La Productividad en los Distritos Agrícolas de Durango, México

Juana Hernandez Chavarria,Ivan Gonzalez Lazalde,Maria Quetzalcihuatl Galvan Is 한국라틴아메리카학회 2021 라틴아메리카연구 Vol.34 No.3

The objective of this work is to analyze the productivity index of the agricultural districts of the state of Durango, and to identify the influence of education, age and gender. It was started from the alternative hypothesis that the mean distribution is different in the districts and between the categories. The Kruskal Wallis and Wilcoxon tests were applied to identify results in the districts with the highest and lowest productivity, as well as 129 structured questionnaires for producers. The results show that there are differences in productivity between district VI and district I. The results can be explained by the cultivation modality in district VI 60% is irrigated and in district I only 24%when they coincide in the types of crops. No differences are found in the average productivity in relation to the categories. The results show that the factors that are exogenous to the characteristics of the producer are those that have the greatest impact, and it is shown that access to water is one of them.

Characteristics and Nutritional and Cardiovascular-Health Properties of Seaweeds

        Aránzazu Bocanegra,Sara Bastida,Juana Benedí,Sofía Ródenas,Francisco J. Sánchez-Muniz 한국식품영양과학회 2009 Journal of medicinal food Vol.12 No.2

While marine algae have traditionally formed part of the Oriental diet, their major use in Western countries has been in the phytocolloid industry. Only a few coastal communities outside Asia have customarily used seaweeds as components of special dishes. Of late, however, seaweeds have gained importance as foodstuffs in Western countries and most recently as components of functional foods because of their high dietary fiber, mineral, vitamin, and phytochemical content, low energy levels, and high concentrations of certain polyunsaturated fatty acids. The present paper reviews the available data for some of the components of the major edible algae and studies several factors that can affect their physiochemical properties (e.g., hydration, water and oil-holding capacity, fermentability, binding capacity, etc.) and, in turn, their nutritional importance. The effects of marine alga consumption on growth and body weight, mineral availability, lipid metabolism, blood pressure, and antioxidant properties are reviewed, together with preliminary data on the effects of some functional foods containing seaweeds on lipid metabolism and gene expression of enzymes engaged in antioxidant protection. This review concludes with some remarks regarding the danger of the improper use of seaweeds in herbal medications. In addition, as the properties of algae are highly dependent on their individual composition, any generalization regarding these properties may be considered misleading and scientifically inappropriate.

Strength and Corrosion Studies of Mortars Added with Pozzolan in Sulphate Ions Environment

Roxana I. Martínez-Rosales,Juana María Miranda-Vidales,Lilia Narváez-Hernández,Juan Manuel Lozano de Poo 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.24 No.12

The pozzolanic materials have the capacity to modify the performance of Portland cement (PC) mortars. When they are used as supplementary materials, the physical-chemical properties such as compressive-strength and resistance to aggressive environments (chloride, sulphate, acids) are improved. In this article, a study was carried out to evaluate the effects of the addition of two natural pozzolans: volcanic pumice and zeolite. Both used as substitutes for PC in mortars based on cement, considering mechanical strength and the aggressive effect of sulphate ions. Furthermore, the electrochemical behavior of the steel rebar embedded in these mortars was studied during 730 days of exposition to aggressive conditions. The results revealed that the development of the compressive strength of mortars with pozzolans added reached similar values to the reference mortar. It was possible to observe that the addition of the pozzolan suppresses the ettringite formation proportionally to the pozzolan content. The corrosion resistance of the steel improves with the addition of pozzolans after 730 days of exposition at sulphate environment. The results of this study revealed the feasibility to use natural pozzolan as an additive during the preparation of cement up to 25% without significant changes of the physical-chemical properties of the mortars.

A New Mixture Criterion for the Improvement of the Compressive Strength of Adobe Using Zeolite as Stabilizer

Rosa Angélica Lara-Ojeda,Juana María Miranda-Vidales,Lilia Narváez-Hernández,Juan Manuel Lozano de Poo 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.26 No.8

The use of zeolite as a stabilizer for adobe has proven to have the ability to improve its physical and chemical properties. This is shown in the positive results in terms of strength gain and water absorption resistance in adobe blocks. In this work, an investigation was carried out to evaluate the use of zeolite as adobe stabilizer. The adobes were made with two different types of soil with different content of zeolite (5, 10, 15, 20% by weight) maintaining the zeolite-lime ratio 1:1. The samples were tested on compressive strength and water absorption. The deterioration of the adobes was analyzed under conditions of extreme humidity. The results of this study revealed that adobe behavior is influenced by the synergistic relationship between soil, zeolite and lime, showing significant changes in compressive strength even under extreme humidity conditions. It was also observed that the chemical composition of the soil influenced the development of the pozzolanic reaction. The stabilization of adobes with 15% of zeolite showed the best mechanical behavior, before and after deterioration assay. Hence, zeolite promises to be a good alternative as a stabilizer in adobe construction systems.

Review of Assumptions in Simplified Multi-Component and Codified Seismic Response Evaluation Procedures

        Alfredo Reyes-Salazar,Achintya Haldar,Juana L. Rivera-Salas,Edén Bojórquez 대한토목학회 2015 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.19 No.5

Representation of an earthquake by orthogonal normal and principal components, accuracies of several rules to combine collinear and non-collinear responses of MDOF structures, and estimation of the relative importance of the effects of individual orthogonal components are addressed in this paper. Statistically there are no differences between normal and principal components in estimating axial load for the elastic case; the principal components, however, may produce about 11% larger axial load for the inelastic case. There are no major differences in estimating base shear in all cases. To combine the two horizontal components, the 30% and SRSS combination rules underestimate the collinear axial load by about 10%. For the case of three components, the underestimation by the 30% and SRSS rules are about 5% and 10%, respectively. When responses due to axial loads and bending moments are combined, the underestimation could be between 10 and 15% for both combination rules. The assumption that the vertical response is 2/3 of that of the horizontal component appears not to be very conservative. The assumption that the response produced by the minor horizontal component is 85% of that of the major horizontal component appears to be very conservative.

Teaching practice and ICT in Catalonia: Consequences of educational policies

        Alejandra Bosco,Joan-Anton Sánchez-Valero,Juana M. Sancho-Gil 한국교육개발원 2016 KEDI Journal of Educational Policy Vol.13 No.2

This paper reviews policies and practices related to the educational use of information and communication technology (ICT) and its role in improving education in Catalonia. Specifically, it analyzes the ICT educational practices developed at four schools in Catalonia, as well as the educational policies on the integration of these technologies promoted by the Administration over the last 25 years. These analyses indicated that the resulting practices, mostly centred on teachers’ explanation or on teaching software, were in line with policies that have systematically focused on the provision of equipment and the uncritical use of ICT, regardless of actions for improving such practices.

Transvaginal ultrasound versus magnetic resonance imaging for preoperative assessment of myometrial infiltration in patients with endometrial cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis

        Juan Luis Alcázar,Begoña Gastón,Beatriz Navarro,Rocío Salas,Juana Aranda,Stefano Guerriero 대한부인종양학회 2017 Journal of Gynecologic Oncology Vol.28 No.6

Objective: To compare the diagnostic accuracy of transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for detecting myometrial infiltration (MI) in endometrial carcinoma. Methods: An extensive search of papers comparing TVS and MRI in assessing MI in endometrial cancer was performed in MEDLINE (PubMed), Web of Science, and Cochrane Database from January 1989 to January 2017. Quality was assessed using Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2) tool. Results: Our extended search identified 747 citations but after exclusions we finally included in the meta-analysis 8 articles. The risk of bias for most studies was low for most 4 domains assessed in QUADAS-2. Overall, pooled estimated sensitivity and specificity for diagnosing deep MI were 75% (95% confidence interval [CI]=67%–82%) and 82% (95% CI=75%–93%) for TVS, and 83% (95% CI=76%–89%) and 82% (95% CI=72%–89%) for MRI, respectively. No statistical differences were found when comparing both methods (p=0.314). Heterogeneity was low for sensitivity and high for specificity for TVS and MRI. Conclusion: MRI showed a better sensitivity than TVS for detecting deep MI in women with endometrial cancer. However, the difference observed was not statistically significant.
