Numerical modeling and simulation technique in time-domain for multibeam echo sounder
Donghwan Jung,Jeasoo Kim,Gihoon Byun 대한조선학회 2018 International Journal of Naval Architecture and Oc Vol.10 No.2
A Multibeam Echo Sounder (MBES) is commonly used for rapid seafloor mapping. We herein present a time-domain integrated system simulation technique for MBES development. The Modeling and Simulation (M&S) modules consist of four parts: sensor array signal transmission, propagation and backscattering modeling in the ocean environment, beamforming of the received signals, and image processing. Also, the simulation employs a ray-theory-based algorithm to correct the reconstructed bathymetry, which has errors due to the refraction caused by the vertical sound velocity profile. The developed M&S technique enables design parameter verification and system parameter optimization for MBES. The framework of this technique can also be potentially used to characterize the seabed properties. Finally, typical seafloor images are presented and discussed.

Analysis Design Guidelines for Development of Height Adjustable Washbasin
( Hyoung In Choi ),( Jeasoo Hong ) 한국감성과학회 2014 춘계학술대회 Vol.2014 No.-
The objective of this paper is to formulate dimensional design guidelines for a height-adjustable washbasin by using ergonomic analysis. Washbasins are essential for maintaining personal hygiene. The convenience offered by washbasins varies according to the user`s physical dimensions. Therefore, design guidelines that can satisfy various physical sizes are required. This paper analyzes the literature, industrial standards, statistical data of the human physical body, and existing products to establish the guidelines. In summary, adjustable height and width ranges for height-adjustable washbasins were proposed by statistically determined human body sizes. This paper`s findings are expected to be used to develop height-adjustable washbasins as well as various other bathroom products and products for physically challenged people.

This study presents usability test results for height-adjustable washbasins for the disabled and non-disabled. Usually, previous researches of washbasin height have depended on survey method. Systems that provide quantitative data on usability have been recently developed. Along with two surveys, electromyogram (EMG) analysis using EMG sensors and joint moment analysis using a three-dimensional motion capture system were used for the washbasin usability evaluation. The height of the subject’s center of gravity was set as the standard height of the washbasin in this study. The height evaluation of the washbasin was divided into five stages according to the height of the subject’s center of gravity. A total of six heights were set for possible evaluation with an additional height selected by each subject. Statistical evaluation was done using survey data and body signal data. We were also able to confirm that there was a difference in usability according to the ratio of the washbasin height to the height of the subject’s center of gravity. This paper proposes a method and adjustment range for washbasin height that may be used in future product development for both the disabled and the non-disabled.

This paper presents a result of the usability test about height adjustable washbasin for the non-disabled and disabled. Survey method was main trend in the existing studies about height of washbasin. But survey method data is qualitative data. Recently, experiments to get quantitative data in these cases by EMG and 3D Motion Capture System. Usability test was performed two types evaluations. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations were evaluated by six steps of height of wash basin. Quantitative evaluation consists of EMG and Joint moment data. And qualitative evaluation consists of survey2 times. We have analyzed qualitative and quantitative data complementary and confirmed that each heights of washbasin make a difference of usability. This paper proposes a method and height range of adjustable of wash basin, it can be applies other product development for all people with disability or non-disability.

Target detection by acoustic barrier method includes active and passive sonar technique and time reversal process whose theoretical background is already well defined. In this paper, the concept and theory of underwater detection by passive ocean time reversal is established. Also, the reason that this study was conducted was to investigate feasibility of complex mathematical modeling to provide some predictive capability for underwater acoustic barrier with passive time reversal. It may eventually lead to a useful predictive tool when designing underwater acoustic barrier detection system using the passive time reversal concept.
