis reached a level capable of replacing the HNO₃ solution.
