        The Thioacetate-Functionalized Self-Assembled Monolayers on Au: Toward High-Performance Ion-Selective Electrode for Ag+

        Jin, Jian,Zhou, Wei-Jie,Chen, Ying,Liu, Yi-Long,Sun, Xiao-Qiang,Xi, Hai-Tao Korean Chemical Society 2014 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.35 No.2

Two classes of morpholino-substitued thioacetate have been successfully synthesized and their electrochemical properties of self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on Au electrode are measured by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The barrier property of the SAMs-modified surfaces is evaluated by using potassium ferro/ferri cyanide. The results suggest that the arenethioacetate forms higher-quality close-packed blocking monolayers in comparison with alkanethioacetate. Furthermore, it has shown that the barrier properties of these monolayers can be significantly improved by mixed SAMs formation with decanethiol. From our experimental results we find that the electron transfer reaction of $[Fe(CN)_6]^{3/4-}$ redox couple occurs predominantly through the pinholes and defects present in the SAM and both SAMs show a good and fast capacity in recognition for $Ag^+$. The morphological and elementary composition have also been examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS).

Study on Temperature and Humidity Stability for Melt-blown Polylactide Electret Nonwovens

        Jinjian Wang,Peng Wang,Yingyu Luo,Wei Huang,Renjian Qian,Jun Chen,Peng Chen 한국섬유공학회 2023 Fibers and polymers Vol.24 No.8

To investigate the temperature and humidity stability of melt-blown polylactide (PLA) electret nonwovens with different crystallinity, PLA nonwovens were annealed at 70 ℃ for different time followed by the corona charging process, and decay experiments were carried out under different temperature and humidity conditions. It was found that the crystallinity of the PLA nonwovens increased from 14.0 to 50.8%, with annealing time increased from 0 to 4 h. Initial surface potential and filtration efficiency of the PLA electret nonwovens increased with increasing crystallinity (from 14.0 to 50.8%), with the maximum increment of 18% in the initial surface potential. Moreover, the temperature and humidity stability of the PLA electret nonwovens was enhanced with increasing crystallinity. As for the temperature stability, when humidity was constant and temperature increased from 30 to 50 ℃, a slight drop in the retention rate of the filtration efficiency was observed (≤ 3%) for the PLA electret nonwovens. Regarding the humidity stability, when temperature was constant and humidity exceeded 50% RH, the retention rate of the filtration efficiency for the PLA electret nonwovens decreased significantly (≥ 6%).

On bending, buckling and vibration of graphene nanosheets based on the nonlocal theory

        Jinjian Liu,Ling Chen,Feng Xie,Xueliang Fan,Cheng Li 국제구조공학회 2016 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.17 No.2

The nonlocal static bending, buckling, free and forced vibrations of graphene nanosheets are examined based on the Kirchhoff plate theory and Taylor expansion approach. The nonlocal nanoplate model incorporates the length scale parameter which can capture the small scale effect. The governing equations are derived using Hamilton\'s principle and the Navier-type solution is developed for simply-supported graphene nanosheets. The analytical results are proposed for deflection, natural frequency, amplitude of forced vibration and buckling load. Moreover, the effects of nonlocal parameter, half wave number and three-dimensional sizes on the static, dynamic and stability responses of the graphene nanosheets are discussed. Some illustrative examples are also addressed to verify the present model, methodology and solution. The results show that the new nanoplate model produces larger deflection, smaller circular frequencies, amplitude and buckling load compared with the classical model.

Numerical Investigation of Cracks at Girder Ends of Prefabricated Post-Tensioned Prestressed Concrete I-Girders

        Aimin Yuan,Tongyi Wang,Jinjian Gu,Xinge Miao,Jianrong Xu 대한토목학회 2023 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.27 No.10

Prefabricated post-tensioned prestressed concrete (PTC) girders with high degrees of prestressing have been developed continuously in recent bridge designs to reach longer spans, higher quality, and larger load-bearing capacity. However, during the prefabrication process, several inclined and horizontal cracks were observed at the ends of a new style post-tensioned concrete girder, which could have a negative impact on the girders' longevity. In this study, a nonlinear finite element analysis technique was utilized to illustrate how concrete reacts and the mechanisms behind typical cracking patterns during the actual post-tensioning sequence. The prestressing load of a PTC girder was simulated with an improved cooling temperature method that accounts for immediate prestress losses. The field of principle tensile strain patterns and primary strain trajectories explained the overall mechanism underlying typical cracking behaviors. The results showed that the horizontal cracks under the anchorage plate (behavior 1) were generated by the bursting force, whereas the inclined cracks (behavior 2) and the horizontal cracks between the strands N1 and N2 anchor plates (behavior 3) were caused due to the spalling force. The effects of self-weight, girder end forms, as well as the transfer length of the prestressing strands, were discussed. The result demonstrates that both the self-weight and girder end shapes have a considerable effect on the behaviors of the anchorage zone. It is suggested that the transfer length of the anchor head be greater than 26 times of strand diameter to achieve the same effective stresses as the theoretical values.

No-reference Image Quality Assessment With A Gradient-induced Dictionary

( Leida Li ),( Dong Wu ),( Jinjian Wu ),( Jiansheng Qian ),( Beijing Chen ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.10 No.1

Image distortions are typically characterized by degradations of structures. Dictionaries learned from natural images can capture the underlying structures in images, which are important for image quality assessment (IQA). This paper presents a general-purpose no-reference image quality metric using a GRadient-Induced Dictionary (GRID). A dictionary is first constructed based on gradients of natural images using K-means clustering. Then image features are extracted using the dictionary based on Euclidean-norm coding and max-pooling. A distortion classification model and several distortion-specific quality regression models are trained using the support vector machine (SVM) by combining image features with distortion types and subjective scores, respectively. To evaluate the quality of a test image, the distortion classification model is used to determine the probabilities that the image belongs to different kinds of distortions, while the regression models are used to predict the corresponding distortion-specific quality scores. Finally, an overall quality score is computed as the probability-weighted distortion-specific quality scores. The proposed metric can evaluate image quality accurately and efficiently using a small dictionary. The performance of the proposed method is verified on public image quality databases. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed metric can generate quality scores highly consistent with human perception, and it outperforms the state-of-the-arts.

Characteristics analysis of micro‑source half‑bridge converter series Y‑connection based microgrid systems

        Xinggui Wang,Yingjie Ding,Jinjian Li,Yongji Guo 전력전자학회 2023 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.23 No.10

Due to the problems of serious circulation current, large switching loss, high harmonic content, unstable voltage, and high engineering cost in existing microgrid structures, a micro-source half-bridge converter series Y-connection-based microgrid (HCSY-MG) is proposed in this paper. On the basis of the equivalent circuit in the system islanding state, the output characteristics of the system and the corresponding influencing factors under both square wave modulation and phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PS-PWM) are analyzed. Under single-cycle square wave modulation, since the DC-side capacitors of some micro-source half-bridge converters are affected by reactive power, which can result in system output voltage fluctuations or even an in-phase imbalanced state, a multi-period cycle modulation strategy is applied to solve this problem. Under the PS-PWM strategy, if the modulation degree and capacitance of the micro-source half-bridge converters are reasonably set, the output voltage of the system can be guaranteed to be in an in-phase equilibrium state. A simulation model and an experimental platform are built to verify the feasibility of the system and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.

Application of a modified structural clay model considering anisotropy to embankment behavior

        Zhang, Hao,Chen, Qiushi,Chen, Jinjian,Wang, Jianhua Techno-Press 2017 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.13 No.1

Natural clays exhibit features such as structural and anisotropy. In this work, a constitutive model that is able to replicate these two salient features of natural clays is presented. The proposed model is based on the classical S-CLAY1 model, where the anisotropy of the soil is captured through the initial inclination and rotation of the yield surface. To account for the structural of the soil, the compression curve of the reconstituted soil is taken as the reference. All parameters of the proposed constitutive model have clear physical meanings and can be conveniently determined from conventional triaxial tests. This proposed model has been used to simulate the behavior of soft soil in the undrained triaxial tests and the performance of Murro embankment in terms of settlement and horizontal displacements during embankment construction and consolidation stage. Results of numerical simulations using proposed model have been compared with the field measurement data. The comparisons show that the two features significantly influence the prediction results.

Efficacy of Sublingual Immunotherapy for House Dust Mite-Induced Allergic Rhinitis: A Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

        Bohai Feng,Haijie Xiang,Haiyong Jin,Jinjian Gao,Saiyu Huang,Yunbin Shi,Ruru Chen,Bobei Chen 대한천식알레르기학회 2017 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.9 No.3

Purpose: Allergic rhinitis (AR) has become a global issue for a large part of the general population. Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) has been used extensively to treat persistent allergic rhinitis (PAR). Although systematic reviews have confirmed the effectiveness of SLIT for the treatment of AR, a considerable number of studies using extracts of house dust mites (HDMs) for immunotherapy found no consensus on basic treatment parameters and questioned the efficacy of SLIT. Methods: In this study, we evaluated SLIT for PAR by a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library database searches were performed for RCTs on the treatment of PAR by SLIT that assessed clinical outcomes related to efficacy through May 2016. Descriptive and quantitative information was abstracted. An analysis was performed with standardized mean differences (SMDs) under a fixed or random effects model. Subgroup analyses were performed. Heterogeneity was assessed using the I2 metric. Results: In total, 25 studies were eligible for inclusion in the meta-analysis for symptom scores and 15 studies for medication scores. SLIT was significantly different from the controls for symptom scores (SMD=1.23; 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.74 to 0.73; P<0.001). For medication scores, significant differences for SLIT were also observed versus the controls (SMD=-1.39; 95% CI=-1.90 to -0.88; P<0.001). Conclusions: Our meta-analysis indicates that SLIT provided significant symptom relief and reduced the need for medications in PAR. In this study, significant evidence was obtained despite heterogeneity with regard to the use of mite extract. Specifically, the mite extract used was provided by the patients with PAR. Furthermore, to confirm both the objective outcomes and the effective doses of HDM allergen extracts, experimental data should be obtained from large high-quality population-based studies.

Isocryptotanshinone Induced Apoptosis and Activated MAPK Signaling in Human Breast Cancer MCF-7 Cells

        Xuenong Zhang,Weiwei Luo,Wenwen Zhao,Jinjian Lu,Xiuping Chen 한국유방암학회 2015 Journal of breast cancer Vol.18 No.2

Purpose: Isocryptotanshinone (ICTS) is a natural bioactive product that is isolated from the roots of the widely used medical herb Salvia miltiorrhiza. However, few reports exist on the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of ICTS. Here, we report that ICTS has anticancer activity and describe the mechanism underlying this effect. Methods: The antiproliferative effect of ICTS was determined using 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5- diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) and clonogenic assays. The effect of ICTS on the cell cycle was measured using flow cytometry. Apoptosis was determined by Hoechst 33342 staining, DNA fragmentation assays, and Western blotting for apoptotic proteins. Finally, the effect of ICTS on mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) was determined by Western blotting. Results: ICTS significantly inhibited proliferation of MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells, HepG2 human liver cancer cells, and A549 human lung cancer cells in vitro. Among the tested cell lines, MCF-7 cells showed the highest sensitivity to ICTS. ICTS significantly inhibited colony formation by MCF-7 cells. Furthermore, exposure of MCF-7 cells to ICTS induced cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase and decreased mitochondrial membrane potential. Hoechst 33342 staining and Western blot analysis for apoptotic proteins suggested that ICTS induced apoptosis in MCF-7 cells. In addition, ICTS activated MAPK signaling in MCF-7 cells by inducing time- and concentration-dependent phosphorylation of JNK, ERK, and p38 MAPK. Conclusion: Our results suggest that ICTS inhibited MCF-7 cell proliferation by inducing apoptosis and activating MAPK signaling pathways.
