        Graphene accelerates osteoblast attachment and biomineralization

        In this paper, the in vitro biocompatibility of graphene film (GF) with osteoblasts was evaluated through cell adhesion, viability, alkaline phosphatase activity, F-actin and vinculin expressions, versus graphite paper as a reference material. The results showed that MG-63 cells exhibited stronger cell adhesion, better proliferation and viability on GF, and osteoblasts cultured on GF exhibited vinculin expression throughout the cell body. The rougher and wrinkled surface morphology, higher elastic modulus and easy out-of-plane deformation associated with GF were considered to promote cell adhesion. Also, the biomineralization of GF was assessed by soaking in simulated body fluid, and the GF exhibited enhanced mineralization ability in terms of mineral deposition, which almost pervaded the entire GF surface. Our results suggest that graphene promotes cell adhesion, activity and the formation of bonelike apatite. This research is expected to facilitate a better understanding of graphene-cell interactions and potential applications of graphene as a promising toughening nanofiller in bioceramics used in load-bearing implants.

        Grey Wolf Optimization based Active Disturbance Rejection Control Parameter Tuning for Ship Course

        It is important to control the ship course in complicated ocean environment. In this paper, a Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) based Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) tuning method is proposed in the application of the ship course. Here, GWO is used to tune the parameters of ADRC. To validate the performance of the proposed method, some simulations have been carried out and the results are compared with the results of other tuning methods, such as, Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Q-learning and manual tuning. To test the stability of different tuning methods, the cases of no disturbance, constant value disturbance, second-order wave force disturbance, white noise disturbance and mixed disturbance are considered. The robustness of the system for parameters perturbation is analyzed. The research indicates that the GWO based ADRC can achieve better performance than other methods.

        Ginsenoside Rd alleviates mouse acute renal ischemia/reperfusion injury by modulating macrophage phenotype

        Background: Ginsenoside Rd (GSRd), a main component of the root of Panax ginseng, exhibits anti-inflammation functions and decreases infarct size in many injuries and ischemia diseases such as focal cerebral ischemia. M1 Macrophages are regarded as one of the key inflammatory cells having functions for disease progression. Methods: To investigate the effect of GSRd on renal ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) and macrophage functional status, and their regulatory role on mouse polarized macrophages in vitro, GSRd (10-100 mg/kg) and vehicle were applied to mice 30 min before renal IRI modeling. Renal functions were reflected by blood serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen level and histopathological examination. M1 polarized macrophages infiltration was identified by flow cytometry analysis and immunofluorescence staining with $CD11b^+$, $iNOS^+$/interleukin-12/tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ labeling. For the in vitro study, GSRd ($10-100{\mu}g/mL$) and vehicle were added in the culture medium of M1 macrophages to assess their regulatory function on polarization phenotype. Results: In vivo data showed a protective role of GSRd at 50 mg/kg on Day 3. Serum level of serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen significantly dropped compared with other groups. Reduced renal tissue damage and M1 macrophage infiltration showed on hematoxylin-eosin staining and flow cytometry and immunofluorescence staining confirmed this improvement. With GSRd administration, in vitro cultured M1 macrophages secreted less inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-12 and tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$. Furthermore, macrophage polarization-related pancake-like morphology gradually changed along with increasing concentration of GSRd in the medium. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that GSRd possess a protective function against renal ischemia/reperfusion injury via downregulating M1 macrophage polarization.

        Characterization of Ecdysteroid UDP-Glucosyltransferase Gene Promoter from Bombyx mori Nucleopolyhedrovirus

        Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) ecdysteroid UDP-glucosyltransferase gene (egt) promoter fragments of different lengths were amplified from BmNPV ZJ-8 genomic DNA by PCR. Reporter plasmids pBmegt542-luc, pBmegt309-luc and pBmegt159- luc with luciferase (luc) driven by egt promoters were constructed. Both in vitro and in vivo expressions showed that BmNPV egt promoter activity requires the transactivation of viral factor(s), and expression of luc was detected earliest at 24 hrs post infection (pi). BmNPV ZJ-8 homologous region 3 (hr3) increased the expression of luc by over 1,600-fold. Molting hormone of 1.0 ~ 2.0 mg/ml can dramatically down regulate expression of luc. Juvenile hormone analogue of 0.5 ~ 2.0 mg/ml increased expression of luc by 145.8% to 75.7%. Deletion assay revealed that the promoter fragment of 159 bp contains the basal promoter structure; Promoter fragments of 309 bp and 542 bp showed similar but much higher transcriptional activities than that of 159 bp, suggesting that nucleotide from -159 to -309 nt upstream the translation initiation site harbors the main cis-acting elements.

        Rapid and massive throughput analysis of a constant volume high-pressure gas injection system

        Fusion power shutdown system (FPSS) is a safety system to stop plasma in case of accidents or incidents. The gas injection system for the FPSS presented in this work is designed to research the flow developmentin a closed system. As the efficiency of the system is a crucial property, plenty of experiments areexecuted to get optimum parameters. In this system, the flow is driven by the pressure difference betweena gas storage tank and a vacuum vessel with a source pressure. The idea is based on a constantvolume system without extra source gases to guarantee rapid response and high throughput. Amongthem, valves and gas species are studied because their properties could influence the velocity of the fluidfield. Then source pressures and volumes are emphasized to investigate the volume flow rate of theinjection. The source pressure has a considerable effect on the injected volume. From the data, properparameters are extracted to achieve the best performance of the FPSS. Finally, experimental results areused as a quantitative benchmark for simulations which can add our understanding of the inner gas flowin the pipeline. In generally, there is a good consistency and the obtained correlations will be applied infurther study and design for the FPSS

        재해 발생시 임시건물의 대안으로써 임시학교 건축에 대한 연구 : 컨테이너를 중심으로

        최근 몇 년간, 지구 온난화의 영향으로 인한 기상의 변화로 천재지변이 빈번하게 일어나 많은 인명피해와 재산상의 손실이 발생하였다. 천재지변의 발생은 급작스럽고, 예측하기가 매우 어렵기 때문에 천재지변이 일어난 후 빠르게 복구를 도울 수 있는 건축방식이 필요한데 원가가 낮고, 빠르게 지을 수 있으며, 운반, 해체 및 조립의 용이함이 요구된다. 이전 연구의 대부분은 이재민들에게 필요한 임시건물 건설에만 집중 되어 있었지만, 연구자는 재해지역의 어린아이들에 대한 관심 즉 재해지역의 학생들이 가능한 한 빨리 학교에 등교할 수 있도록 임시 학교 건물의 환경적인 개선을 논하였다. 연구자는 선행 연구와 사례 분석을 통해 컨테이너 건물을 천재지변이 발생한 후 복구에 필요한 임시건물로 사용하여 임시학교의 환경을 개선하고 학생들에게 보다 더 안전하고 쾌적한 학교환경을 제공할 것이다. In recent years, natural disasters have occurred due to frequent meteorological changes under the impact of global warming, which is causing tremendous human casualties and property losses. As such unexpected disaster is quite to predict, the architectural method is needed, which is able to help repair rapidly after the natural disaster and which is low cost, fast construction and convenient to carry, assembly and disassembly. In previous times, the researchers paid more attention to the temporary living building of the victims and less attention to the study life of the children. The current researchers are focusing on the study life of the children in disaster area and how to construct the temporary school in shortest time, which enables the students to recover their study soon. Through the previous research and case analysis, the researchers will consider the containers as the temporary buildings that are needed by reconstructing after natural disaster and enhance the temporary school environment and provide students with the more comfortable and safer one’s students.

        유니버설 디자인을 통한 부산 버스정류장 디자인 개선방안 연구

        버스정류장은 시민들이 대중교통을 이용할 수 있는 첫 번째 정류장이자 출발점이다. 도시 공공시설의 중요한 부분으로서, 버스정류장은 도시의 이미지를 나타낸다. 완전한 대합 기능을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 사용자 수요 사항에 따라 버스정류장도 충분히 고려해야 한다. 부산의 미래 발전 방향은 국제적 도시이며 시민과 외국인, 모든 연령층의 사람들이 지역적 자연환경, 기후특성, 도시 문화적 배경과 결합하여 지역적 특성을 설계하여 한다. 사용자의 수요를 충족시키며 시민들의 건강과 정서적 수요를 배려하는 것이다. 버스정류장은 미래 발전 추세로 국제도시의 공공시설 건설기준에 부합할 것이다. 본 연구는 유니버설 디자인 기준에 적용하는 버스정류장 건설, 버스정류장 시설 개선, 사용자 만족도를 향상 등을 목적으로 한다. 이에 부산지역 버스정류장을 연구대상으로 부산 시내 버스정류장 시설 현황조사를 통하여 국외 버스정류장의 분석 및 비교가 버스정류장의 만족도와 결합하여 설문 조사 결과를 바탕으로 부산 버스정류장의 존재하는 문제점을 분석하고 개선방안을 제시한다. 버스정류장은 사용자의 안전을 보장하고 안전 건설을 늘려야 한다. 편안하고 합리적인 시설과 환경을 제공하여 한다. 지속 가능한 발전의 관점에서 우리는 친환경적이고 지능적인 버스정류장을 건설하여야 한다. 마지막으로 부산의 독특한 역사와 문화를 반영할 수 있는 아름다움과 지역성의 버스정류장을 주목하여야 한다. 본 연구결과는 부산 버스정류장의 유니버설 디자인에 어느 정도 참고를 제공하였으며, 다른 도시의 공공시설물 유니버설 디자인에 대한 참고를 제공할 수 있으므로 후속연구에도 시사점을 제시하였다. Taking bus stations in the Busan area as the research object, through the evaluation of bus station facilities in Busan Investigate the current situation, analyze and compare foreign bus stations, combine the results of the questionnaire data on the satisfaction of the bus station, summarize the problems that exist in the bus station in Busan at the emergence stage, and propose improvement suggestions and measures. To ensure the safety of users, increase the construction of safety. Provide comfortable and reasonable facilities and environment. From the perspective of sustainable development, we must build environmentally friendly and intelligent bus stations. Finally, we must pay attention to the beauty and regionality of the bus station that can reflect the unique history and culture of Busan. The research results of this paper have certain reference and guiding significance for the general design of Busan bus station, and provide reference and reference for the general design of public facilities in other cities, and provide the possibility for subsequent research.
