      • The Grapes of Wrath에 관한 小考 : 「聖書的 警喩」를 中心으로 Centered on the Biblical Analogy

        The Grapes of Wrath is Steinback's masterpiece depicting the Joad family's epic journey in a wornout "jalopy" from their dust-bowl farms in Oklahoma to the fruit-filled valleys of California. When the book appeared in 1939 it attracted wide critical acclaim and won the Pulitzer Prize but it also generated a storm of protest. In the United States Congress Lyle Boren of Oklahoma called it 'a lie, a black, infernal creation of a twisted, distorted mind', and whilst some libraries burned copies of it. Some critics attached Steinbeck for propagating Communist ideas in the books. However, the books enduring success suggests that its achievement extends beyond this. This book not only deals with the particular issues centered on the migrant people in Califonia but in a more general way it depicts man's ancient search for the promised land, and examines the fight for life, the instinct of the living organism for survival, and the aspirations of people who must re-define their lives. The structure of this novel is somewhat different from others. Of the thirty chapters in the book. Only fourteen deal with the Joads and the remaining sixteen chapters, called 'interchapters' amplify the story of the Joads, providing generalized statements on the social, economic and historical context of the predicament of the Okies and of the Joads in particular. Steinbeck often used religious motifs to universalize his work. The Eden theme and the Cain and Abel story are predominant in East of Eden. The Grapes of Wrath relies on a combination of Old and New Testament symbols for its emotional impact. And herewith I have laid my emphasis on finding uses of Christian symbols in this novel. I would like to conclude my argument with presenting an episode. Perhaps it is the most striking parallel to Exodus in his novel. It occurs near the end of this book. When Tom killed the vigilante who struck Casy down and left the region when it looked as if he would be found out, he acted as Moses had done. For "when Moses was grown" he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew laborer, and he killed the Egyptian and hid his body in the sand… In the Pentateuch this happened in Egypt before the Exodus; in The Grapes of Wrath it happened in California after the migration.

        우리나라 교육과정 연구 개발의 방향

        The purpose of this study was to describe the research and development of Korean curriculum, based upon the practical paradigm, with regard to the quality aspect of educational experience. The contents of curriculum are composed of practical experience in the general setting. Based upon this premise, this study consisted of two parts. In the first section of the study, the development of Individuality and creativity in children is emphasized. Much more, the opportunity of selection in curriculum contents and the process-based-education are to be implemented. In the second part, the democratic sense of community is highly valued and educating children through activities and community experience is emphasized.

        초ㆍ중등학교 특기ㆍ적성 교육 활동의 운영 실태 및 개선 방향

        특기?적성 교육 활동은 학생의 소질과 적성 계발 및 취미와 특기 신장을 위하여 설정된 활동이다. 이 활동은 교육 개혁의 사교육비 경감 방안의 하나로 제안되고 현재 전국 대부분의 초?중등 학교에서 시행되고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 특기?적성 교육 활동이 초?중등학교에서 어떻게 실시되고 있는가를 분석하고, 그 개선방향을 모색하는데 목적을 두었다. 본 연구의 결과를 보면 특기?적성 교육 활동에 대해서 그 필요성을 인정하나 실제 초?중등학교에서의 운영에서는 많은 문제가 나타나고 있으며, 효과에 대해서도 교사들은 부분적인 견해를 보였다. 특기?적성 교육 활동이 현장 학교에서 잘 이루어지기 위해서는 먼저 시설과 기?교재 등의 교육 여건을 구비하는 일이 필요하고, 교사의 업무부담 경감과 학생의 자유시간 확보가 선행되어야 한다는 결론을 내릴 수 있다. 특히 교육개혁안이 현장 학교에서 성공적으로 적용되기 위해서는 교육의 특성을 기반으로 해야 하며, 대?내외적인 요인의 파악과 대응, 결과에 대한 긍정적?부정적 영향 등이 충분하게 고려되어야만 한다. 'Talent and aptitude education' is an activity which focuses upon the development of different talents, merits, interests, etc. of different students. It also aims at diminishing educational cost for private lessons by incorporating a wide range of educational activities into schools. The purpose of this study is to analyze the reality of current talent and aptitude education, and to make suggestions for its enhancement. The study shows that administering (time scheduling, instruction, evaluation, etc.) of talent and aptitude education is problematic, however agreeable its ultimate goal may be. In real practice, teachers express their skepticism about its positive effects, especially considering that they have to cope with formidable barriers such as their overloaded school works, deficient facilities, materials, and equipments, and so forth. Therefore, the study concludes that we should be more prudent; we have to take as many relevant factors as possible into consideration, and to restructure them if necessary, in order for talent and aptitude education as a part of educational reform to be successfully implemented.

      • 유치원과 국민학교 교육과정의 연계 방안 모색

        This study attempts to search for some ideas and strategies for the improvement of conjunctive 'relations between kindergarten and elementary school curricula, especially in first and second grades. For this. this study considers the relations between the two from four different dimensions. First, we can think of conjunctive plans between the two in terms of school characteristics. In this field, it is important to stress for young children to have good peer relations and good moral conducts. These characteristics can be learned through play and direct experience. Second, We can try to improve the conjunctive relation between the two in the way of curriculum organization and development. This study suggests that the curriculum from K to six can be divided into four groups : (1) kindergarten consisted of 'honest-life', 'inquiry-life', and 'pleasant-life,' (2) low(l and 2) grade consisted of language, mathematics, 'wise-life' and 'pleasant-life,' (3) middle(3 and 4) grade consisted of seven subjects as Korean language, mathematics, social studies, science, physical education, music, and fine arts. (4) high(5 and 6) grade consisted of nine subjects adding morales and practical course on the middle grade subjects. Third, category is the field of curriculum implementation. Six ideas are suggested here. They are : (1) curriculum implementation strategies based on classroom situation, (2) teaching method based on children's direct activities and experiences. (3) managing classroom hours flexibly in accordance with seasons, children's needs, and contents etc., (4) effective use of school facilities and materials, (5) grouping the students in various size the traits of subjects, (6) using various methods of evaluation including quantitative and qualitative ways. The last dimension is concerned with the supportive system for curriculum management. In this dimension, we have to reconsider the teacher education system and programs for a more close relation between kindergarten and elementary school. It is suggested that pre-service teacher education program must be divided into two different programs : one for low grade teachers in including kindergarten teachers, and the other one for high grade teachers.

        Cimetropium bromide, a quaternary ammonium compound which is chemically related to scopolamine, exhibits its antispasmodic activity by competing with acetylcholine for the muscarinic receptors of the smooth muscle of gastrointestinal tract. The drug has been used for the treatment of various disorders involving spasms of the musculature of the gastrointestinal, biliary and genitourinary tracts. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two cimetropium bromide tablets, Algiron™ (Boehringer Ingelheim Korea Ltd.) and Alpit™ (Hana Phamaceutical Co., Ltd.), according to the prior and revised guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KDFA). The cimetropium bromide release from two cimetropium bromide tablets in vitro was tested using KP Ⅶ Apparatus Ⅱ method with various different kinds of dissolution media (pH 1.2, 4.0, 6.8 buffer solution and water). Twenty normal male volunteers, 25.25 ± 2.10 years in age and 65.76 ± 6.39 ㎏ in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized 2×2 cross-over study was employed. After three tablets containing 50 ㎎ of cimetropium bromide per tablet were orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time and the concentrations of cimetropium bromide in serum were determined using HPLC method with UV detector. The dissolution profiles of two cimetropium bromide tablets were very similar at all dissolution media. Besides, the pharmacokinetic parameters such as AUC_t, C_max and T_max were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using non-transformed and logarithmically transformed AUC_t and C_max. The results showed that the differences in AUC_t, C_max and T_max between two tablets based on the Algiron™ were 2.19%, -5.97% and 3.49%, respectively. Minimum differences (Δ) at α=0.05 and 1-β=0.8 were less than 20% (e.g., 13.71%, 19.05% and 15.11% for AUC_t, C_max and T_max, respectively). The powers (1-β) at α=0.05, Δ=0.2 for AUC_t, C_max and T_max were 97.79%, 83.22% and 95.60%, respectively. The 90% confidence intervals were within ±20% (e.g., -5.84∼10.21, -17.11∼5.18 and -5.35∼12.33 for AUC_t, C_max and T_max, respectively). There were no sequence effect between two tablets in logarithmically tanformed AUC_t, C_max. The 90% confidence intervals using logarithmically transformed data were within the acceptance range of log(0.8) to log(1.25) (e.g., 0.94∼1.10 and 0.85∼1.05 for AUC_t, C_max, respectively). Two parameters met the criteria of prior and revised KFDA guideline for bioequivalence, indicating that Alpit™ tablet is bioequivalent to Algiron™ tablet.

        S-2 (3-aminopropylamino)ethylphosphorothioic acid (WR-2721)가 방사선에 조사된 흰쥐의 효소 활성에 미치는 영향

        S-2 (3-aminopropylamino)ethylphosphorothioic acid (WR-2721)이 방사선에 대한 방어효과에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 Sprague-Dawley계 웅성 흰쥐를 대조군, WR-2721 단독투여군 (200㎎/㎏), X-선 단독조사군, WR-2721투여 (200㎎/㎏)후 X-선 조사한 병용군으로 나누어 X-선 8 Gy선량을 전신조사한 후 1,3,7,10일 간에 각각 혈액을 채취하여 효소활성치와 glucose함량 변화를 측정하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. X-선 단독조사군에서는 ALP와 AST의 활성치가 대조군에 비하여 감소하였으나 WR-2721 을 병용한 군에서는 그 감소폭이 줄어들었고, ALT와 LDH의 활성치는 X-선 단독조사군에서 대조군에 비하여 증가하였고, WR-2721을 병용한 군에서는 그 증가폭이 감소되었다. 또한 glucose치의 변동은 X-선 단독조사군에서 대조군에 비하여 유의성 있게 증가하였으나 WR-2721을 병용한 군에서는 그 증가폭이 감소되었다. 이로 미루어 보아 WR-2721이 X-선으로부터 생체내 주요 장기들을 보호하는 작용이 있음을 시사하고 있다. Male rats of Albino strain were divided into four groups, control group, X-irradiated group, WR-2721 treatment group and X-irradiated group treated with WR-2721. The radioprotective effect of treatment with S-2 (3-aminopropylamino)ethylphosphorothioic acid (WR-2721) in the dose of 200㎎/㎏ by intraperitonial injection on rats 20min prior to wholebody X-irradiation (8Gy) was studied. Each group determined serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities and contents of serum glucose after 1, 3, 7 and 10 days. The ALP and AST activities of X-irradiated group were significantly decreased (p<0.05) compared with that of control group, but X-irradated group treated with WR-2721 less decreased those enzyme activities compared with the X-irradiated group. X-irradiated group was significantly increased (p<0.05) ALT and LDH activities compared with that of control group, but X-irradated group treated with WR-2721 less increased those enzyme activities compared with the X-irradiated group. The concentration of serum glucose of X-irradiated group was signficantly increased (p<0.05) compared with that of control group, but X-irradated group treated with WR-2721 less increased compared with that of X-irradiated group. It may be considered that WR-2721 provided radioprotective effect of organs of body from X-irradiation.
