It has been increasingly accepted that chronicsubacute inflammation plays an important role in thedevelopment of insulin resistance and type 2 Diabetes inanimals and humans. Particularly supporting this is thatsuppression of systemic inflammation in type 2 Diabetesimproves glycemic control; this also points to a newpotential therapeutic target for the treatment of type 2Diabetes. Recent studies strongly suggest that obesityinducedinflammation is mainly mediated by tissue residentimmune cells, with particular attention being focused onadipose tissue macrophages (ATMs). This review delineatesthe current progress made in understanding obesityinducedinflammation and the roles ATMs play in thisprocess.
Female participation and corruption in the public sector
Jongsoon Jin 한국행정학회 2016 International Review of Public Administration Vol.21 No.4
The purpose of this study is to contribute toward building an empirical foundation for enhanced female participation in the public sector. Specifically, this article provides empirical evidence on how female participation affects corruption level in the public sector with ordinary least square (OLS) and generalized least squares (GLS) analyses of 120 countries using panel data (from 2000 to 2010), with increased statistical validity. The results of the analyses show that female participation lowers the level of corruption in the public sector. This implies that public personnel administration, especially human resource planning, needs to be strategically designed to increase female participation from a corruption control perspective.

This study investigated the relationship between satisfaction of program participation and perception of successful aging in female elderly participating in oriental medicine Qigong exercise. The oriental medicine Qigong exercise program applied to the elderly women, and obtained the following results by verifying the effects of program participation satisfaction, an independent variable on the perception of successful aging, a dependent variable. First, MANOVA of participation satisfaction and successful aging perception showed significant differences in the background variables such as age, family members, educational background, exercise experience, number of training, and economic situation, etc. Second, in the multiple regression analysis which was conducted to investigate the participants' satisfaction with program participation and the effect on overall perception of successful aging, the regression model was found to be statistically significant. The results of this study showed that the appropriateness of oriental medicine Qigong exercise as an effective leisure program in the old age was confirmed, and it will be meaningful to provide basic data as an elderly leisure welfare policy in future.

The smart irrigation system using ICT technology is crucial for stable production of upland crops. The objective of this study was to develop a smart irrigation system that can control soil water, depending on irrigation methods, in order to improve crop production. In surface irrigation, three irrigation methods (sprinkler irrigation (SI), surface drip irrigation (SDI), and fountain irrigation (FI)) were installed on a crop field. The soil water contents were measured at 10, 20, 30, and 40 cm depth, and an automatic irrigation system controls a valve to maintain the soil water content at 10 cm to be 30%. In subsurface drip irrigation (SSDI), the drip lines were installed at a depth of 20 cm. Controlled drainage system (CDS) was managed with two ground water level (30 cm and 60 cm). The seasonal irrigation amounts were 96.4 ton/10a (SDI), 119.5 ton/10a (FI), and 113 ton/10a (SI), respectively. Since SDI system supplied water near the root zone of plants, the water was saved by 23.9% and 17.3%, compared with FI and SI, respectively. In SSDI, the mean soil water content was 38.8%, which was 10.8% higher than the value at the control treatment. In CDS, the water contents were greatly affected by the ground water level; the water contents at the surface zone with 30 cm ground water level was 9.4% higher than the values with 60 cm ground water level. In conclusion, this smart irrigation system can reduce production costs of upland crops.
Factors Influencing Elderly Care Willingness of Nursing Students
Jongsoon Won,Hoseok Jang 국제문화기술진흥원 2020 International Journal of Advanced Culture Technolo Vol.8 No.4
This study aimed to identify the factors affecting elderly care willingness (ECW) of nursing students. A total of 313 nursing students participated in the study. Data were collected from May to June 2019 using Interpersonal Reactivity Index-Korean version, Semantic Differential Scaling for evaluating attitudes toward elders, Scale of Ageism, and Questionnaire for care willingness toward older adults. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS 21.0 Program. The factors with the most significant influence on the elderly care willingness was prejudice toward the elderly (ß=-.30, p=.001), followed by attitude toward the elderly (ß=-.25, p=.004), third year (ß=-.23, p=.016), satisfaction with volunteer experience with the elderly (ß=-.21, p=.008), satisfaction with nursing major (ß=-.17, p=.032), and empathy (ß=.16, p=.046). These factors explained 46% of the elderly care willingness. In conclusion, it is necessary to reduce prejudice against the elderly and develop positive attitudes toward the elderly to increase the willingness of nursing students to care for older adults. In particular, further study is required to increase the willingness of nursing students to care for the elderly through developing programs such as curriculums for positive contact experiences with the elderly and volunteer activities for the elderly.
