In this paper the real life operation of ULCS (Ultra Large Container Ships) is presented from the point ofview of shipmasters. The paper provides interpretation of results of questionnaire filled by masters of large containerships during Tools for Ultra Large Container Ships (TULC) EUI FP7 project. This is done in a way that results ofquestionnaire are further reviewed and commented by experienced master of ULCS. Following phenomena are subjectof questionnaire and further discussed in the paper: parametric rolling, slamming, whipping, springing, green waterand rogue waves. Special attention is given to the definition of rough sea states as well as to measures that ship masterstake to avoid them as well as to the manoeuvring in heavy seas. The role of the wave forecast and weather routingsoftware is also discussed.

The aromatic herb Melissa officinalisL. can be used as an easily accessible source of natural antioxidants andas a possible food supplement and as a phytochemical. Radical scavenging, antibacterial, and antiproliferative activities of pe-troleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water extracts of M. officinalis L. extracts were investigated. The re-sults of antioxidative activity, obtained by electron spin resonance spectroscopy, confirmed that investigated extracts sup-pressed the formation of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), hydroxyl, and lipid peroxyl radicals in all investigated systemsin a dose-dependent manner. The maximum DPPH and hydroxyl radical scavenging activities (SADPPH. SAOH . 100%)were achieved in the presence of n-butanol extract at concentrations of 0.4 mg/mL and 0.5 mg/mL, respectively. The highestlipid peroxyl scavenging activity (93.20%) was observed at a higher concentration (5 mg/mL) ofn-butanol extract in the lipidperoxidation system. The most effective antibacterial activities were expressed by petroleum ether and ethyl acetate extractson Sarcina lutea. Chloroform extract showed the strongest antiproliferative effect with 50% inhibitory concentration valuesof 0.09 mg/mL and 0.10 mg/mL for HeLa and MCF-7 cell lines, respectively. The present study demonstrated the high phe-nolic content and radical scavenging, antibacterial, and antiproliferative activities of extracts of M. officinalisL. originatingfrom Serbia.

Mass migrations of Slovaks from the north of Hungary to the south (to the Lowland) in the 18th and 19th centuries are part of the migration of serfs as part of the systematic colonization of Empress Maria Theresa after the expulsion of the Turks from this territory. Coexistence with other nations or old settlers, as well as state politics, naturally influenced further development and determined the life of immigrants in national, cultural, economic, social, as well as linguistic terms. The aim of this paper is to present the linguistic situation of the Slovaks in the settlement of Kysáč in today's Serbia based on church documents from their immigration to the end of the First World War. We examined the chronicle of the Kysáč priest František Jesenský from 1773, registers from the years 1787 – 1918, the minutes of the canonical visitation of the Kysáč church choir from 1835, the minutes of the school board of the Kysáč school from the years 1895 – 1915, the minutes of the presbytery conventions 1912 – 1916 and other documents of the church archive of the Slovak Evangelical Church a. c. in Kysáč.

Bioretention systems are globally the most accepted Low Impact Development (LID) practices. In this study, we simulated bioretention performances for four locations in the city of Novi Sad, with RECARGA modelling software. The primary objective of the research was to evaluate potential of bioretention systems for runoff reduction. The second research objective was to suggest RECARGA model as a support for future decision-making processes. Analysis of the sensitivity of bioretention design parameters on bioretention performances, involved variations related to different sizes of bioretention systems, application of an underdrain, the difference in soil texture and changes in the depth of each individual bioretention layer. The total average volume of retained runoff by bioretention systems ranged from 43.33 to 93.84%, while some single simulation results were 100%. Among all tested design parameters, bioretention size and the native soil hydraulic conductivity have shown the greatest influence on the runoff reduction rate. This study provides information about the developing a site-specific bioretention solutions needed to prevent urban flooding in the area of research where this systems are still not sufficiently applied in practice. The obtained methodology can be applied for other locations and also it can be extended to other cities with similar urban flooding problems.

In this study we investigated antioxidative and antiproliferative activity of different horsetail (Equisetum arvense L.) extracts. The antioxidative activity was measured by the electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy–spin trapping method. The influence of different horsetail extracts during lipid peroxidation of (1) sunflower oil induced by the lipophilic azo-initiator 4,4'-azobis(4-cyanovaleric acid) and (2) soybean phosphatidylcholine liposomes induced by the hydrophilic azo-initiator 2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride was studied. Antiproliferative activity was measured using the sulforhodamine B colorimetric assay on the human cancer cell lines HeLa, HT-29, and MCF7. The results of ESR analysis confirmed that the extracts investigated suppressed the formation of lipid peroxyl radicals in both systems investigated in a dose-dependent manner. The results indicate that n-butanol, methanol, ethyl acetate, and water extracts had significant peroxyl radical scavenging activity. Extracts inhibited cell growth that was dependent on cell line, type of extract, and extract concentration. Ethyl acetate extract exhibited the most prominent antiproliferative effect, without inducing any cell growth stimulation on human tumor cell lines. The results obtained suggest that the horsetail extracts could be used as an easily accessible source of natural antioxidants and as potential phytochemicals.
Subcortical Volume Changes in Migraine with Aura
Igor Petrusic,Marko Dakovic,Jasna Zidverc-Trajkovic 대한신경과학회 2019 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.15 No.4
Background and Purpose Various features of the cerebral cortex and white matter have been extensively investigated in migraine with aura (MwA), but the morphological characteristics of subcortical structures have been largely neglected. Te aim of this study was to identify possible differences in subcortical structures between MwA patients and healthy subjects (HS), and also to determine the correlations between the characteristics of migraine aura and the volumes of subcortical structures. Methods Tirty-two MwA patients and 32 HS matched by sex and age were analyzed in this study. Regional subcortical brain volumes were automatically calculated using the FSL/FMRIB Image Registration and Segmentation Tool sofware (https://fsl.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/fsl/fslwiki/Glossary). A general linear model analysis was used to investigate diferences in the volume of subcortical structures between the MwA patients and HS. A partial correlation test was used to assess correlations between the volume of subcortical structures and characteristics of MwA. Results Te volumes of the right globus pallidus, lef globus pallidus, and lef putamen were signifcantly smaller in MwA patients than in HS (mean±SD): 1,427±135 mm 3 vs. 1,557± 136 mm 3 (p<0.001), 1,436±126 mm 3 vs. 1,550±139 mm 3 (p=0.001), and 4,235±437 mm 3 vs. 4,522±412 mm 3 (p=0.006), respectively. Tere were no signifcant relationships between subcortical structures and clinical parameters. Conclusions Tese fndings suggest that both the globus pallidi and lef putamen play signifcant roles in the pathophysiology of the MwA. Future studies should determine the cause-and-effect relationships, since these could not be discriminated in this study due to its cross-sectional design.
