        MicroRNA 452 regulates ASB8, NOL8, and CDR2 expression in colorectal cancer cells

        Background MicroRNAs play important roles in the pathogenesis of human diseases by regulating target gene expression in specifc cells or tissues. Previously, we identifed microRNA 452 (MIR452), which was specifcally up-regulated in early stage human colorectal cancer (CRC) tissue. Objective The current study aims to identify and verify the target genes of MIR452 associated with CRC. Methods A luciferase reporter system was used to confrm the efect of MIR452 on ASB8, NOL8, and CDR2 expression. The expression levels of MIR452 and the target genes were evaluated by quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blotting. Results We verifed the association between MIR452 and three genes, ASB8, NOL8, and CDR2, and showed that their transcripts were down-regulated by MIR452. Up-regulated MIR452 also down-regulated ASB8, NOL8, and CDR2 mRNA and protein levels in CRC cells. CDR2 protein expression was decreased in CRC tissues compared to adjacent non-tumor tissues. Conclusions These results suggest that ASB8, NOL8, and CDR2 were target genes of MIR452 in CRC cells and that upregulated MIR452 in CRC tissue regulated ASB8, NOL8, and CDR2 expression during colorectal carcinogenesis.

        노인(老人) 천증(喘證)에 대(對)한 임상적(臨床的) 고찰(考察)

        Clinical observation was done on 372 Cheon-Jeung patients more than 65 years of age in Department of Internal Medicine, Oriental Medical Hospital in Dong Guk Univ. from December 1990 to November 1991. The results were as follows; 1. The ratio of male to female was 1.2:1. The age distribution showed the large number in the 65-69 year group, the female more than the male in 8th decade. 2. The peak age in the on set was 7th decade(44.4%). 3. The ratio of the season distribution was as follows, everytime 62.6%, fall and winter 25.5%. 4. Duration from on set, the most frequence was $5{\sim}10$ years(29.6%). 5. Chief complaints were represented cough, laryngeal stridorand, dyspnea. 6. In past illness, Pulmonary. The was most predominent(29.7%) followed by allergic disease(8.1%), bronchitis(7.2%) in turn. 7. In complication, Pul. Tbc was most predominent(21.1%) followed by ronchiectasis (12.7), cardiac disease(11.3%). 8. Predisposing factors in the Geriatric athma were represented chiefly exercising(41.8%), the others is Pung-Han-Neng(27.6%), respiratory infection(12.7%) etc. 9. The recipe which used in treatment were Gamigeumsuyukgun-jeon, Gamimahwangyunpai-tang, Gamiyunpai-tang, Sojaganggi-tang, Cheongsangboha-tang etc. 10. Duration of treatment was noted within 10 days was 39.2%, $11{\sim}30$ days was 40.6%, over 60 days was 7.3%. 11. About 77.3% patients were improved.

        Taekwondo became a world-wide sport beyond the symbol of Korean traditional culture. Taekwondo go through its value and put love for humanity and love of peace in practice in order to share love and participation with a citizen of the world. There are three essential prerequisite essentials for Taekwondo to be loved by people from all of the world in a globalizational era. Those are renovation, reinforcement, and solidarity and it can be practiced through revision of match rules, improvement of equipment, continuance of exhibition tour, and dispatch of masters.Also, educational values of Taekwondo is very important to achieve peace and happiness of all mankinds. Those are follows;First, Taekwondo has a basis of education for the whole man. Second, Taekwondo masters have authority as a leader. Third, Taekwondo training places are educational sites.       • 압박궤양의 누도를 둘러싸고 발생한 화골성근염의 치험례 : 증례보고

        Extraskeletal bone-forming lesions are myositis ossificans, and fibrodysplasia(myositis) ossificans progressiva. Myositis ossificans is found most commonly in the musculature, but it may also joint ankylosis severely, It occurs as the result of various kinds of soft tissue injury and also observed in paraplegics secondary to traumatic spinal injury, If myositis ossificans advanced with pressure sore, pelvis-femur adhearence will occur and it's treatment will difficult, and many complications occur. For that reason, myositis ossificans will be treated by adjust operation and treatment. We report our experience of acute perifistula myositis ossificans and the related literature was reviewed.

      • 五倍子가 Alloxan에 의한 實驗的 糖尿病 마우스의 膵臟 glucokinase 및 hexokinase活性에 미치는 影響에 關한 硏究

        Glucokinase와 hexokinase는 간과 췌장에서 인슐린에 의해 혈당이용을 증대시키며 혈당농도를 감지하여 인슐린 분비를 조절하는 효소로서 인슐린비의존성당뇨병(NIDDM)의 병인과 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 또한, alloxan은 glucokinase의 활성부위에 존재하는 -SH기와 경쟁적으로 결합하여 효소활성을 저해함으로서 당뇨병을 유도한다. 본 연구에서는 당뇨병치료의 전통한방약재로서 사용되고 있는 五倍子추출물의 효과를 해명하기 위하여 alloxan유발 실험적 당뇨마우스의 glucokinase와 hexokinase의 활성을 검토한 겨과, alloxan주사에 의해 체중과 공복시의 glucose 및 insulin 분비가 증가되었으나, 五倍子투여로 공복시의 insulin분비가 감소하였으며 체중과 공복시의 혈당은 유의성은 없었으나 대조군에 비하여 감소하였다. 그러나, 혈당수치가 정상군에 비하여 현저하게 증가되었으나 五倍子투여로 현저히 감소하였으며 Insulin치의 상승과 분비지연도 五倍子투여군에서는 정상군과 유사한 경향을 보였다. 한편, 혈중glucokinase와 hexokinase의 활성은 alloxan주사에 의해 현저히 감소되었으나, 五倍子 투여로 유의성 있게 상승되었다. 이상의 결과로, 五倍子는 alloxan으로 유발된 실험적 당뇨병에서 포도당인 산화 효소인 glucokinase와 hexokinase의 활성을 증가시키는 것으로 나타나 당뇨병의 치료에 임상적인 효과가 있음을 시사하였다. The in vivo effect of an aquous extract from Rhois Galla (R-G) on glucokinase and hexokinase activities has been examined in mice having diabetes mellitus induced by alloxan, which specifically bind to -SH group of the enzymes and inhibits the enzyme activities. After 1 week of alloxan injection, the levels of serum glucose and insulin secretion were dramatically increase, however, the insulin secretion was decreased with administration of R-G in alloxan-treated mice. Alloxan injection allowed the serum glucose level increased and the level was decreased by R-G administration. Furthermore, it has been observed that R-G was effective in recovering the levels of insulin secretion in the alloxan-treated diabetic mice. Enzyme activities of the glucokinase and hexokinase were decreased by alloxan treatment. In contrast, R-G administration to the mice allowed proportional increasing. These results strongly suggested that R-G is highly effective in treatment of diabetes mellitus induced by alloxan.

      • 한국 동남해안에 서식하는 십각류의 종류상과 분포상

        A faunistic and zoogeographical study on decapod crustaceans was carried out on the basis of materials collected from nine localities in south-eastern coast (from Changgi-got cape, Pohang to Haeundae, Pusan) of Korea during the period from 1988 to 1999. A total of 128 species of 88 genera in 30 families belonging to three suborders were listed, of which 105 species to Cheju Island and 55 species to Yello Sea, respectively. By calculating the similarity coefficient using Jaccard's coefficient from the comparison of species constitution among four distributional regions of Korean waters, we get the highest value between South Sea and Cheju Island. The species constitution from the south-eastern coast and the similarity coefficient between Korean waters suggested that this area would be pertained to both South Sea and East Sea in zoogeographical respect, and the limit between the two seas is confirmed to be Ulgi, Ulsan.

        鹿脛骨이 卵巢摘出로 誘發된 흰쥐의 骨多孔症에 미치는 影響

        The purpose of this study is to examine what are the effects of the Deer Tibia on the postmenopausal osteoporosis. In order to observe the effects of the Deer Tibia on the osteoporosis induced from ovariectomy, administered the Deer Tibia in p.o to the ovariectomized Rats, and measured the variance of weight related to osteoporosis, the variance of osteocalcin, calcium, ALP, phosphorus, GOT and GPT in serum, the variance of creatinine, calcium to creatinine rate in urine and urinary volume, the variance of the organs in weight and the variance of the bones. The results of the experiment are as follows: 1. The level of serum ALP, S-GOT and S-GPT in Deer Tibia group was showed a significant decrease in comparison with control group. The level of serum osteocalcine, calcium, phosphorus in Deer Tibia group was showed no efficiency in comparison with control group. 2. The level of urinary volume in Deer Tibia group was showed a significant increase in comparison with control group, and calcium to creatnine ratio in Deer Tibia group showed a significant increase. 3. The weight of tibia ash and the length of femur in Deer Tibia group showed no significant change. The bone density in Deer Tibia group showed a significant increased in comparison with control group. 4. Body weight in Deer Tibia group was increased in comparison with control group, but showed no efficiency. The weight of heart, liver, spleen, kidney and uterus in Deer Tibia group showed no significant change in comparison with control group. According to the above results, effects of the Deer Tibia on the aged ovariectomized rat model showed a efficiency in elevation of bone density by increasing bone mass and in prevention of renal function failure by ovariectomy. So Deer Tibia can be used for prevention and curing of the postmenopausal osteoporosis, as for it's effects, continuous clinical study is needed.

      • 三和散이 家兎 腎臟機能에 미치는 影響

        In order to examine that the effect of Sam Hwa San, circulating the vital energy of Sam Cho and controlling body fluid metabolism, gives any influence on renal function, changes in the urine flow. eletrolytes excretion, plasma aldosterone concentration and renin activity were observed after intravenous infusion of the Sam Hwa San extract in rabbit. Also in vitro enect of the herb extract on oxygen consumption in rental cortical slices and ATPase activity in kidney microsomese was measured. The following results were obtained: 1. The urine flow was markedly increased at 10 min after intravenous infusion of the Sam Hwa San extract(0.134 ±0.015 vs. 0.043±0.046 ml/min.kg), but return ed to normal value after 40 min of infusion. 2. The glomerular filtration rate was significantly increased at 10 min after in travenous infusion of the Sam Hwa San extract, following return to normal value. 3. Na+ excretion was significantly increased during 10-40 min after intravenous infusion of the Sam Hwa San extract, although showed the maximal rate at 10-20 min. The fractional Na+ excretion was also increased during 10-40 min. K+ excretion was rapidly increased at 10 min after the intravenous Infusion of the Sam Hwa San extract and then gradually decreased to normal level at 40 min. The fractional K+ excretion was significantly increased during 10-40 min after the intravenous infusion of the Sam Hwa San extract. 4. The plasma aldosterone concentration and renin activity were altered by the infusion of the Sam Hwa San extract. 5. The ouabain-sensitive oxygen consumption of renal cortical slices was signify cantly reduced by the Sam Hwa San extract(0.5 and 1.0 vol.%). 6. The Na-K-ATPase activity of renal microsomes was strongly inhibited by the Sam Hwa San extract(0.5 and 1.0 vol.%). These results suggest that the Sam Hwa San causes a strong diuretic effect which results from reduction of Na reabsorption in renal tubule by a direct inhibition of Na-pump and, in part, from am increase in renal blood flow. In clinic, it is considered to obtain the therapeutic effect in body fluid metabolism disharmony to cause the circular disorder of vital energy.

      • 해남지역 하천에서의 비점오염원에 관한 연구

        It is so difficult to know about the course of non-point source that only few people studying. This is the reason why we did not get good result in water-treatment frequently. Point and non-point source study must be balanced. This report have this intention. Summer is rain season in Korea so we have many problem in water quality. Bad quality originated from agricultural field, non-point source, that flow nutrients, agricultural chemicals, weed chemicals and etc. In this report provide the basic data of non-point source study on river of Haenam Area. Three point that we research is near Bok-pyoung, Kil-ho and Eo-seong bridge at 1999. 7. 5 ∼ 7. 12. Resulted: BOD, COD, SS, T-N, NH₃-N, NO₃-N, T-P, PO₄-P, Alkalinity decrease afterraining, dilution, much amount of water quantity made it. Agricultural section that major non-point source effluent high waste concentration at first stage, but dilution made lower at last. so it is needed that non-point source water storage for improve first stage wastewater at the lower part of a river. And continuous study about non-point source outbreak reason by waste effluent quantity data that made water quality and quantity research after division of the land useness near the river is needed, too.
