        Cytomegalovirus Infection among Pregnant Women in Beijing: Seroepidemiological Survey and Intrauterine Transmissions

        Primary cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection during pregnancy can cause congenital defects. Available data for CMV infection during pregnancy in north China are inadequate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the epidemiology of maternal CMV infection and explore the incidence of congenital infection. In this prospective study, serum CMV IgG and IgM antibodies were measured in 2,887 pregnant women using ELISA, and the IgG avidity test was performed on all IgM-positive subjects. The seroprevalence of anti-CMV IgG was 94.70%, and of anti-CMV IgM was 1.28%. CMV IgG prevalence increased significantly with age (p < 0.01). Women living in downtown areas showed higher IgG prevalence than those residing in urban areas (p = 0.023). CMV-IgM seroprevalence was highest in autumn (p = 0.021). There was no difference in IgM seroprevalence by age, socioeconomic status, geographical area, or gravida. The rate of primary CMV infection was 0.45% (13/2,887) at the first trimester. The seroconversion rate during pregnancy was 0.76% (22/2,887). One woman underwent seroconversion during pregnancy and gave birth to an infant with asymptomatic CMV infection. Congenital CMV infection was diagnosed in five of the 14 infants from 14 mothers with active infection, for a vertical transmission rate of 35.71% (5/14). Three infants were asymptomatic, whereas two infants presented symptomatic infection with hearing deficits. Although CMV IgG prevalence is relatively high in north China, significant attention to primary CMV infection during pregnancy is still needed.

        中國 會計制度의 發展史的 接近

        중국의 회계는 그 어원으로 보아 요순시대(BC 2000경)로부터 발전된 것으로 보이나 부기가 일반화된 것은 BC475년경 춘추전국시대의 종료 이후 성립된 봉건사회라고 할 수 있다. 중국에서 복식주기에 의한 회계의 시초는 청나라 말기 해외 유학생의 귀국으로 전파된 것으로 보인다. 현재의 중국회계는 러시아 회계의 발전과 약간의 시차를 두고 봉건자본주의회계-사회주의계획경제회계-사회주의시장경제회계의 순서로 변화ㆍ발전되어 왔다. 공산주의 정권의 초기에는 봉건자본주의회계를 원용했기 때문에 사회주의 개조과정에 적합하지 못했다. 따라서 1953년으로부터 1978년까지 형성된 통일회계제도는 중국의 특수한 역사조건하에서 고도로 집중된 계획경제모형아래 건립하였다. 당시 중국의 경제규모가 크지 않고, 그 구조가 간단하여 중앙 집중ㆍ통일의 회계관리 방식에 특별한 결점이 나타나지 않았지만 경제규모의 확대에 따라 과거 회계제도의 부적응이라는 문제점이 부각되었다. 1978년 대외개방이후 주로 중국 영내에 해외직접투자가 급증하면서 이런 기업들을 위해 기업의 입장에서 미시적 차원의 영미식 회계를 필요로 하였다. 이러한 필요성 때문에 도입된 것이 1985년도의 「중화인민공화국회계법」 및 「중외합작경영기업회계제도」이다. 특히 「중외합작경영기업회계제도」는 영미식 회계에 의한 국제적 회계관례에 접근하기 시작한 최초의 회계제도이다. 2000년에 중국이 회계제도를 개혁한 이유는 1998년의 기업회계준칙과 주식유한회사회계제도 중 구체회계준칙 사이의 모순점에 대하여 비록 일부의 보충 규정을 공포하여 조정하였지만 구체적 집행과정에서 일부 주식유한회사의 재무상태와 경영성과 및 현금흐름을 허위로 보고할 수 있는 여지가 남아 있었다. 따라서 2006년의 제2차 회계제도의 개혁은 한마디로 세계화와 개방경제에 알맞은 회계제도의 도입이후 국제회계기준에 근접하는 중국 회계기준의 마련을 위해서 「실질주의」와 「공시의 확대」를 위한 개혁을 단행했다. 한마디로 말하면 2006년 2월의 회계제도개혁은 업종별회계제도의 보류와 회계제도의 국제화라고 요약해 말할 수 있다. 현재 중국의 회계제도 개혁은 대외적 개방에 박차를 가하면서 경제개발을 꾀하고 내부적으로 빈부격차의 문제를 완화시켜야 하는 과제를 안고 있기 때문에 중국의 경제발전단계나 사회주의시장경제라는 중국적 특성과 경제의 국제화 관계를 고려하여 중국내회계제도와 국제회계기준 간의 상호관계를 규정하여 병존시키거나 통일시켜야 할 것이다. The Chinese accounting existed as early as 2000 B.C accompanied by audit function and independent public officials. But Chinese accounting of the double-entry system was adopted in Qing-dynasty. The Chinese accounting based on the private ownership at the first stage of socialism in China existed. The origin of Chinese accounting for social-planning established at year 1953. Which was modified Soviet accounting system. Chinese accounting for social-planning was applied at all economic sectors. After adopting market-based socialism. the revolution of Chinese accounting was changed at, year 1985. 1992, 2000, 2006. The Modern Chinese accounting standards is similar to International Accounting standards. But it is necessary to consider problems of the individual income gap in domestic and globalism of Chinese economy in the revolution of Chinese accounting. So, the Chinese accounting standards changed by fitting to International Accounting standards is not so good all aspects.

        캡사이신유도체를 함유하는 폴록사머 겔제제의 물리화학적 특성 : based Gel Containing Capsaicin Analog

        Physicochemical changes of poloxamer-based gel containing capsaicin analog (N-[3-(3,4-dimethylphenyl)propyl]-4-(2-aminoethoxy)-3-methoxypheny] acetamide) such as drug content, viscosity and surface tension were investigated during the storage conditions at three different temperatures (25, 40 and 60℃) over 90 days. No noticeable changes of color were observed when stored at 25 and 40℃. However, the color of white poloxamer gels turned yellow during storage at 60℃. The drug contents were unchanged during storage at 25℃ but had tendency to decrease at 40℃. The drug contents were highly decreased over 40-50% when stored at 60℃. The viscosity of a poloxamer-based gel was unchanged during storage at 25 and 40℃ but greatly increased at 60℃. The surface tension of a poloxamer-based gel was not changed at three different temperatures. The storage conditions of a poloxamer-based gel containing capsaicin analog can be considered for further clinical applications.

        Tidal Effect on Grouting in Karst Fracture with Flowing Water: Experimental Investigation and Its Application

        To address the problem on grouting control of water inflow disaster in coastal area, a caisson-type grouting experimental system of a single fracture in flowing water under tidal action was developed independently. Through the tide simulation system, the tidal action of different intensity and frequency was effectively described. Tide simulation system, fracture system, grouting system, water supply system and information monitoring system were combined to realize the visualization of the whole grouting process under tidal action. Furthermore, the grouting experiments of a plate fracture under different tidal action were developed and the blocking mechanism under tidal action was revealed. The conclusions were as follow: 1) Under constant water head, the slurry had three typical diffusion patterns, which were circular distribution, double U-shaped distribution and elliptical distribution respectively. 2) Under tidal action, the pressure showed a periodic fluctuation growth, and the growth rate slowed down with the increase of fracture aperture. 3) Strong tidal action would promote the diffusion of and increased the outflow amount of slurry, which was not conducive to grouting. Based on the water inflow treatment project of limestone mine in Guangxi, Through the field grouting tests, the 2# water inflow point was blocked. The research results have a certain reference value for the technology optimization of grouting engineering in coastal areas.

      • Production of <small>L</small>-lactate in <i>Leuconostoc citreum</i> via heterologous expression of <small>L</small>-lactate dehydrogenase gene

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><SMALL>D</SMALL>-form lactate is often found in fermented foods and excessive dietary intake of <SMALL>D</SMALL>-lactate may cause metabolic stress in both infants and patients. <I>Leuconostoc citreum</I> is a major lactic acid bacterium that produces <SMALL>D</SMALL>-lactate in fermented foods. The aim of this study was to change the pyruvate carbon flux in <I>L. citreum</I> from <SMALL>D</SMALL>-lactate into <SMALL>L</SMALL>-lactate by heterologous expression of <SMALL>L</SMALL>-lactate dehydrogenase (<I>ldhL</I>) gene. For this, <I>ldhL</I> from <I>Lactobacillus plantarum</I> was cloned and introduced into <I>L. citreum</I> using a shuttle vector pLeuCM. In the transformant, <I>ldhL</I> was successfully transcribed and <SMALL>L</SMALL>-lactate dehydrogenase was expressed. As a consequence of transformation, the ratio between <SMALL>D</SMALL>- and <SMALL>L</SMALL>-isomers was changed due to the increment of <SMALL>L</SMALL>-lactate and the decrement of <SMALL>D</SMALL>-lactate, but no significant differences were found in total lactate concentration between the host and transformant cells. This is the first report of metabolic engineering in <I>Leuconostoc</I> by modulating the central carbon flux into health-favored way.</P>

        Correlations among Six Hormone-Induced Transcription Factors and the Alcohol Acyltransferase Gene in Apple

        Alcohol acyltransferase (AAT) plays an important role in ester biogenesis in ripening fruit. In apple, MdAAT2 is up-regulated in response to treatment with defense-related hormones. We cloned a novel MdAAT2 promoter via thermal asymmetric interlaced PCR (TAIL-PCR). Sequence analysis indicated the presence of salicylic acid (SA)- and methyl jasmonate (MeJA)-responsive elements in the promoter region. To examine further the operational mechanism for transcription factors (TFs) in regulating expression of the MdAAT2 promoter, we isolated and investigated six potential stress-induced TFs -- MdMYB1, MdMYB2, MdMYB6,MdERF1, MdERF2, and WRKY. These were monitored during various stages of fruit development as well as under several hormonal treatments. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis showed that all of these TF genes, as well as MdAAT2, were detectable in the stigmas. Levels of expression by MdMYB1, MdMYB2, and MdERF1were significantly correlated with that by MdAAT2 during fruit ontogeny. Moreover, transcription of three TFs (MdMYB1,MdMYB6, and MdERF1) was significantly correlated with that of MdAAT2 upon exposure to ethephon, SA, or MeJA. Sequence analysis demonstrated that CAAT, CCAAT elements,and several MYB transcription factor binding sites (CNGTTmotif,AACCA, and CTAACCA elements) existed in the MdAAT2 promoter region. Using that analysis, we performed modeling of MdMYB1 and MdMYB6 based on PROTEINDNA complex1 and complex3 (PDB Accession Numbers 1H88 and 1H8A). There, similarities were found with the protein complex of CAAT or CCAAT consensus sequences. Thus, we propose that two TFs -- MdMYB1 and MdMYB6-- are directly or indirectly involved in the activation of MdAAT2 expression in apple fruit.

      • Synergistic reinforcing of poly(lactic acid)-based systems by polybutylene succinate and nano-calcium carbonate

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Bio-based poly(lactic acid) (PLA) ternary systems were prepared by the solution blending of PLA, polybutylene succinate (PBS), and nano-CaCO<SUB>3</SUB>. The effects of PBS and nano-CaCO<SUB>3</SUB> on the thermal stability, fracture toughness, mechanical properties, and morphology of PLA were investigated using several techniques. The morphology of the systems was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The fracture toughness and flexural strength of PLA were improved by the introduction of PBS and further enhanced by the addition of nano-CaCO<SUB>3</SUB>. The elastic modulus of PLA decreased with the addition of PBS alone, whereas the elastic modulus increased with the simultaneous addition of PBS and nano-CaCO<SUB>3</SUB>.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>The fracture toughness of PLA was improved by the introduction of PBS and further enhanced by the addition of nano-CaCO<SUB>3</SUB>.</P>

        An Integrated Evaluation Method for the Grouting Effect in Karst Areas

        Our proposed integrated evaluation method for the grouting effect in karst areas is based on the cloud model (CM), the analytic hierarchical process (AHP), and a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation system. Our method fully considers the fuzziness and randomness of the evaluation indices, and bridges the gap between qualitative information and a quantitative evaluation value. The evaluation index system for the grouting effect is established by integrating metrics related to the construction technology, apparent parameters, and observational data from inspection holes and geophysical exploration techniques. First, the weight of each index is calculated using the AHP, which has been modified by the CM. Then, we calculate the cloud model membership degree for each index. Finally, we determine the comprehensive evaluation level by examining the similarity measures between the various cloud models. In this case study, we use our integrated method to evaluate the initial results of the grouting treatment project in the China Resources Cement (Pingnan) Limestone Mine. Our results are validated by subsequent monitoring results for this project. This study provides valuable insight into the treatment of water inflow in karst areas.

        Isolation and Functional Analysis of spy1 Responsible for Pristinamycin Yield in Streptomyces pristinaespiralis

        A gene related to high pristinamycin yield in Streptomyces pristinaespiralis was selected by amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) and its functions were investigated by gene disruption. First, a 561 bp polymorphic sequence was acquired by AFLP from high-yield recombinants compared with the S. pristinaespiralis ancestor ATCC25486, indicating that this approach is an effective means of screening for valuable genes responsible for antibiotic yield. Then, a 2,127 bp open reading frame of a gene designated spy1 that overlaps with the above fragment was identified and its structure and biological functions were investigated. In silico analysis of spy1 encoding a deduced 708-amino-acid-long serine/threonine protein kinase showed that it only contains a catalytic domain in the N-terminal region, which is different from some known homologs. Gene inactivation of chromosomal spy1 indicated that it plays a pleiotropic regulatory function in pristinamycin production, with a positive correlation to pristinamycin I biosynthesis and a negative correlation to pristinamycin II biosynthesis.

      • Mycelial Extract of Cordyceps ophioglossoides Prevents Neuronal Cell Death and Ameliorates β-Amyloid Peptide-Induced Memory Deficits in Rats

        Ameliorating effects of methanol extracts of Basidiomycetes against in vitro and in vivo model of Alzheimer’s disease were investigated. The extracts of Cordyceps ophioglossoides and Hypocrea citrina var. citrina prevented the β-amyloid_(25-35) (Aβ_(25-35))-induced cell death in SK-N-SH neuronal cells. However, in rat model of Alzheimer’s disease, 30-d intraperitoneal administration with only the extract of Cordyceps ophioglossoides significantly prevented spatial memory loss by intracranial injection of Aβ_(25-35) which was assessed in water maze task. Interestingly, the scavenging activity of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated in Aβ_(25-35)-treated cells was also found in the extract of Cordyceps ophioglossoides, but not in the extract of Flypocrea citrina var. citrina. These results suggest that the extract of Cordyceps opliioglossoides may protect the Aβ-induced neuronal cell death and memory loss through free radical scavenging activity. These results further suggest that Cordyceps ophioglossoides mycelium may be valuable for the protection from Alzheimer’s dementia.
