Objective: This study was performed to examine the relationship between community-based social support and psychosocial distress in workers. Methods: The study subjects were 596 workers recruited from 11 companies in Chungju city. A structured questionnaire was used to assess sociodemographics, health-related behaviors, job characteristics, job stress, work-based social support, community-based social support and level of psychosocial distress. Results: Hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that workers with no chronic disease, exercise and sufficient sleep had a higher score of psychosocial distress than those with chronic disease, no exercise, and not enough sleep. Coworker's work-based social support and community-based social support were negatively associated with psychosocial distress. The R square value of total independent variables on psychosocial distress was 0.409, and that of community-based social support on psychosocial distress was 0.052. Conclusion: This study showed that community-based social support served as a protective factor against psychosocial distress in some workers. We recommend the establishment of a worksite stress reduction program in occupational level as well as community-based social support.

Yes associated protein (YAP) and transcriptional co-activator with a PDZ-binding motif (TAZ) are both found in the cytoplasm as well as the nucleus, where they regulate gene transcriptions. YAP/TAZ nuclear localization is a crucial dterminant of their function. Phosphorylation by protein kinases is another major factor responsible for the YAP/TAZ subcellular localization, resulting in retention of YAP/TAZ in the cytoplasm. However, it is still nuclear as to how YAP is transported into toe nucleus. Using site directed mutagenesis and confocal microscopic analysis, we demonstrated in this study that the motif(lqmekerlrlkqqellrqamrninpstanspkcqelalrsqlpt)inYAP plays a role as the putative PY-NLS to which Karyopherin β2 (Kapβ2) bind to facilitate its nuclear localization. Thus, our observations have provided new clues to understand YAP regulating in Hippo signal transduction pathway by Kapβ2 binding.

Brominated flame retardants(BFRs) have been widely used as additive or reactive chemical in polymers and textiles. An analytical methods for polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in textile samples using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and thermal desorption (TD)-GC/MS were described. Decabromodiphenyl ether (deca-BDE) in textiles was extracted using ultrasonification method with n-hexane/ methylene chloride (1:1, v/v) for GC/MS analysis. For purification, the absorbent of silica was applied to retain the impurities. Analysis of deca-BDE with TD-GC/MS, which is not required for extraction and clean up. In the monitoring of deca-BDE in textiles, TDGC/MS using the pyrolysis system which can be confirmed in the presence of deca-BDE in textiles is effective. This method have the advantage of rapid, simplicity, economy and small amount of sample, while conventional GC/MS method is needed a lot of time and high amount of solvent. However, the determination of low concentration of deca-BDE in textiles by GC/MS analysis is appropriate.

We developed analytical methods for textiles treated by brominated flame retardants (BFRs). Toxicity analysis of total hazardous inorganic substances was determined and quantified on three kinds of interior materials in car which was used from ten years ago and three kinds of interior foam in car and three kinds of curtains were treated flame retardants recently. Samples were analyzed for seven hazardous inorganic elements (chromium, cobalt, nickel, copper, cadmium, antimony and lead) by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). In the extractable heavy metals of samples, Cr, Cu, Ni and Sb were found in all of the samples. While Co and Pb were detected only in one and two samples. The content of extractable heavy metals in the samples was compared with the criteria of the 100 OKO TEX Standard. It was confirmed that the level of heavy metals in the samples posed no serious risk to health, based on the human-ecological criteria defined by the 100 OKO TEX Standard.
