Enhanced NOx Gas Sensing Performance Based on Indium-Doped Co(OH)2 Nanowire-Graphene Nanohybrids
Jiabao Song,Yufei Lin,Kan Kan,Jingchao Wang,Songying Liu,Li Li,Keying Shi 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2015 NANO Vol.10 No.6
"In this paper, the In(OH)3/Co(OH)2/rGO (ICG) nanohybrids have been synthesized via a simple reflux method. It was found that the nanostructures were actually composed of thin nanosheets or nanowires. The addition of indium in Co(OH)2 on rGO results in increase in the specific area of nanohybrids (105.7 m2 g-1 ). That enhanced the gas sensing responses to NOx compared with Co(OH)2/rGO significantly. The ICG nanohybrids with the mass ratio of 5:1 (ICG-5) exhibited excellent gas-sensing properties with low detection limit of 0.97 ppm and high sensitivity of 75.32% to 97 ppm NOx at room temperature (RT). The gas sensor also showed excellent selectivity to NOx when other common gases such as NH3, CO, C2H2 and H2 were present. The sensing mechanism could be attributed to the charge carrier concentration of Co(OH)2 greatly increased by indium doping, which at last encourages the electron transfer during the interaction with gases."
Modulation of the MJO and North Pacific Storm Track Relationship by the QBO
Wang, Jiabao,Kim, Hye-Mi,Chang, Edmund K. M.,Son, Seok-Woo American Geophysical Union 2018 Journal of geophysical research. Atmospheres Vol.123 No.8

This study demonstrates a possible impact of the quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) on the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO)-related North Pacific storm track (NPST) change during October-March for the period of 1979-2016. The NPST shows significant intraseasonal changes in response to the MJO. In general, when the MJO convection is located over the Indian Ocean (western to central Pacific), the NPST tends to shift poleward (southward). This MJO-related NPST change has larger amplitude during the easterly phase of the QBO (EQBO) than during its westerly phase (WQBO). The spatial distribution of this NPST change also exhibits significant differences between the two QBO phases with a zonally elongated pattern during EQBO winters but separated into two centers during WQBO winters. Diagnoses of the dynamical processes associated with the NPST change indicate the dominant roles of the baroclinic energy conversion and downstream energy propagation. The analysis of intraseasonal flow change indicates a larger amplitude of the MJO-related baroclinicity over the North Pacific. This is likely due to a stronger MJO and associated Rossby wave source in EQBO winters, which may give rise to the enhanced amplitude of the NPST change. On the other hand, different spatial distribution of the NPST change is likely a result of a direct impact of the QBO on the NPST. These results suggest that the QBO impact needs to be considered for better reproduction of the MJO-NPST teleconnection in general circulation models, which may also benefit subseasonal prediction of extratropical storm activities.

To ensure the measuring accuracy of the wall temperature, the outer wall temperature measurement values by using three kinds of thermocouple welding methods were analyzed and evaluated in the paper, including singlepoint flush-mounted in the wall groove method, single-point insert-mounted in the wall groove, and outer surface direct welding method, based on the application of a tube-in-tube condensing heat exchanger. And the impacts of silver, tin, and thermal resistance adhesive as filling materials on wall temperature measurement were also investigated, and the results were compared to that obtained without filling materials. The results showed that the wall temperatures measured by the three welding methods were lower than the theoretically calculated value. And the wall temperature measured by the outer surface direct welding method was lowest under the same experimental conditions. The wall temperatures measured by single-point flush-mounted and insertmounted in the wall groove methods were also affected by different welding filling materials. It was found that the greater the thermal resistance of filling materials, the smaller the heat loss. By analyzing the reasons for the low measured value of wall temperature, a new wall temperature measurement method was developed to improve the accuracy of the current measurement method. Meanwhile, the outer wall temperature measurement experiments of vertical and horizontal heat transfer tubes were carried out to validate and calibrate the improved outer wall temperature measurement method. The results showed that the average outer wall temperature deviation measured by the improved wall temperature measurement method ranged from 0.82% to +2.29% for vertical tubes and 4.75% to 1.44% for horizontal tubes, and the improved measurement method had good measurement accuracy.

The leaves of Aster glehni Fr. Schm. (Asteraceae) have been used to treat insomnia in Korea. Insomnia is a common adverse effect of therapeutic agents for Alzheimer's disease (AD), and the control of sleep disturbance may prevent dementia. We hypothesized that the leaves of A. glehni can attenuate cognitive dysfunctions observed in AD. We observed the ameliorating effects of the ethanolic extract of leaves of A. glehni (AG-D) on memory dysfunction through the Morris water maze test, the passive avoidance test, and the Y-maze test. We performed acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity assay and Western blotting to determine the mechanism of action of AG-D. AG-D significantly attenuated memory dysfunction observed in the above behavior studies and inhibited the activity of AChE. AG-D also increased the levels of phosphorylation extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), cAMP response element-binding protein (CREB), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (Akt), and glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK-3β) and the expression levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the hippocampi. These results suggest that AG-D ameliorates memory impairments by AChE inhibition and activation of ERK-CREB-BDNF and PI3K-Akt-GSK-3β signaling pathways. Taken together, this study suggests that AG-D could be used as a potential treatment for cognitive dysfunction.

Bao Yuan,Shuang Liang,Jiabao Zhang,Jeong-Woo Kwon,Shun-Ha Park,Hai-Yang Wang,PIAO XUAN JING,Xiang-Shun Cui,Nam-Hyung Kim 한국수정란이식학회 2016 한국수정란이식학회 학술대회 Vol.2016 No.10
In the present study, we examined potential roles of glucose and pyruvate in nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation of porcine oocytes. In the presence and absence of 10% porcine follicular fluid (PFF), either 5.6 mM glucose or 2mM pyruvate effect on meiotic maturation and followed development ability. However, DOs doesn't take full advantage of the glucose in medium, only pyruvate can increase MII rate and follow early embryo development ability significance. COCs were matured with 200 uM pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) inhibitor (dehydroepiandrosterone, DHEA) or 2 μM glycolysis inhibitor (iodoacetate, IA), significantly lower levels of GHS in the DHEA an IA treated oocytes and the levels of ROS were higher significantly in the DHEA treated oocytes, treatment with DHEA significantly reduced the intra-oocyte ATP and NADPH level. Blastocysts from DHEA or IA treated group also presented higher apoptosis levels, meanwhile, the percentage of proliferating cells was dramatically lower than the non-treated group. In conclusion, our results suggest that 10% PFF promoted oocytes make full use of energy, glucose metabolism during in vitro maturation inseparable from the cumulus cells, PPP and glycolysis promoted porcine oocytes cytoplasmic maturation by supplying energy and reducing oxidative stress.
Magnetic Anisotropies in Cobalt-Nickel Ferrites (NixCo1-xFe2O4)
Binghai Liu,Jun Ding,Jiabao Yi,Jianhua Yin,Zhili Dong 한국물리학회 2008 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.52 No.5
This work presents a detailed study on the various magnetic anisotropies of NixCo1..xFe2O4 prepared by using a mechanochemical process. The results indicated that the magnetic anisotropy of NixCo1..xFe2O4 was strongly correlated with the Co2+ concentration. The Ni2+ substitution readily led to a decrease in the magnetocrystalline anisotropy and coercivity. While a large uniaxial anisotropy was induced in CoFe2O4 by magneto-annealing, the uniaxial anisotropy decreased with the Ni concentration in NixCo1..xFe2O4 and disappeared in the pure NiFe2O4. A short-time mechanical milling was found to signicantly increase the coercivity in NixCo1..xFe2O4 samples and high coercivities of 5.1 kOe and 2.8 kOe were achieved in the CoFe2O4 and the Ni0:5Co0:5Fe2O4 samples respectively. The microstructure and magnetic studies indicated that the milling-induced high coercivity could be ascribed to milling-induced stress anisotropy and to the pinning eects of defects.
