        The present paper is an introduction to the whole project of "The systematic studies on Korean Betulaceae". Three studies under the project were performed this year and presented in this report : a review of taxonomic literatures and the construction of distribution maps by Woo-Tchul Lee, pollen morphology by Sang-Tae Lee and Moo-Yeol Kim, and wood anatomy by Woong-Young Soh and Kwan-Bae Jeon.

      • 木蓮(Magnolia kobushi Mayr)의 低溫發熱에 關한 硏究

        In order to investigate the cold hardness of Magnolia kobushi Mayr, high temperature exotherm (HTE) and low temperature exotherm (LTE) were measured at twig, leaf bud and flower bud. At the twig xylem HTE was -9℃ and LTE -34℃; in the leaf bud HTE -6℃ and LET -46℃; and in the flower bud HTE -5.6℃ and LTE -52℃. Thus Magnolia kobushi Mayr was proved to be highly cold-resistent. It was supposed that the lower LTE at the buds than that at the twig xylem owed to the low water content as well as the well developed bud scales.

        골격성 Ⅲ급 부정교합 환자에서 하악골상행지 시상분할골절절단술후 상순과 하순의 연조직 변화에 관한 연구

        Purpose : The prediction of profile change as a result of orthognathic surgery remains a problem during preoperative planning because of the difference relative movements of the hard and soft tissues. This study was performed to predict the changes o( upper and lower lips after BSSRO with non-rigid fixation Material and Methods : 15 patients wish skeletal Class III malocclusion treated by bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy(BSSRO) and mandibular setback were selected for analysis. Cephalometric data of presurgery and postsurgery 12 months were used. Wilcoxon signed rank test, calculation of Spearmans correlation rho and simple regression analysis were performed to predict the relations between hard tissue changes and soft tissue changes. Results : The horizontal change of hard tissue Pogonion and those of lower lips showed high correlation and the ratios were from 71% to 84%. The horizontal change of hard tissue Pogonion and those of chin showed high correlation and the ratios were from 90% to 92%. The horizontal change of hard tissue Pogonion and those of upper lips showed moderate correlation and the ratios were from 7% to 18%. Conclusion : This study suggests that the changes of lower lips are highly affected by the hard tissue change of mandible and those of upper lips are moderately affected. In comparison with other studies, no significant differences were found among the fixation methods.

      • 유도 선수들의 대학선택 결정 요인 분석

        The purpose of this study is to investigate how elite judokas have their own point of views for selecting their universities and is also to analyze coach's decision-making factors for selecting elite judokas, For the study, we give questionnaires to 176 judokas (male: 121; female 55) who were in promoted judo teams located in seoul and kyunggi-do. The results of this study were as followed: First, Decision-making factors for choosing universities by elite judokas include external factors such as recommendation in the others, the given benevolence of athletes, exercise or training facilities, university's faculty, recognition, location, and also include internal factors such as future courses, self-hopes, self-capacities, Second, Considering primary factors for selecting universities in judokas include recommendation from their own coaches and parents, and exercise or training facilities, university's recognition and future courses, colleagues, self-hopes. Third, for selecting universities by gender, there is no significantly difference between male and female judokas. Fourth, for selecting universities by grade. Fifth, according to district area, there is no significantly difference between seoul and kyunggi-do district.

        경안면 괴사성 근막염 : 증례보고

        Necrotizing fasciitis is defined as infectious disease showing extensive necrosis of the superficial fascia with widespread involvement of the surrounding tissues and concurrent systemic toxicity. It is found commonly in the extremities, the trunk and the perineum, but shows extremely rare occurrence in the well vascularized area such as head and neck area. Occurred in the head and neck area, it is called "cervicofacial necrotizing fasciitis" (CFNF). It is a fatal disease which carries a mortality rate up to 60%. Early diagnosis, aggressive surgical debridement of necrotic tissues and massive antibiotics therapy are essential for achieving a favorable outcome. We present a case of cervicofacial necrotizing fasciitis in 35-year-old male patient with literature review.

      • 남자 단거리 선수의 등속성 근력측정법에 따른 슬신전근의 속도곡선 및 최대파워분석

        In recent years, the knee extensor forces of athletes have usually been evaluated by measuring isokinetic output torque. The purpose of this study was to confirm the usefulness of nonmalizing the torque(force)-velocity curve and calculating the maximal power of knee extensor under isokinetic contraction. Seventy two(46 elite, 26 non-elite) Japanese male sprinters were chosen as the subjects in this study. The peak torque of the dominant side of knee extensor was measured by using the isokinetic dynamometer (Cybex Ⅱ+) in three different angular velocities of 60, 180, 300deg/sec. Moreover, the isometric torque (0deg/sec) was measured in 39 athletes, 120 and 240deg/sec of contraction were performed in 12 out of 39 athletes. The exponent equation (F=F0×eav-kv: Fenn 1935) was applied to normalize the torque-velocity curve without including the coefficient of viscosity(k). The maximal power and its optimal velocity was presumed from this torque-velocity curve. The average of measured torque at 0 deg/sec contraction(F0) was lower than that of 60 deg/sec, therefore F0 was presumed as the same as the maximal power. Those parameters were not significantly different when calculated from 3 velocities (60, 180, 300 deg/sec) and 5 velocities (plus 210, 240 deg/sec) in 12 athletes. For this reason, each parameter was calculated from 3 velocities. The maximal torque (F0/BW) was the same between elite and non-elite group (40Nm/㎏). Nevertheless, the coefficient of torque loss(a), maximal power and its optimal velocity were significantly different (-0.1594 : -0.1911, 9.6 : 7.8watt/㎏, 373 : 309 deg/sec, respectively. P<.01 Student-t). It was said that to normalize the torque-velocity curve or to presume the maximal knee extension power and its optimal velocity were useful to assess the muscle function or the performance of athletes under isokinetic contraction.

        1. As the children become of an age, it is expected that it is the chief reason of the diet problems that the development of the physical standard is good, in order of the nursery school children, home children and joint lodging children. Therefore in order that we increase the national power by means of the development of physical standard of all the people, and we keep higher health, it is desired that the authorities concerned or the managers of nursery schools must pay attention to dietary lives of the nursery school children. 2. Though the personal experditure is put in a little more, as a policy of decreasing the young boys and girls' criminal genesis rate, and of clearing up their frustration, it is requested urgently that the recreation facilities of the nursery school must completely be equipped and the teachers of the nursery school must be increased. 3. In our families the parents of each family will have to improve their children's dietary lives with nutritious foods no less than the sports middle school principal or the manager of nursery school. On the other hand, it is required, for references, that we must reexamine the menu of joint boarding students so as to be more good one. To conclude, exceptiong the joint boarding students, in order to improve the children in our families, especially the nursery school children's health, and physical standard, to plan the increasing of the national power, to prevent juvenile crime, and to construct a bright welfare society, first of all it is expected that we must achieve, it is source, increasing of the gross national income urgently.

      • 최대운동 후 스포츠마사지 처치시간에 따른 회복기 혈중 젖산 및 암모니아 농도의 변화

        The purpose of this study was to investigate blood lactate and ammonia concentration by sports massage treatment time after maximal exercise. Six male students of physical education department in K university were selected as th object of study. The 30 minutes' massage recovery group, the 15 minutes' massage recovery group, the static recovery group and the dynamic recovery group after maximal exercise were measured repeatedly to get results on the change of blood lactate and ammonia concentration by sports massage. The result of this study were as follows: 1. The change of the blood lactate concentration after maximal exercise runs as follows: The 30 minutes' massage recovery group by sports massage gets rid of the blood lactate concentration fastest. 2. The change of the blood ammonia concentration runs as follow: The 30 minutes' massage recovery group, the 15 minutes' massage recovery group, and the dynamic recovery group get rid of the blood concentration faster than the static recovery group. There's no change of the blood ammonia concentration in the 30 minutes' massage recovery group.

      • 자작나무科의 導管形態에 依한 分類

        To determine the degrees of specialization and intergeneric relationship within the Korean Betulaceae a comparative anatomy was performed with 3-4 year-old parts of growth rings of the stem wood from a total of 18 species and 7 varieties of the family. Some specialized anatomical characters suggests the family to be more or less advanced. Tribe Betuleae possessing scalariform perforation plates exclusively, steeper angle of end wall and alternate pittings, was thought to be more primitive than tribe Coryleae. Among the Betuleae, Alnus exhibited to be more primitive than Betula on the bases of the number of bars on the perforation plate, the angle of end wall and the pitting pattern. Among the coryleae, it was thought that Corylus having a scalariform perforation plate exclusively, and a intermediate number of bars was the most primitive, whereas both Carpinus and Ostrya having simple perforation plates and homogeneous I ray were the most advanced.

        The decay rate of sound in large reverberation room depends on air humidity and temperature. This phenomenon is one of the important part to reverberation time of architectural acoustics. In this paper, the measurement of the reverberation time was carried out according to temperature and humidity in order to obtain the effect of atmospheric sound absorption.
