      • A Study on Building Energy Simulation Based on BIM for Achieving Energy-Efficient Design

        Building energy consumption is tremendous. Methods to analyze building energy consumption before its construction have been studied for decades. Nowadays with Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology, users can easily export building information to data models in order to analyze the design works for building energy efficiency. In this paper, through the research on existing BIM-based energy applications, the authors successfully provided an effective energy simulation proposal for an “Open BIM Planning and Design Competition”, put forward ideas and solutions to some problems appeared during the process, gave a good way for BIM-based energy simulation and proposed some new thoughts for the future.

        Immunoglobulin class switching is crucial for the generation of antibody diversity in humoral immunity and, when deregulated, also has severe pathological consequences. How the magnitude of immunoglobulin isotype switching is controlled is still poorly understood. Here we identify thekinase TBK1 as a pivotal negative regulator of class switching to the immunoglobulin A (IgA) isotype. B cell-specific ablation of TBK1 in mice resulted in uncontrolled production of IgA and the development of nephropathy-like disease signs. TBK1 negatively regulated IgA class switchingby attenuating noncanonical signaling via the transcription factor NF-κB, an action that involved TBK1-mediated phosphorylation and subsequent degradation of the NF-κB-inducing kinase NIK. Our findings establish TBK1 as a pivotal negative regulator of the noncanonical NF-κB pathway and identify a unique mechanism that controls IgA production.

        Low-Overhead Feedback Topology Design for the K-User MIMO Interference Alignment

        Since designing a feedback topology is a practical way to implement interference alignment at reduced cost of channel state information (CSI) feedback, six feedback topologies have been presented in prior works for a K-user multiple-input multiple-output interference channel. To fully reveal the potential benefits of the feedback topology in terms of the saving of CSI overhead, we propose a new feedback topology in this paper. By efficiently performing dimensionality-decreasing at the transmitter side and aligning interference signals at a subset of receivers, we show that the proposed feedback topology obtains substantial reduction of feedback cost over the existing six feedback designs under the same antenna configuration.

        Stabilization of Enforced Positive Switched Linear Systems with Bounded Controls

        This paper is concerned with the controller synthesis issue for enforced positive switched linear systems via output feedback. First, the stabilization problem is studied with output feedback under average dwell time switching signal, and the controllers we proposed guarantee stability and positivity of the closed-loop systems. Second, the output feedback stabilization issue is investigated by introducing special form of diagonal matrices, and the constraints on states and control inputs are solved based on limited initial conditions. Then, the derived conditions are described via linear programming, also extending the theoretical findings to constrained output issue. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the control strategy.

        중국 기업의 최고경영진들의 정치적 관계가 기업의 국제화에 미치는 영향

        동일한 배경과 역량을 가진 기업 간에도 국제화의 성패는 다르게 나타난다. 본 연구에서는 중국 기업의 국제화 성패에 미치는 요인 중 기업의 정치적 관계에 대한 분석을 통하여, 비시장 요인으로서의 정치적 관계가 기업의 국제화에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 그 결과를 제시함으로써 국제화를 위한 기업의 관련 의사결정에 기여하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여, 본 연구에서는 중국의 상장기업들을 대상으로 기업 최고경영진들(Top Management Team)의 정치적 관계가 기업의 국제화에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 국제화 과정에서의 주요한 결정요인 중 하나인 최고경영진들(공식적 혹은 비공식적인 회사의 최고 의사결정자들)의 정치적 관계와 기업의 국제화 간의 관계를 규명하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 대상은 2010년부터 2021년 사이에 중국 상하이와 선전 증권거래소에 상장된 음료수, 컴퓨터, 항공기, 치약, 약품, 도서 출판사, 산업은행, 신용카드회사들로, 해당 기업들의 재무 현황을 분석하기 위하여 중국 기업의 재무제표 등이 수록된 CSMAR을 데이터로 사용하였다. 기업의 국제화와 관련된 연구가 기존에는 주로 경제적 요인에 기초하였으나, 본 연구는 최고경영진들의 정치적 관계라는 비시장 요인을 중심으로 정치적 관계의 종류와 국제화 사이의 관계를 규명하여, 정치적 관계의 형태와 국제화 간의 Mechanism을 규명하는 시도라는 점에서 차별화하였다. 특히, 본 연구를 통해 총 6개의 가설을 검증하는 과정에서 최고경영진들의 정치적 관계가 기업의 국제화를 촉진한다는 기존의 연구 결과와 다른 결론을 도출함으로써, 기업의 정치적 관계가 기업의 국제화에 미치는 영향이 다양한 양상으로 나타난다는 점과 로컬특성과 산업 특성의 조절 효과를 실증적으로 밝혔다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있고, 기업의 정치적 관계에 의존하는 형태의 국제화 과정이 기업의 국제화 성과와 관련해서는 실효성이 없다는 점에서 실무적 시사점을 제공하였다. In order to understand the influences on firms' internationalization, it is necessary to consider non-market factors that cannot be easily calculated economically in addition to observable market factors. Even among firms with the same background and capabilities, the success of internationalization varies in various ways, and this study analyzes the impact of political relationships as a non-market factor on the internationalization of firms through an analysis of the political relationships of firms among the factors that affect the success of internationalization, and presents the results to contribute to relevant decision-making for the internationalization of firms. This study examines the impact of top management team political relationships on the internationalization of Chinese listed firms. The objective of the study is to identify the relationship between the political relationships of top management (the top decision makers of a company, whether formal or informal) and firm internationalization, which is one of the main determinants of the internationalization process. To this end, we selected a sample of beverage, computer, aircraft, toothpaste, pharmaceutical, book publishing, industrial banking, and credit card companies listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges in China between 2010 and 2021, and used CSMAR, which contains financial statements of Chinese companies, as data to analyze the financial status of these companies. While previous studies on corporate internationalization have been based on economic factors, this study is different in that it focuses on a non-market factor, namely the political relationships of top management, and attempts to identify the relationship between the types of political relationships and internationalization, thereby identifying the mechanism between the types of political relationships and internationalization. In particular, in the process of testing a total of six hypotheses, this study drew different conclusions from the results of previous studies that political relationships of top management facilitate the internationalization of firms. The study is significant in that it empirically revealed the moderating effects of local and industry characteristics, and provided practical implications in that the internationalization process that relies on the political relationships of top management is not effective in terms of the internationalization performance of firms.

      • Antiviral peptide nanocomplexes as a potential therapeutic modality for HIV/HCV co-infection

        It is estimated that 4 to 5 million people are currently co-infected with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). HIV/HCV co-infection is associated with unique health risks including increased hepatotoxicity of antiretrovirals, accelerated progression of HCV and liver diseases. The standard interferon-based therapy is effective only in about 50% of patients and often is associated with autoimmune and neuro-psychiatric complications. The treatment of co-infection (HIV/HCV) requires new strategic approaches. To this end, the formulations of an amphiphatic α-helical peptide, a positively charged analog of C5A peptide derived from the HCV NS5A protein, with a reported virocidal activity were prepared by electrostatic coupling with anionic poly(amino acid)-based block copolymers. The self-assembled antiviral peptide nanocomplexes (APN) were ca. 35 nm in size, stable at physiological pH and ionic strength, and retained in vitro antiviral activity against HCV and HIV. Moreover, incorporation of the peptide into APN attenuated its cytotoxicity associated with the positive charge. In vivo APN were able to decrease the viral load in mice transplanted with human lymphocytes and HIV-1-infected. Overall, these findings indicate the potential of these formulations for stabilization and delivery of antiviral peptides while maintaining their functional activity. Published by Elsevier Ltd.

        Genome-wide Identification and Expression Analyses of RPP13-like Genes in Barley

        Plants have evolved a series of mechanisms to resist pathogens infection. The nucleotide-binding site and leucine-rich repeat (NBS-LRR) family contains the largest number of plant disease resistance genes in plants. Recognition of Peronospora Parasitica 13-like (RPP13-like) genes belong to this superfamily and play important roles in the resistance of various plant diseases including the downy mildew caused by Peronospora parasitica. In this study, 21 RPP13-like genes were identified in barley via bioinformatics. These genes all contained CC, NB-ARC and LRR domains. The physical and chemical properties, chromosome locations, gene structures, protein motifs, 3D protein structures, and microarray based expression dynamics of these genes, as well as their phylogenetic relationship with other plant species were analyzed. Non-expression of MLOC_19262.1 was detected without pathogen infection. When barley was inoculated with the powdery mildew pathogenic fungus, the expression of MLOC_ 19262.1 reached a very high level, suggesting that this gene is an important and promising candidate resistance gene for further study. The two RPP13-like genes, MLOC_57007.2 and MLOC_5059.1 may be involved in barley regular or abiotic stress induced physiological metabolism in specific tissues or at specific developmental stages; furthermore, these functions may be associated with specific domains. These findings provided evidence for the functional diversity of plant pathogen resistance genes and will be helpful for the future characterization of the PRR 13-like gene subfamily.
