<P><I>Eucommia ulmoides</I> Oliv. (EU) has been used for treatment of liver diseases. The protective effects of <I>Eucommia Ulmoides</I> Oliv. cortex extracts (EUCE) on the carbon tetrachloride- (CCl4-) induced hepatic lipid accumulation were examined in this study. Rats were orally treated with EUCE in different doses prior to an intraperitoneal injection of 1 mg/kg CCl4. Acute injection of CCl4 decreased plasma triglyceride but increased hepatic triglyceride and cholesterol as compared to control rats. On the other hand, the pretreatment with EUCE diminished these effects at a dose-dependent manner. CCl4 treatment decreased glutathione (GSH) and increased malondialdehyde (MDA) accompanied by activated P450 2E1. The pretreatment with EUCE significantly improved these deleterious effects of CCl4. CCl4 treatment increased P450 2E1 activation and ApoB accumulation. Pretreatment with EUCE reversed these effects. ER stress response was significantly increased by CCl4, which was inhibited by EUCE. One of the possible ER stress regulatory mechanisms, lysosomal activity, was examined. CCl4 reduced lysosomal enzymes that were reversed with the EUCE. The results indicate that oral pretreatment with EUCE may protect liver against CCl4-induced hepatic lipid accumulation. ER stress and its related ROS regulation are suggested as a possible mechanism in the antidyslipidemic effect of EUCE.</P>

Temporary Shear Brace Design Method for Steel Box Girder Viaduct in Transverse Block Construction
Jin-feng Wang,Min-quan Wang,Yu-bing Zhou,Xi Wu 한국강구조학회 2018 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.18 No.3
Transverse block of a steel box girder viaduct can decrease the shear connection between the upper part and the lower part. As a consequence, defl ection and defl ection diff erence between blocks are signifi cant, and the performance of weld seams and fi nished viaduct can be aff ected. To decrease the defl ection of steel box blocks with an open section after transverse discretization, a piecewise uniform arrangement of temporary shear braces is proposed on condition that the total shear stiff - ness of the shear braces remains unchanged. First, the formulas for slip, axial force and defl ection with a piecewise uniform arrangement of temporary shear braces are given, and the accuracy is verifi ed by comparing the results with fi nite element method. The proposed formulas are applied to two fi eld studies and the results show good agreement with measured data. Finally, the optimal arrangement of temporary shear braces was explored by the sequential quadratic programming optimization method. The defl ection and the defl ection diff erence at welding position are reduced signifi cantly after bracing, and the optimal shear braces arrangement is to arrange the braces more at the ends of the blocks.
A new macro-micro dual drive parallel robot for chromosome dissection
Jin Feng,Feng Gao,Xianchao Zhao,Yi Yue,Renqiang Liu 대한기계학회 2012 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.26 No.1
This paper presents a parallel-structure system dually driven by six servo motors and six piezoelectric actuators. Due to the combination of macro and micro manipulators which are both of orthogonal structures, the proposed system possesses a concise structure as well as actuation isolation and output motion decoupling properties. By using a glass needle mounted on a six-dimensional force sensor in endpoint operating, this system can be applied to chromosome dissection that to make the whole process more efficient and automatic. The glass needle tip has a stroke of 106 mm in three linear motions and 18.7-arc-degrees in three angle motion directions, with servo motors adopted. It also has the resolution of 20 nanometers with the adoption of piezoelectric actuators. The kinematics, isotropy, decoupling and design considerations of the proposed robot are discussed. Workspace and resolution of both macro and micro manipulators are measured separately. The experiments are also conducted to show its capability in dissecting chromosomes.

A shift three-source model is used in this paper to describe the multiplicity and the pseudorapidity distributions of final-state charged particles produced in proton-proton collisions at energies available at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The three kinds of sources are central sources arising from gluon-gluon collisions, target fragmentation sources arising from gluon- or quark-induced collisions with target quarks, and projectile fragmentation sources arising from gluon- or quark-induced collisions with projectile quarks. The central, target fragmentation, and projectile fragmentation sources each have shifts around their centers. The results calculated by using the shift three-source model are in agreement with the experimental data of the ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) and the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid experiment) Collaborations.

Butein, a natural chalcone, has anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective activity. One synthetic derivative of butein, 2',4',6'-tris(methoxymethoxy)chalcone (TMMC), has potent anti-inflammatory activity via an HO-1 (heme oxygenase 1) dependent pathway. The ${\alpha},{\beta}-unsaturated$ ketone moiety in both TMMC and chalcones could be important in mediating this effect. To investigate the structural requirements of TMMC derivatives for anti-inflammatory effects, we modified the ${\alpha},{\beta}-unsaturated$ ketone moiety through catalytic hydrogenation, hydride reduction, or introduction of a triple bond. In addition, we performed structural modifications such as converting the -OMOM group to an -OMe or -OH group. Generally, modifications in the a,_-unsaturated ketone caused a significant decrease or loss of anti-inflammatory activity, which is consistent with the role of the a,_-unsaturated ketone group acting as a Michael acceptor of nucleophilic species like glutathione or cysteine residues on proteins. Chemically, the electron-donating substituents could make the thiol-adduct more stable by decreasing the acidity of the ${\alpha}-hydrogen$ and slowing the speed of the retro-Michael reaction. Also, like previous studies, the 2'-hydroxy group was crucial in increasing the anti-inflammatory effect. The 2'-hydroxy group produced potent anti-inflammatory effects by increasing the electrophilic properties of ${\alpha},{\beta}-unsaturated$ ketones due to hydrogen bonding between the 2'-hydroxy group and the ketone moiety.

The present study compared the developmental potential of cloned porcine embryos with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), fetal fibroblasts (FFs) and cumulus cells (CCs) by assessing the cleavage and blastocyst rate, total cell number, inner cell mass (ICM) ratio and apoptosis. MSCs were isolated by ficoll gradients from femur of -6 month old female pig, and maintained for primary cultures. FFs from a female fetus at ${\sim}30$ day of gestation were established, and CCs were obtained from cumulus oocyte complexes (COCs) aspirated from $3{\sim}6$ mm follicles in diameter. Donor cells at $3{\sim}4$ passage were employed for nuclear transfer (NT). COCs were matured and fertilized in vitro(IVF) as control. Cleavage rate was significantly (P<0.05) higher in IVF than in NT embryos with MSCs, FFs and CCs ($82.7{\pm}8.9%\;vs\;70.6{\pm}5.4,\;68.7{\pm}5.1\;and\;63.4{\pm}5.6%$, respectively). However, blastocyst rates in IVF and NT embryos derived from MSCs ($24.5{\pm}2.8\;and\;20.4{\pm}8.3%$) did not differ, but were significantly (P<0.05) higher than NT derived from FFs and CCs ($10.6{\pm}2.7\;and\;9.8{\pm}2.1%$). Total cell number and the ratio of ICM to total cells among blastocysts cloned from MSCs ($35.4{\pm}5.2\;and\;0.40{\pm}0.09%$, respectively) were significantly (P<0.05) higher than those from FFs and CCs ($24.9{\pm}6.2%\;vs\;0.19{\pm}0.16,\;23.6{\pm}5.5\;and\;0.17{\pm}0.16%$, respectively). Proportions of TUNEL positive cells in NT embryos from FFs and CCs ($6.9{\pm}1.5\;and\;7.4{\pm}1.7%$, respectively) were significantly (P<0.05) higher than in MSCs ($4.8{\pm}1.4%$) and IVF ($2.3{\pm}0.9%$). The results demonstrate that MSCs have a greater potential as donor cells than FFs and CCs in achieving enhanced production of cloned porcine embryos.
Security Threats among DICOM Imaging Communications in Public Networks
Feng Zhou,Zhongqi Zhang,Jin Wang,Bin Li,Jeong-Uk Kim 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.7 No.6
Picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) require high-speed networks to transmit large image files between components. Image-data transmission from one site to another through public network is usually characterized in term of privacy, authenticity, and integrity. However, public network’s security issues had always been the significant problems. Recent years, IPv6 brings significant improvements in mechanisms for assuring a higher level of security and confidentiality of the transmitted information. Thus, it is still necessary to take care of some particular aspects. In this paper, we first analyzes how actual security threats and different types of attacks affect IPv6 networks while transmitting Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) files through the public Internet. Second, illustrate some shortcomings of IPv6 and IPv6’s traffic loads. Finally, some possible solutions against a number of security threats in IPv6 DICOM files transmitting networks have been given.
