<P>The use of silica shells offers many advantages in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)-based biological sensing applications due to their optical transparency, remarkable stability in environmental media, and improved biocompatibility. Here, we report a novel layer-by-layer method for the preparation of silica-hollow gold nanosphere (HGN) SERS tags. Poly(acrylic acid) was used to stabilize Raman reporter-tagged HGNs prior to the adsorption of a coupling agent, after which a silica shell was deposited onto the particle surface using Stöber’s method. Importantly, competitive adsorption of the Raman reporter molecules and coupling agents, which results in unbalanced loading of reporter molecules on individual nanoparticles, was avoided using this method. As a result, the loading density of reporter molecules could be maximized. In addition, HGNs exhibited strong enhancement effects from the individual particles because of their ability to localize the surface electromagnetic fields through pinholes in the hollow particle structures. The proposed layer-by-layer silica-encapsulated HGN tags showed strong SERS signals as well as excellent multiplexing capabilities.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/langd5/2011/langd5.2011.27.issue-16/la201739n/production/images/medium/la-2011-01739n_0002.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/la201739n'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
MicroRNA-1 in Cardiac Diseases and Cancers
Li, Jianzhe,Dong, Xiaomin,Wang, Zhongping,Wu, Jianhua The Korean Society of Pharmacology 2014 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology Vol.18 No.5
MicroRNAs (miRs) are endogenous ${\approx}22$-nt non-coding RNAs that participate in the regulation of gene expression at post-transcriptional level. MiR-1 is one of the muscle-specific miRs, aberrant expression of miR-1 plays important roles in many physiological and pathological processes. In this review, we focus on the recent studies about miR-1 in cardiac diseases and cancers. The findings indicate that miR-1 may be a novel, important biomarker, and a potential therapeutic target in cardiac diseases and cancers.
Planning performance based contracts of repairable system using discrete event simulation
Xinghui Zhang,Jianshe Kang,Jinsong Zhao,Hongzhi Teng 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.10
This paper investigates a discrete event simulation approach for managing performance based contracts of repairable systems. We focuson an integrated service delivery environment where the manufacturer develops capital-intensive systems and also provides aftersalessupport. We propose a simulation model to calculate system availability comprehending four performance drivers: life time distribution, repair time distribution, spare parts inventory, and repair facility. This simulation model allows the service supplier to minimizethe total cost by optimizing the four performance drivers. In this simulation model, the failure time and repair time can follow arbitrarydistribution. This will allow the customer to monitor the supplier’s service through comparing the actual availability and its theoreticalvalue. The costs of three maintenance policies also can be studied under the performance based contracts framework. Two cases are consideredin this paper. One is a system containing single unit, one warehouse, and one repair center. Another is a system containing twofleets with different installed units, two spare part warehouses with one for each fleet, and a central repair depot.
OSCILLATIONS FOR EVEN-ORDER NEUTRAL DIFFERENCE EQUATIONS
Zhou, Zhan,Yu, Jianshe,Lei, Guanglong 한국전산응용수학회 2000 The Korean journal of computational & applied math Vol.7 No.3
Consider the even-order neutral difference equation (*) ${\delta}^m(x_n{-}p_ng(x_{n-k}))-q_nh(x_{n-1})=0$, n=0,1,2,... where $\Delta$ is the forward difference operator, m is even, ${-p_n},{q_n}$ are sequences of nonnegative real numbers, k, l are nonnegative integers, g(x), h(x) ${\in}$ C(R, R) with xg(x) > 0 for $x\;{\neq}\;0$. In this paper, we obtain some linearized oscillation theorems of (*) for $p_n\;{\in}\;(-{\infty},0)$ which are discrete results of the open problem by Gyori and Ladas.
Preparation and Drug Release Behavior of Tussah Silk Fibroin Composite Membrane
Zhuang Hu,Kaixia An,Jia Wang,Xiaoxu Xu,Zhangpei Chen,Jianshe Hu,Liqun Yang 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.2
Silk fibroin (SF) aqueous solution was obtained by the degumming and dissolution of tussah silk, and then the obtained solution was chemically cross-linked with sodium alginate (SA) to form composite membrane, which could be used as a carrier for sustained drug release. The mechanical properties and dissolution rate of such composite membrane togetherwith the drug release behavior under different conditions were investigated. A series of structure-tunable composite membranes were prepared through altering the ingredients proportion, the pH value during fabrication, the concentration of Ca2+, and cross-linking time. The drug release behavior of the corresponding drug-loaded composite membrane was elaborate studied using artemisinin as the model drug. It was found that the drug release rate exhibited a decreasing trend with increasing the SF content, the Ca2+ concentration and the cross-linking time of the corresponding composite membrane. Moreover, the drug release behavior exhibited pH sensitivity, and the drug release rate could be promoted under weak alkaline conditions.
