Labeling of oral spirochetes with fluorescent fatty acids
Jin Hong,Kyu Joong Kim,Si Young Lee KOREAN ACADAMY OF ORAL BIOLOGY 2008 International Journal of Oral Biology Vol.33 No.2
Oral spirochetes are anaerobes known as one of causative agents for periodontal diseases. In this study, we investigated the possibility of utilizing fluorescent fatty acids for labeling oral spirochetes. Bacterial labeling was standardized with three different lengths of fluorescent fatty acids: 5-octadecanoylaminfluorescein (OAF), 5-dodecanoylamin-fluorescein (DAF), and 5-hexadecanoylaminfluorescein (HAF). Among these fatty acids, OAF showed the best labeling activity. Treponema denticola ATCC 35405 was totally saturated to the maximum when incubated with OAF 1 μg/ml for 1 hour. Treponema vincentii LA-1 also increased in fluorescence in proportion to incubation time length and the concentration. In conclusion, these findings showed the possibility that the fluorescent fatty acid can be used for labeling oral spirochetes.
Performance comparison of cryptanalytic time memory data tradeoff methods
Jin Hong 대한수학회 2016 대한수학회보 Vol.53 No.5
The execution complexities of the major time memory data tradeoff methods are analyzed in this paper. The multi-target tradeoffs covered are the classical Hellman, distinguished point, and fuzzy rainbow methods, both in their non-perfect and perfect table versions for the latter two methods. We show that their computational complexities are identical to those of the corresponding single-target methods executed under certain matching parameters and conclude that the perfect table fuzzy rainbow tradeoff method is most preferable.
Big Data Platform of a System Recommendation in Cloud Environment
Jinhong Kim,Sung-Tae Hwang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.9 No.12
Cloud Computing is one of the emerging technologies. This research paper aimed to outline cloud computing and its features, and considered cloud computing for machine learning and data mining. The goal of the paper was to develop a recommendation and search system using big data platform on cloud environment. The main focus was on the study and understanding of Hadoop, one of the new technologies used in the cloud for scalable batch processing, and HBase data model which is a scalable database on top of the Hadoop file system. Accordingly, this project involved the design, analysis and implementation phases for developing the search and recommendation system for staffing purpose. So, mainly the action research method was being followed for this.

In this study, we evaluate artificial neural network (ANN) models that estimate the positions of gamma-ray sources from plastic scintillating fiber (PSF)-based radiation detection systems using different filtering ratios. The PSF-based radiation detection system consists of a single-stranded PSF, two photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) that transform the scintillation signals into electric signals, amplifiers, and a data acquisition system (DAQ). The source used to evaluate the system is Cs-137, with a photopeak of 662 keV and a dose rate of about 5 μSv/h. We construct ANN models with the same structure but different training data. For the training data, we selected a measurement time of 1 minute to secure a sufficient number of data points. Conversely, we chose a measurement time of 10 seconds for extracting time-difference data from the primary data, followed by filtering. During the filtering process, we identified the peak heights of the gaussian-fitted curves obtained from the histogram of the time-difference data, and extracted the data located above the height which is equal to the peak height multiplied by a predetermined percentage. We used percentage values of 0, 20, 40, and 60 for the filtering. The results indicate that the filtering has an effect on the position estimation error, which we define as the absolute value of the difference between the estimated source position and the actual source position. The estimation of the ANN model trained with raw data for the training data shows a total average error of 1.391 m, while the ANN model trained with 20%-filtered data for the training data shows a total average error of 0.263 m. Similarly, the 40%-filtered data result shows a total average error of 0.119 m, and the 60%-filtered data result shows a total average error of 0.0452 m. From the perspective of the total average error, it is clear that the more data are filtered, the more accurate the result is. Further study will be conducted to optimize the filtering ratio for the system and measuring time by evaluating stabilization time for position estimation of the source.
Transmission Scheme for Asymmetric MIMO Two-way Relay with Channel Estimation Error
Jinhong Fan,Chaowei Yuan,Ke Xiao 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.8 No.7
In this paper, we consider the transmission scheme for asymmetric decode-and-forward (DF) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) two-way relay system with channel estimation error. In order to transmit with asymmetric data rates from the relay to the receivers according to their individual link qualities, we propose a novel transmission scheme for the broadcast phase by employing a priori bit information. The proposed scheme employs multi-antenna and network coding at the relay. The idea is the weaker link receiver exploits a priori bit information in each transmit symbol, so that it only needs to decode on a subset of the transmit symbol constellation. Subject to the same bit error rate constraint, the weaker link receiver can decode at lower signal-to-noise ratio compared to the stronger link. The different signal labeling used for mapping bits to symbols at the relay cause different minimum Euclidean distance, so it is shown to be crucial for the performance at the receivers. Subsequently, we investigate the effect of the channel estimation error on the system performance. Simulations show that the proposed transmission scheme can be applied to practical scenarios with asymmetric channel qualities.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods were synthesized using a modified wet chemical method. Poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene), P(VDF-HFP), nanocomposites with different ZnO nanorods loadings were prepared viaa solution blend route. Field emission scanning electron microscopic (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fouriertransform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to investigate the structure and morphology of the nanocomposites. XRD and FTIR data indicate that the incorporation of ZnO nanorods promote the crystalline structure transformationof P(VDF-HFP). As the content of ZnO nanorods increases, the β phase structure increases while the α phasedecreases. In addition, the dielectric properties of the P(VDF-HFP) and its composites were systematically studied.
