As many researchers have been interested in the repair and reinforcement of structure, recently, the importances of those are increasing. In this papers, it was inspected to applicate repair and reinforcement by strand and polymer mortar to the construction field among many method. A static loading test and a dynamic loading test was tested in the field. In result, deflection of reinforced structure decreased between 14 and 30 % and load carrying capacity increased 22%.
Design Method of a Circularly-Polarized Antenna Using Fabry-Pérot Cavity Structure
Jeongho Ju,김동호,Wangjoo Lee,Jaeick Choi 한국전자통신연구원 2011 ETRI Journal Vol.33 No.2
A Fabry-Pérot cavity (FPC) antenna producing both high-gain and circularly-polarized (CP) behavior is proposed. To increase antenna gain and obtain CP characteristics, a superstrate composed of square patches with a pair of truncated corners is placed above the linearly polarized patch antenna with an approximately half-wavelength distance from the ground plane at the operating frequency. The proposed antenna has the advantages of high gain, a simple design, and an excellent boresight axial ratio over the operating frequency bandwidth. Moreover, used in an FPC antenna, the proposed superstrate converts a linear polarization produced by a patch antenna into a circular polarization. In addition, the cavity antenna produces left-hand circular-polarization and right-hand circular-polarization when a patch antenna inside the cavity generates x-direction and y-direction polarization, respectively. The measured and simulated results verify the performance of the antenna.

Angelica gigas is a medicinal plant that exclusively has grown in Asia. It is divided into three species according to its geographical origin, and is known to have various physiological effects such as anti-cancer and anti-amnesia. In this study, we performed in vitro Griess assays to investigate regulatory function on nitric oxide (NO) production by treatment of Angelica gigas extracts (ANE) in Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells or mock cells, and further proceed DPPH Antioxidant assay in order to evaluate the anti-oxidant effect of ANE. As a result, excessively produced NO by stimulation of LPS, was reduced in a dose-dependent manner when RAW264.7 cells were treated with ANE, which indicating anti-inflammatory effect. Whereas, in mock cells not to be treated with LPS, NO concentration increased by the ANE treatment, resulting in immuno-enhancement effect. In addition, ANE has anti-oxidant capacity through outstanding DPPH radical scavenging activity. In conclusion, our results suggest that ANE might have potential as a functional ingredient for mediating immune responses via regulatory function of NO production and exerting anti-oxidant activity.
A Review on Intelligent Compaction Techniques in Railroad Construction
Jeongho Oh 한국철도학회 2014 International Journal of Railway Vol.7 No.3
The purpose of this paper was to review Intelligent Compaction (IC) techniques, which is regarded relatively new to the railroad roadbed construction activity. Most of civil structures are built on roadbed that supposed to provide adequate load bearing support to the upper structure through the qualified compaction process. However, it is not uncommon for structure failure attributed to inadequate compaction control take place in field sites. Unlike traditional compaction control method to check field density at several locations, IC techniques continuously measure various compaction quality indices that represent compaction uniformity. In this paper, a series of literature review relevant to IC techniques was conducted to provide concise summary on the following categories: 1) background of IC technique; 2) Summary of IC vendors and basic principles; 3) modeling of IC behavior, and 4) case study along with correlation between IC with other measurements. In summary, IC technologies seem to be promising in future railroad construction to achieve better compaction quality control so that the serviceability of railroad can be ensured with minimizing rehabilitation and maintenance activities.
