Analysis of Magnetic Particle Agglomeration Structure and Interaction Forces Between Magnetic Particles

        Jia Long,Zixu Miao,Huihuang Chen,Rongdong Deng,Weiran Zuo,Bao Guo,Jiangang Ku 한국자기학회 2020 Journal of Magnetics Vol.25 No.1

Chain-like and diamond-shaped magnetic particle agglomeration (MPA) commonly forming in a weak magnetic field are simulated based on the finite element method (FEM), and the effects of particle diameter, magnetic field strength, particle relative magnetic permeability, and particle number in magnetic particle chains (MPCs) and diamond-shaped MPA on the strength of MPA are analysed in detail. The results show that magnetic forces on the centre contact points (CCPs) of MPA are positively correlated with the particle diameter, magnetic field strength, particle relative magnetic permeability, and particle number. In addition, the forces on the CCPs of the MPCs (N=2) have a square relationship with the particle diameter and magnetic field strength and have a power relationship of 1.25 with the particle relative magnetic permeability. The forces on each contact point decrease slowly from the centre to both ends in the MPCs and then rapidly decrease to one value (approximately 0.779 times the forces on the CCPs). As for the diamond-shaped MPA, with the increase in the angle α between the magnetic field and axis of diamond-shaped MPA, the force magnitude of the particle entrained parallelly in the diamond-shaped MPA shows a trend of a “cosine curve” shape and the minimum value is 2109 times that of the entrained particle’s gravity. The angle θ between the direction of the force and the negative X-axis shows a trend of a “sine curve” shape. When α = 25° and 155°, the angle θ of the force on the entrained particle reaches an extreme value, that is, θ = 21.87°. Only if the angle θ reaches 30º can the particle entrained parallelly escape from the diamond-shaped MPA. Thus, the diamond-shaped MPA remains in a stable state and it is difficult to disperse MPA by changing the direction of the magnetic field.

A Dynamic Head Gesture Recognition Method for Real-time Intention Inference and Its Application to Visual Human-robot Interaction

        Jialong Xie,Botao Zhang,Qiang Lu,Oleg Borisov 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2024 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.22 No.1

Head gesture is a natural and non-verbal communication method for human-computer and human-robot interaction, conveying attitudes and intentions. However, the existing vision-based recognition methods cannot meet the precision and robustness of interaction requirements. Due to the limited computational resources, applying most high-accuracy methods to mobile and onboard devices is challenging. Moreover, the wearable device-based approach is inconvenient and expensive. To deal with these problems, an end-to-end two-stream fusion network named TSIR3D is proposed to identify head gestures from videos for analyzing human attitudes and intentions. Inspired by Inception and ResNet architecture, the width and depth of the network are increased to capture motion features sufficiently. Meanwhile, convolutional kernels are expanded from the spatial domain to the spatiotemporal domain for temporal feature extraction. The fusion position of the two-stream channel is explored under an accuracy/complexity trade-off to a certain extent. Furthermore, a dynamic head gesture dataset named DHG and a behavior tree are designed for human-robot interaction. Experimental results show that the proposed method has advantages in real-time performance on the remote server or the onboard computer. Furthermore, its accuracy on the DHG can surpass most state-of-the-art vision-based methods and is even better than most previous approaches based on head-mounted sensors. Finally, TSIR3D is applied on Pepper Robot equipped with Jetson TX2.

Assessment of surface ship environment adaptability in seaways: A fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method

Jialong Jiao,Huilong Ren,Shuzheng Sun 대한조선학회 2016 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.8 No.4

Due to the increasing occurrence of maritime accidents and high-level requirements and modernization of naval wars, the concept of ship environment adaptability becomes more and more important. Therefore, it is of great importance to carry out an evaluation system for ship environment adaptability, which contributes to both ship design and classification. This paper develops a comprehensive evaluation system for ship environment adaptability based on fuzzy mathematics theory. An evaluation index system for ship environment adaptability is elaborately summarized first. Then the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy weighting methods are applied to aggregate the evaluations of criteria weights for each criterion and the corresponding subcriteria. Next, the multilevel fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is applied to assess the ship integrative environment adaptability. Finally, in order to verify the proposed approach, an illustrative example for optimization and evaluation of five ship alternatives is adopted. Moreover, the influence of criteria weights, membership functions and fuzzy operators on the results is also analyzed.

Molecular Cloning, Characterization, and Expression of a Catalase Gene in the Japanese Scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis Induced in the Presence of Cadmium

        Jialong Gao,Shoichiro Ishizaki,Yuji Nagashima 한국해양과학기술원 2016 Ocean science journal Vol.51 No.2

Cadmium (Cd) is known to influence the oxidative status of marine organisms and can induce the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Catalase (CAT) is one of the important enzymes involved in scavenging high levels of ROS. In present study, we cloned CAT cDNA and investigated the response of this enzyme at the transcriptional level in the Japanese scallop Mizuhopecten yessoensis exposed to Cd. The full-length CAT cDNA (MyCAT) of 1,870 nucleotides including a 57 bp 5’-UTR, a coding sequence of 1,500 bp and a 313 bp 3’-UTR were identified from the scallop. The deduced amino acid sequence of MyCAT corresponds to 499 amino acids with predicted molecular weight of 56.48 kDa and contains highly conserved motifs of the proximal heme-binding site RLFSYSTH, proximal active signature FNRERIPERVVHAKGGG and three catalytic amino acid residues His72, Asn145, and Tyr355. Its significant homology to CATs from multiple alignments revealed that MyCAT had a high identity with CATs from other mollusks. CAT mRNA expression analysis revealed that expression level was highest in the digestive gland ( p < 0.01) but weak in muscle. Following exposure to 200 and 400 μg/l of Cd, a high amount of Cd was found to have accumulated in the digestive gland and CAT mRNA expression had significantly increased in this organ among 7-day exposed scallops (p < 0.001). The result demonstrated that antioxidant enzymes such as CAT play important roles in counteracting Cd stress in M. yessoensis.

A comprehensive study on ship motion and load responses in short-crested irregular waves

Jialong Jiao,Chaohe Chen,Huilong Ren 대한조선학회 2019 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.11 No.1

Wave-induced ship motion and load responses are usually investigated on the assumption that the incident waves are long-crested. The realistic sea waves are however short-crested irregular waves. Real practice reveals that the ship motion and load responses induced by short-crested waves are different from those induced by long-crested waves. This paper aims to conduct a comprehensive study on ship motions and loads in different wave fields. For this purpose, comparative studies by small-scale model towing tank test and large-scale model sea trial are conducted to experimentally identify the difference between ship motions and loads in long-crested and short-crested irregular waves. Moreover, the influences of directional spreading function of short-crested waves on ship motions and loads are analyzed by numerical seakeeping calculation. The results and conclusions obtained from this study are of great significance for the further extrapolation and estimation of ship motions and loads in short-crested waves based on long-crested wave response results.

TGF-β1/IL-11/MEK/ERK signaling mediates senescence-associated pulmonary fibrosis in a stress-induced premature senescence model of Bmi-1 deficiency

        Haiyun Chen,Jialong Liang,Xin Gu,Jiawen Zhou,Chunfeng Xie,Xianhui Lv,Rong Wang,Qing Liu,Zhiyuan Mao,Haijian Sun,Guoping Zuo,Dengshun Miao,Jianliang Jin 생화학분자생물학회 2020 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.52 No.-

To study whether TGF-β1/IL-11/MEK/ERK (TIME) signaling mediates senescence-associated pulmonary fibrosis (SAPF) in Bmi-1-deficient (Bmi-1−/−) mice and determines the major downstream mediator of Bmi-1 and crosstalk between p16INK4a and reactive oxygen species that regulates SAPF, phenotypes were compared among 7-week-old p16INK4a and Bmi-1 double-knockout, N-acetylcysteine (NAC)-treated Bmi-1−/−, Bmi-1−/−, and wild-type mice. Pulmonary fibroblasts and alveolar type II epithelial (AT2) cells were used for experiments. Human pulmonary tissues were tested for type Ι collagen, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), p16INK4a, p53, p21, and TIME signaling by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Our results demonstrated that Bmi-1 deficiency resulted in a shortened lifespan, ventilatory resistance, poor ventilatory compliance, and SAPF, including cell senescence, DNA damage, a senescence-associated secretory phenotype and collagen overdeposition that was mediated by the upregulation of TIME signaling. The signaling stimulated cell senescence, senescence-related secretion of TGF-β1 and IL-11 and production of collagen 1 by pulmonary fibroblasts and the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition of AT2 cells. These processes were inhibited by anti-IL-11 or the MEK inhibitor PD98059. NAC treatment prolonged the lifespan and ameliorated pulmonary dysfunction and SAPF by downregulating TIME signaling more than p16INK4a deletion by inhibiting oxidative stress and DNA damage and promoting ubiquitinproteasome degradation of p16INK4a and p53. Cytoplasmic p16INK4a accumulation upregulated MEK/ERK signaling by inhibiting the translocation of pERK1/2 (Thr202/Tyr204) from the cytoplasm to the nucleus in senescent fibroblasts. The accumulation of collagen 1 and α-SMA in human lungs accompanied by cell senescence may be mediated by TIME signaling. Thus, this signaling in aging fibroblasts or AT2 cells could be a therapeutic target for preventing SAPF.

Early fault detection method for rolling bearing based on multiscale morphological filtering of information-entropy threshold

Lingli Cui,Jialong Wang,Jianfeng Ma 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.4

The scale of structure element is especially important to obtain good filtering results in multiscale morphological filtering (MMF) method. In general, the optimal scale of structure element is set to be a fixed value in traditional morphological filter, therefore it is difficult to extract the fault feature from rolling bearing vibration signal effectively. A novel multiscale morphological filtering algorithm is proposed based on information-entropy threshold (IET-MMF) for early fault detection of rolling bearing. Compared with traditional MMF method, several optimal scales of structure elements are achieved according to the energy distribution characteristic of different vibration signals. The information entropy theory is applied to quantify the analyzed signals, and the optimal threshold of information entropy is obtained by iterative algorithm to ensure integrity of useful information. The simulation and rolling bearing experimental analysis results show that the IET-MMF method can extract fault features of vibration signals effectively.
