Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) commonly arise from the pleura and are mostly benign. However, they may develop anywhere in the body, and 10%–30% are malignant. Classically, SFTs appear as solitary enhancing masses, and bilateral presentation is extremely rare. In this case, an 88-year-old male presented with back pain and a history of chronic tuberculous empyema. Imaging studies revealed bilateral paravertebral masses with aggressive radiologic features, which were speculatively presumed as thoracic malignancies in association with chronic empyema. Herein, we report a unique case of bilateral paravertebral malignant SFTs that were accurately diagnosed with a CT-guided coaxial needle biopsy.

Objective: The aim of this research was to investigate the effects of functional electrical stimulation (FES) applied to the gluteus medius (Gm) and tibialis anterior (TA) during stair climbing in persons with stroke compared to FES applied to the TA only during stair climbing, and during stair climbing without FES in persons with stroke. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Twenty subjects with stroke participated in this study. Subjects were included if: 1) they were diagnosed as stroke at least 6 months before; 2) had Mini Mental State Examination- Korean score of 24 or higher; 3) were able to climb a flight of 10 stairs independently (with or without walking aid). The patients walked 10 stairs 3 times with FES applied to the Gm and TA, only TA, or no FES. There was a 1-minute rest period between each bout. The assessments were made using the Timed Up & Down Test and the Wii Balance Board. Results: Stair climbing with FES applied to the Gm and TA was significantly faster than stair climbing with FES applied to the TA only and without FES (p<0.05). Stair climbing with FES applied to the Gm and TA exhibited significantly greater sway velocity than stair climbing without FES (p<0.05). However, maximal sway distances were not significantly different between groups. Conclusions: Stair climbing with FES applied to the Gm and TA can be an important component of a rehabilitation program for improving stair climbing ability in persons with stroke.
An Efficient Localization Method using RFID Tag Floor Localization and Dead Reckoning

A method for using radio-frequency identification tag floor based localization (RFTL) for indoor mobile robot localization is proposed. This method does not suffer from illumination or line of sight impairment issue, and it is less affected by the environment than is conventional localization. However, it faces an inherent limitation, in terms of its low accuracy. To overcome this problem, an efficient localization method using RFTL and dead reckoning is presented. To utilize this method, it is important to find a model of map for the tag recognition probabilities. With this in mind, this paper proposes two model structures: a deterministic ellipse model, and a two variable Gaussian random variable (RV) model. The results of experiments to verify and compare the performances of these two model structure methods are presented.

The purpose of this study was to examine a hierarchical model of consumer innovativeness in the context of 3D fashion products. In particular, this study explored how different traits, such as personal values and innate innovativeness, predict a positive attitude towards 3D fashion products through domain-specific variables such as fashion innovativeness and fashion leadership. Using a convenience sample (n = 250), the data were collected through a self-administrated online survey. The results of this study identified personal values as an antecedent of innate innovativeness and found that fashion leadership played a critical mediating role between innate innovativeness and domain-specific innovativeness, in turn developing a positive attitude towards 3D fashion products which led to intention to use. Although the effect of innate innovativeness on domain-specific innovativeness (i.e., fashion innovativeness) was partially supported and no direct effects of personal values on domain-specific innovativeness was found, findings of this study contribute to existing literature on the Technology Acceptance Model and Consumer Innovativeness by examining additional predictors. The significant mediating role of fashion leadership was valuable as the result supported the key role of innovators as opinion leaders as discussed in the previous literature.
