        《诗经》英译情况研究

        As the first collection of Chinese poems, The Book of Songs collected poems written in about 500 years from the turn of the Shang dynasty and the Zhou dynasty to the middle of the Spring and Autumn. As the top of the Five Classics, it is not only a treasure of the traditional Chinese culture, but also the culture heritage of the world. There are 311 poems in it, which can be divided into three part Feng(Ballads), Ya(Festival Odes) and Song(Sacrificial Songs). It also adopts Fu, Bi, Xing as the technique of expression, sometimes the songs come straight to the point, and sometimes they use symbolism, all of which endow the songs sincere feelings and make them honest and unsophisticated. Being regarded as a quintessential part of our Chinese people’s culture, it has been the focus of attention from the very beginning of the Sino-Western cultural communication, and later, western missionaries and sinologists translated it into various languages. The English translation of it started in the 18 century, and it was translated into various version during over 200 years. As an important part of international cultural exchange, the Book of Songs has forcefully pushed Chinese literature known to the world.

        치과용 콤퍼머의 마찰·마멸거동

        The friction and wear characteristics and wear mechanisms of dental compomers were investigated. Compomers such as Compoglass, F2000, Elan and Dyract AP were selected as specimens. Surface characteristics was examined by SEM and contents of glass fillers in specimens were determinated in order to analyze the effect of the fillers in fraction and wear characteristics. Ball on flat wear tester was used for a wear test. Friction and wear tests are carried out at room temperature. The friction coefficient of F2000 was quite high relatively, and the wear resistance of Compoglass and Dyract AP was better than that of F2000 and other specimens at the same experimental condition. The main wear mechanism is brittle fatigue of glass fillers, plastic flow and abrasive wear by crack propagation.

        폴록사머 및 프로필렌글리콜을 이용한 클로트리마졸 고형 좌제의 물리화학적 특성

        To develop a clotrimazole-loaded solid suppository with poloxamer and propylene glycol, the melting points of various formulations composed of poloxamer 188 (P 188) and propylene glycol were investigated. The dissolution study of clotrimazole delivered by the suppository composed of P 188 and propylene glycol was performed. The mixtures composed of P 188 and propylene glycol were homogeneous. Propylene glycol affected the melting points of poloxamer mixtures. In particular, the mixture [P 188/propylene glycol (70/30%)] with the melting point of about 32°C was a solid form at room temperature and instantly melted at physiological temperature. Furthermore, propylene glycol affected greatly the dissolution rates of clotrimazole from the suppository. Dissolution mechanism analysis showed the dissolution of clotrimazole was proportional to the time. Our results indicated that the solid suppository with P 188 and propylene glycol would be a candidate of rectal dosage form for clotrimazole.

        QTL Mapping of Kernel Oil Content of Chromosome 6 in a High Oil Maize Mutant (Zea mays L.)

        An infrequent high oil maize mutant CE03005 (white seed color and high oil content) from ethyl methane sulphonate pollen mutagenesis was investigated in this research. A F2 population derived from CE03005×B73 was used to analysis the genetic effects influencing kernel oil content and to map kernel oil content QTL. Ears from three generations were harvested and the individual kernel oil content of each generation was measured with nuclear magnetic resonance. Genetic analysis showed that the average oil content of white kernels was significantly higher than that of yellow kernels. Genotypic and phenotypic analyses were compared using composite interval mapping. A QTL (oilc6-m1)associated with high kernel oil content was detected in the three generations at bin 6.01 of chromosome 6 near the phenotypic marker SC (seed color). The mapping results were congruent with the genetic analysis. The results explained the reason why the oil content of the white colored kernels was higher than that of the yellow ones because the oil content QTL linked tightly with the seed color gene in chromosome 6 in the mutant. The way of QTL mapping was credible. Molecular and phenotypic markers identified could be used for breeding purpose and would lend convenience in cloning QTL.

        The study on the Modern Chinese of the year 2011

        사회의 신속한 발전과 새로운 시사물은 많은 신조어를 생성하게 만들었다. 반면 신조어의 생성과 발전을 통해 사회 여러 측면의 발전을 엿볼 수 있으며, 사람들의 생각, 교류방식과 내용에 영향을 주기도 한다. 연도 신조어를 연구 분석하는 것은 중국어의 발전추세를 파악할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 신조어를 통해 사회문화의 변화를 알 수 있다. 본문은 2011년도 신조어의 음절 분포와 분야를 살펴보았다. 음절 분포에는 우위를 차지하였던 쌍음절 신조어는 점차 줄어지고 있으며 대신 삼음절 신조어는 우위 를 차지하게 되었다. 분야에는 비중을 제일 많이 차지하는 것은 인물, 계 층에 관한 신조어이며, 그 다음은 인터넷 신조어이고, 사회생활에 관한 신조어는 제3위였다.

      • Complement Patterns and NSM Explications of Afraid-Group Emotion Adjectives in English and Chinese

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the complement patterns and Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) explications for two sets of three afraid-group emotion words in English and Chinese: afraid, frightened, and terrified for English and 害怕的(hài pà de), 受惊的(shòu jīng de), and 恐惧的(kǒng jù de) for Chinese. This study also examines the one-to-one correspondence between the words in English and Chinese. The followings are discussed from statistical analysis of 1200 sentences from the corpus data. First, since the English dictionaries provided limited complement patterns of English afraid emotion words, and the Chinese dictionaries provided no complement patterns for Chinese afraid emotion words; (2) NSM semantic analysis can be applied to form the NSM explications of Chinese afraid emotion words; and (3) English afraid group words have certain differences from Chinese afraid group words in terms of degrees of event intensity, the time of bad events (i.e., in the past or future) and experiencers’ desirability to make reactions to avoid bad events.

        A Comparative Study on the Combinative Meanings of Happiness in English and Chinese

        This is a comparative study on the usage of verbs combined with emotion word happiness between English and Chinese speakers. The research questions cover the basic description of the verb types, the verb selection differences, and the potential cultural factors for the verb selection. To address the research questions, 200 sample sentences for each language are collected from corpus and analyzed within four broad verbal categories. It is found that the different cultural contexts may account for the different selection of verbs combined with happiness: (1) the inclination of English speakers to influence others in cultural contexts might account for their preference in explaining happiness than studying the emotion; (2) the cultural value on showing unique thinking mode may help to understand why English speakers would like to pursue such good emotion and even to reduce it, while maintaining such emotion represents a balanced mindset in Chinese culture that emphasizes social harmony; (3) Chinese speakers’ eagerness for happiness may be understood by their expectation in doing things with honor, and their mindset of not wanting to lose face.

        Experimental Studies of Low-Field Landau Quantization in Two-Dimensional Electron Systems in GaAs/AlGaAs Heterostructures

        By applying a magnetic field perpendicular to GaAs/AlGaAs two-dimensional electron systems (2DESs), we study the low-field Landau quantization when the thermal damping is reduced with decreasing temperature. Magneto-oscillations following the Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) formula are observed even when their amplitudes are so large that the deviation to such a formula is expected. Our experimental results show the importance of the positive magneto-resistance to the extension of the SdH formula under the damping induced by the disorder.

        Functional Characterization of aroA from Rhizobium Leguminosarum with Significant Glyphosate Tolerance in Transgenic Arabidopsis

        Glyphosate is the active component of the top-selling herbicide, the phytotoxicity of which is due to its inhibition of the shikimic acid pathway. 5-Enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) is a key enzyme in the shikimic acid pathway. Glyphosate tolerance in plants can be achieved by the expression of a glyphosate-insensitive aroA gene (EPSPS). In this study, we used a PCR-based two-step DNA synthesis method to synthesize a new aroA gene (aroAR. leguminosarum) from Rhizobium leguminosarum. In vitro glyphosate sensitivity assays showed that aroAR. leguminosarum is glyphosate tolerant. The new gene was then expressed in E. coli and key kinetic values of the purified enzyme were determined. Furthermore, we transformed the aroA gene into Arabidopsis thaliana by the floral dip method. Transgenic Arabidopsis with the aroAR. leguminosarum gene was obtained to prove its potential use in developing glyphosate-resistant crops.
