Benito Cereno와 Uncle Tom's Cabin에 나타난 흑인상

The main purpose of this thesis is to examine the similarities and difference on blak images in Benito Cereno and Uncle Tom's Cabin and to grasp the more trustful meaning of two works. In Benito Cereno Melville presented symbolically the problem of slavery in the middle of the 19th century America through the slave revolt. He showed that the negroes, far from being contented and docile under slavery through Babo, the leader of the slave revolt in Benito Cereno. In Uncle Tom's Cabin Harriet Beecher Stowe Played plenty of stirring and defiant attacks on the evils of slavery. Tom, the hero of Uncle Tom's Cabin, has an important effect on a sterotypical image of blacks, a loyal old slave. In conclusion, we can that Melville showed, opposite to all prevailing stereotypes of his day, uncle Tom, Negroes as multifaceted, complex individuals, capable of both good and evil.

In order to use as a starter after drying, optimum growth conditions of Str. thermophilus and L. bulgaricus were investigated. The results were as follows. The growth of Str. thermophilus was reached at stationary phase after 12 hours incubation and L. bulgaricus was after 6 hours. Str. thermophilus was grown well, in the medium containing 10% of skim milk, 2%5 of sucrose, 0.1% of KCl and 0.015%(v./v.) of soy-sauce. In the case of L. bulgaricus, 10% of skim milk, 2% of glucose, 0.5% of bacto-peptone, 0.1% of K₂HPO₄ and 0.02% of pyridoxine was suitable for the maximum growth.

Summary For the betterment of communication ability through listening and speaking English which is one of the most important and difficult problems of teaching English faced in Korea, the Early Teaching of English as FLES has been carried out at primary school in Korea since 1982. Therefore, in this paper, to solve this problem, one of the best ways carrying out the FLES for teaching of English is studied and found out as follows. In the chapter Ⅱ, the aims of FLES for the improvement of listening and speaking ability and teaching with the emphasis on speaking, pronunciation, linking words, phrases, intonation, minimal contrast, 3 kinds of questions, activities for the expression of their ideas in English, and speaking sentences with Cortina Method, are illustrated. For writing and reading ability improvement, it is suggested that letter language should be taught when they reached some stage to be interested in reading and writing by the development of children language competence along with sound language as we have learned our native tongue. In the chapter Ⅲ, among the many theories and methods of teaching other languages, Natural Method with everyday topics which encourage children to learn and with subjects that we all used as children when we learn our native tongue is suggested as an effective way of teaching English for FLES. In the chapter Ⅳ, for the purpose of achieving this aims, it is strongly emphasized that some problems on the actual spot at primary schoolteachers-in-service training, development of text and unification, curriculum for FLES, institution of teachers training, establishment of Department for FLES at teacher college should be solved by the educational policy of Korea. The following are conclusions. a) The first thing to be solved in the problems of teaching English we have faced is to improve the ability of listening and speaking skill for the expression of their ideas based on principle of language acquisition. b) Teaching of Early English as FLES should be carried out effectively at primary school, prior to other teaching method or theoretical study to solve present problems we have faced in teaching English as a living language in Korea. c) The teaching of FLES should be the way of learning native tongue we have through listening and speaking at first, and writing and reading should be followed step by step naturally along to language acquisition. d) Is is an international trend that FLES must be studied at present, and as to teaching other languages, FLES must be helping for the purpose, economically and laboringly. Therefore, the system of carrying out the FLES at primary school should not be disregarded for the policy of Teaching English. e) Especially, our Ministry of Education, established this important system of FLES, should strongly help to study the main subjects: teacher training, text refinement, curriculum revision, problems on the spot, establishment of Department of English for FLES at teachers college for the betterments of teaching English in Korea.

Isolation and Characterization of Lacticin 10790,a New Bacteriocin Produced by Lactococcus lactis subsp.cremoris KFCC 10790

A new bacteriocin, named lacticin 10790, was purified from Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris KFCC 10790 by sequential adsorption, immobilized metal-affinity, cationexchange, and C_18 reverse-phase chromatographies. The molecular mass of the bacteriocin was estimated to be between 3,000 and 3,500 Da. Lacticin 10790 showed a broad antimicrobial spectrum against many gram-positive bacteria. The bacteriocin was stable to heat and in the pH range between 2 and 6. Lacticin 10790 was destroyed by digestion with proteases and exhibited a bactericidal mode of action. An amino acid composition analysis of purified lacticin 10790 revealed a high concentration of hydrophobic amino acids. The N terminus of the bacteriocin was found to be blocked, upon analysis by Edman degradation. The results suggest that lacticin 10790 is a class I bacteriocin.

Eventually Willy, by living in bad faith which is the means of avoiding painful disclosures and revelations, goes to his grave without answering the existential question, “who am I”.

This study aims to search for an effective teaching method to develop listening comprehension ability of elementary school students. Today, we need especially to have communicative competence in English. So we must teach our students to be able to the language before produce it, for listening ability is more important than speaking ability for communicative competence in English. In conclusion, the writer would like to make a few suggestions as follows: First, at the beginning of the foreign language learning, students must achieve the soun discriminination ability. Second, it is desirable that English teachers try his best to prepare for a lot of material(games, songs, the various classroom activities etc.) which can be provided as comprehensible input to help students' English acquisition. Third, it is necessary that English teachers study the theory and techniques of variot approachers systematically and apply to their classroom teaching. Fourth, it is necessary that English teachers should use the audio-visual materials efficiently and practice themselves in pronunciation of native speakers.

N/A Mechanical property of hypereutectic Al-Si alloy is changed according to size and distribution of primary Si. Consequently, the study on the refinement for primary Si is progressed for a long time. But such effect of refinement comes out fading phenomena with the lapse of time. Therefore, this study investigated the optimum condition of primary Si refinement for hypereutectic Al-Si alloy. And we observed various primary Si size with P`s fading phenomena. The experiment results were as follows. For experiment of primary Si refinement, we made hypereutectic Al-Si alloy with various amounts of P addition. As a result of experiment, we obtained the fine microstructure at 0.01wt.%P. And the optimum condition of P addition, for reventing from growth of primary Si by P fading, is estimated 0.1wt.%P.
