        Development of the Northeast China Logistics Network: A Bibliometric Analysis from the Perspectives of South Korea and China

        Purpose – This study aims to disclose latest progress in the field of logistics networks in Northeast China through bibliometric analysis to uncover research topics from 2002 to 2022, and explore future research trends through bibliometric research. Design/Methodology/Approach – In this study, 230 CSSCI and 95 KCI articles were selected through a screening process using the PRISMA guidelines flowchart, eliminating research-irrelevant articles and duplicate articles. Citespace and Vosviewer visualization software were used to conduct bibliometric analysis on articles with search terms of “Northeast China” and “Logistics” from 2002 to 2022. It mainly discussed the following issues: (1) the salient conceptual dimensions using keywords analysis; (2) research hot spots using cluster analysis; and (3) likely future research trends. Findings – Based on the KCI and CSSCI databases (articles published from 2002 to 2022), this paper found that logistics development in Northeast China is expected to be accompanied by a number of experiments. Therefore, we firstly need to improve the level and efficiency of logistics activities. Border cities in Northeast China must ensure a smooth process of distribution. Further, it is also necessary to form a multinational logistics cooperation system by activating exchanges with neighboring countries. Research Implications – This study will help establish the status of individual research study in the future, promote the development of the logistics industry in Northeast China, and boost the construction of international cities. It will explore the direction of future research in relevant research fields of South Korea and China.

        Alu Tandem Sequences Inhibit GFP Gene Expression by Triggering Chromatin Wrapping

        Alu elements belonging to the short interspersed nuclear elements (SINE) of repetitive elements are present in more than one million copies which altogether represent 10% of the whole human genome. In this study, the roles of Alu tandem sequences in the process of GFP gene (GFP) expression and packing into chromatin of its DNA were studied. To detect the effect of Alu repeats on gene expression, different copies of Alus were inserted GFP downstream respectively in pEGFP-C1 vector. We found that Alu sequences decreased the amount of GFP transcription, the percentage of GFP positive cells and the accessibility to DNase I in length-dependent manner. Inserting Alu caused the production of higher-molecular-mass RNA, indicating Alu sequence did not induce premature transcriptional termination. Tight packing chromatins keep silent and resist to DNase I digestion, which is a general phenomenon. We suggested that head and tail tandem Alu sequences suppressed GFP expression in length dependent manner by triggering chromatin packing.

        On the Efficiency of International Logistics in the Border Cities of Northeast China: A Comparative Study with a DEA Model and the Malmquist Index

        Purpose - With the acceleration of the process of globalization, the border area of China plays an increasingly important role, especially in northeast region. The purpose of this research is to analyze the efficiency of international logistics of six border cities in northeast China to promote the sustainable development of the logistics industry of border cities. Design/Methodology/Approach - This study focuses on cities bordering on neighboring countries. Taking the border cities with the most frequent trade transactions between northeast China and neighboring countries as an example, this paper compares the efficiency of six major border cities of northeast China, and find differences, competitive advantages, and improvement points. This research use DEA model and the Malmquist Production Index method to study the efficiency of international logistics and analyzes the efficiency evaluations and change trends of the logistics industry in six major border cities in northeast China. Findings - The result proves and emphasizes on the need to increase the productivity and improve the scale efficiency, especially in Yanbian, Heihe and Jiamusi. The result suggest that improve the scale efficiency by establishing a railway network to achieve the optimization of production scale, to realize the scale economy. Research Implications - There are few studies on the border cities which are the core areas of the economy in border district of northeast China. So that in this study, the research focus on border cities rather than the central area which was dealt a lot in previous studies, to seek for the opportunity of new development in this area.

        Esophageal Motility in the Supine and Upright Positions for Liquid and Solid Swallows Through High-resolution Manometry

        Background/Aims Most recent studies using high-resolution manometry were based on supine liquid swallows. This study was to evaluate the differences in esophageal motility for liquid and solid swallows in the upright and supine positions, and to determine the percentages of motility abnormalities in different states. Methods Twenty-four asymptomatic volunteers and 26 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease underwent high-resolution manometry using a 36-channel manometry catheter. The peristalses of 10 water and 10 steamed bread swallows were recorded in both supine and upright positions. Integrated relaxation pressure, contractile front velocity, distal latency (DL) and the distal contractile integral (DCI) were investigated and comparisons between postures and boluses were analyzed. Abnormal peristalsis of patients was assessed applying the corresponding normative values. Results In total, 829 swallows from healthy volunteers and 959 swallows from patients were included. (1) The upright position provided lower integrated relaxation pressure, shorter DL and weaker DCI than the supine position. (2) In the comparison of liquid swallows, the mean for contractile front velocity was obviously reduced while DL and DCI were increased in solid swallows. (3) The supine position detected more hypotensive peristalsis than the upright position. The upright position provided more rapid and premature contraction than the supine position but there was no statistically significant difference. Conclusions Supine solid swallows occur with more hypotensive peristalsis. Analysis should be based on normative values from the corresponding posture and bolus.       • Prediction Models for Solitary Pulmonary Nodules Based on Curvelet Textural Features and Clinical Parameters

        Lung cancer, one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths, usually appears as solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) which are hard to diagnose using the naked eye. In this paper, curvelet-based textural features and clinical parameters are used with three prediction models [a multilevel model, a least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression method, and a support vector machine (SVM)] to improve the diagnosis of benign and malignant SPNs. Dimensionality reduction of the original curvelet-based textural features was achieved using principal component analysis. In addition, non-conditional logistical regression was used to find clinical predictors among demographic parameters and morphological features. The results showed that, combined with 11 clinical predictors, the accuracy rates using 12 principal components were higher than those using the original curvelet-based textural features. To evaluate the models, 10-fold cross validation and back substitution were applied. The results obtained, respectively, were 0.8549 and 0.9221 for the LASSO method, 0.9443 and 0.9831 for SVM, and 0.8722 and 0.9722 for the multilevel model. All in all, it was found that using curvelet-based textural features after dimensionality reduction and using clinical predictors, the highest accuracy rate was achieved with SVM. The method may be used as an auxiliary tool to differentiate between benign and malignant SPNs in CT images.

        Naturally Occurring Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Tomato Pomace Silage

        Silage making has become a significant method of forage conservation worldwide. To determine how tomato pomace (TP) may be used effectively as animal feed, it was ensilaged for 90 days and microbiology counts, fermentation characteristics and chemical composition of tomato pomace silage (TPS) were evaluated at the 30th, 60th, and 90th days, respectively. In addition, 103 lactic acid bacteria were isolated from TPS. Based on the phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, 16S rDNA sequence and carbohydrate fermentation tests, the isolates were identified as 17 species namely: Lactobacillus coryniformis subsp. torquens (0.97%), Lactobacillus pontis (0.97%), Lactobacillus hilgardii (0.97%), Lactobacillus pantheris (0.97%), Lactobacillus amylovorus (1.9%), Lactobacillus panis (1.9%), Lactobacillus vaginalis (1.9%), Lactobacillus rapi (1.9%), Lactobacillus buchneri (2.9%), Lactobacillus parafarraginis (2.9%), Lactobacillus helveticus (3.9%), Lactobacillus camelliae (3.9%), Lactobacillus fermentum (5.8%), Lactobacillus manihotivorans (6.8%), Lactobacillus plantarum (10.7%), Lactobacillus harbinensis (16.5%) and Lactobacillus paracasei subsp. paracasei (35.0%). This study has shown that TP can be well preserved for 90 days by ensilaging and that TPS is not only rich in essential nutrients, but that physiological and biochemical properties of the isolates could provide a platform for future design of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) inoculants aimed at improving the fermentation quality of silage.

        An empirical study on the determinants of air trade – The case of South Korea and Chinese provinces

        The air transportation industry is becoming an increasingly important growth factor for economic development as trade and logistics exchanges between South Korea and China continue to grow. The main objective of this article is to examine the factors that influence air trade between South Korea and 31 Chinese provinces from 2010 to 2019, with the aim of promoting the expansion of air trade between the two countries. The findings suggest that, with the exception of South Korea’s exports to the 31 Chinese provinces, the gross regional domestic product has a significantly positive effect. The effects of distance and personal income on total air trade, air imports and exports are notably negative and positive respectively. Furthermore, foreign direct investment has a positive impact only when South Korea exports to China. The study concludes that, enhancing the volume of air traffic between South Korea and China can be accomplished by directing investments towards inland areas that possess trade-potential, expanding airport infrastructure, and developing regional economic growth. Furthermore, it is suggested that emerging domestic markets should be under close observation due to the changes in the trade structure after the COVID 19.

        Associations of HSP90AA2 gene polymorphisms with disease susceptibility, glucocorticoids efficacy and health-related quality of life in Chinese systemic lupus erythematosus patients

        Although the current glucocorticoids (GCs) treatment for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is effective to a certain extent, the difference in therapeutic effect between patients is still a widespread problem. Some patients can have repeated attacks that greatly diminish their quality of life. This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between HSP90AA2 polymorphisms and disease susceptibility, GCs efficacy and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Chinese SLE patients. A case–control study was performed in 470 SLE patients and 470 normal controls. Then, 444 patients in the case group were followed up for 12 weeks to observe efficacy of GCs and improvement of HRQoL. Two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of HSP90AA2 were selected for genotyping: rs1826330 and rs6484340. HRQoL was assessed using the SF-36 questionnaire. The minor T allele of rs1826330 and the TT haplotype formed by rs1826330 and rs6484340 showed associations with decreased SLE risk (T allele: PBH = 0.022; TT haplotype: PBH = 0.033). A significant association between rs6484340 and improvement of HRQoL was revealed in the follow-up study. Five subscales of SF-36 were appeared to be influenced by rs6484340: total score of SF-36 (additive model: PBH = 0.026), physical function (additive model: PBH = 0.026), rolephysical (recessive model: PBH = 0.041), mental health (dominant model: PBH = 0.047), and physical component summary (additive model: PBH = 0.026). No statistical significance was found between HSP90AA2 gene polymorphisms and GCs efficacy. These results revealed a genetic association between HSP90AA2 and SLE. Remarkably, HSP90AA2 has an impact on the improvement of HRQoL in Chinese population with SLE.

      • Prognostic Values of Various Clinical Factors and Genetic Subtypes for Diffuse Large B-cell lymphoma Patients: A Retrospective Analysis of 227 Cases

        Aim: To analyze the significance of different clinical factors for prognostic prediction in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients. Methods: Two hundred and twenty-seven DLBCL patients were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were managed with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (CHOP) regimen or rituximab plus the CHOP (RCHOP) regimen. Results: Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), ${\beta}2$-microglobulin (${\beta}2$-M), B symptoms, Ann Arbor stage and genetic subtypes were statistically relevant in predicting the prognosis of the overall survival (OS). In the CHOP group, the OS in patients with germinal center B-cell-like (GCB)(76.2%) was significantly higher than that of the non-GCB group (51.9%, P=0.032). With RCHOP management, there was no statistical difference in OS between the GCB (88.4%) and non-GCB groups (81.9%, P=0.288). Conclusion: Elevated LDH and ${\beta}2$-M levels, positive B symptoms, Ann Arbor stage III/IV, and primary nodal lymphoma indicate an unfavorable prognosis of DLBCL patients. Patients with GCB-like DLBCL have a better prognosis than those with non-GCB when treated with the CHOP regimen. The RCHOP treatment with the addition of rituximab can improve the prognosis of patients with DLBCL.

        Surface coordination and excellent anticorrosion performance of strontiumapatite nanocomposite

        A mass-produced, simple and scalable self-heating-based method for the manufacture of surfacecoordination strontiumapatite (SP) nanocomposite with excellent corrosion resistance is proposed. Thereaction heat released from the formation of SP material increases the solubility of benzotriazole (BTA)which achieves reasonable distribution of system energy. The BTA isfirmly adhered on the SP by Sr Ncoordination bond, which acts as barrier impeding on the penetration of the corrosive medium. Scanelectron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to characterize coatingmorphology and chemical composition. Meanwhile, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) datashow that the resultant resistance of strontiumapatite/benzotriazole (SPB) nanocomposite coating was3.02 × 104V cm2, which was improved by 601.8% compared with SP material. The improvement ofcorrosion performance is attributed to the synergistic anticorrosion mechanism that includes theshielding effect, extension of charge transfer paths and formation of multiple passivationfilms. Themethod for organic and inorganic synergistic material provides ideas for the design and synthesis ofanticorrosive materials.
