A Novel Spectral Analysis of Ultrashort Pulse Transmission Using the Pulse-Ordering Concept

In this paper, we analyze transmission characteristics of ultrashort laser pulses using the properties of high-order pulses which are systematically obtained following their orders. The high-order pulses are easily derived from a modified PRS system model. But we make clear they are very useful to cover wider area and to show more accurate transmission characteristics of ultrashort pulses than Gaussian or Sech pulse approximations used conventionally. These are based on the fact that the spectra and bandwidths of the high-order pulses are geautifully related to their orders. First modifying the generalized PRS system model, we propose a new model for deriving any type of high-order pulse. And we offer a novel analysis method of ultrashort pulse transmission varying the order of the pulse from n=1 to n=100, we obtain spectra of ultrashort pulses with 1(ps)∼150(fs) FWHM's, which are widely used in optical pulse communications. One-step further, we derive PSD's of their pulse-tr ins when they are applied to Unipolar signaling scheme. These PSD's are decided in the range of possible pulse intervals. All of these results are not only coincided with some conventional experimental works but will be applied to any pioneering ultrashort pulse in the future.
김종철 초기 시의 가톨릭 세계관에 대한 일고찰-「죽음의 둔주곡」과 「떠도는 섬」을 중심으로-

김종철 시인은 1968년 『한국일보』 신춘문예에 「재봉」이, 1970년 『서울신문』 신춘문예에 「바다 변주곡」이 각각 당선되어 시단에 등장했으며, 2014년 지병으로 작고하기까지 46년 동안 시작 활동을 했다. 그는 생전에 간행한 모두 7권의 시집과 유고시집 『절두산 부활의 집』 등 8권의 단독 시집, 형인 김종해 시인과 함께 간행한 형제시인 시집 『어머니, 우리 어머니』, 시선집 『못과 삶과 꿈』, 『못 박는 사람』 등을 상재한 바 있다. 베트남전쟁에 참전했던 김종철 시인은 첫 시집『서울의 유서』의 대표작 「죽음의 둔주곡」을 모두 9곡 205행의 작품으로 완성하였다. 이 시는 대위법 형식의 악곡인 둔주곡에 맞춰 각 곡과 곡에 죽음과 죽음의 이미지를 연쇄적으로 제시하고, 그 이미지들을 서로 겹치고 중첩시키면서 비극성을 강화하고 비장미를 심화시키는 방향으로 전개된다. 또 두 번째 시집『오이도』의 대표작 가운데 하나인 「떠도는 섬」도 11개로 구분된 단편 서정시들이 모두 181행에 이르는 시행을 포함하는 작품이다. 이 시는 전반적인 내용과 그 분량 면에서 두 번째 시집을 대표할 뿐만 아니라, 특별히 ‘오이도’ 연작 7편을 개관하는 의욕적인 작품이다. 본고에서는 김종철의 초기 시를 대표하는 「죽음의 둔주곡」과 「떠도는 섬」을 중심으로 그의 세계가 가톨릭의 바탕 위에 성립되었다는 점을 확인하고, 그것은 믿음의 윤리화이자 윤리의 신앙화라고 할 수 있음을 살펴보았다. 김종철에게 가톨릭 세계관은 무엇보다 ‘계시의 믿음’ 자체이지만, 그것의 작품화인 「죽음의 둔주곡」과 「떠도는 섬」은 믿음의 실천이자 믿음의 윤리화였다. Poet Kim Jong-chul received the ‘Hankook ilbo Spring Literary Award’ with ‘Jaebong(sewing)’ in 1968 and ‘Seoul Newspaper Spring Literary Award’ with ‘Sea Variations’ in 1970 and so began his literary career. Before his death as a chronic disease in 2014, he had done the poetical works for 46 years. In his lifetime, he published the seven collections of poetry, eight poems including the posthumous collection, “The House of Revival of Jeoldusan”, a sibling collection of poems along with his elder brother Kim Jong-hae “Mother, Our Mother” and a collection of poems “Nails and Life and Dreams” and “The Man Who hammer Nails.” Poet Kim Jong-chul who participated in the Vietnam War completed ‘The Fugue of Death’ which was the representative work of the first collection of poems “The Will of the Seoul” with nine songs and 205 lines. This work was unfolded to present a series of images of death and death to each song and song in line with fugue, a musical piece in the form of a counterpoint, and to strengthen tragedy and deepen the tragic beauty by overlapping and duplicating the images. And ‘The Floating Island’, one of the representative works of the second collection of poems “The Oido(Oi Island)” was a masterpiece that includes a total of 181 verses of short lyric poems of 11 features. From the perspective of the overall content and quantity, this work not only represented the second collection of poems, but it was also a highly motivated work that overviewed seven series of “Oido”. In this paper, through the analysis of Kim Jong-chul’s early major poems, ‘The Fugue of Death’ and ‘The Floating Island’, it confirmed that his world was established on a Catholic basis, it regarded an ethicalization of faith and a religious belief in ethics. Although the Catholic world view is for Kim Jong-chul the ‘belief in revelation’ itself, to made it into a work of art, ‘The Fugue of Death’ and ‘The Floating Island’ were the practice of faith and the ethnicise of faith.
Management Plans of Livestock Excretions from Field Scrutiny in Yeongsan Stream Basin

A field scrutiny related to livestock excretions in Yeongsan stream basin was performed in this study. This result was used to verify the accuracy of nationwide survey result (formal document) for pollution sources by comparing them, and a management plan of livestock excretions was also suggested based on their comparison in this study. The major differences between them were 17.7% in the number of stock farms, 39.6% in the population of milk cows and 41.6% in the treatment method of pig excretions. The biggest difference to the pig case, which is currently the most problem in livestock excretions treatment, could be because of the cause that most of the farmlands, including orchard grove, used as individual treatment site for excretions played role as a dump site to reduce the cost for consignment treatment. Meanwhile, the 67% of compost heaps was illegally left alone in field without the rain shelter and could flow in the stream if it is raining.

The high dv∕dt transient speed of wide-bandgap (WBG) semiconductor switches can generate common-mode current of considerable magnitude, which can distort the gating signals. An isolated power supply is required for gate-driver circuits to prevent the faulty operation of the switches. However, an isolation capacitance of several pF between the gate-driver circuit and the main control circuit induces a common-mode current, which is suffi ciently large to distort the switching signals. In this study, an isolated power supply with a high dv∕dt immunity, ultra-compact size, and high insulation voltage is developed using inductive power transfer (IPT) coils. A parameter design method for a series–parallel compensated IPT system that can achieve a load-independent output voltage is presented. In addition, a novel design for I-core coils is proposed using fi nite element analysis results. An isolation capacitance of 1.6 pF between the primary and secondary coils was achieved over a 4 mm air gap. The dimensions of the IPT coils were 38 × 22 × 15 m m3 . The measured coil-to-coil and DC-to-DC effi ciencies at an output power of 12 W were 95% and 87%, respectively.
Live Acquisition of Internal Fingerprint With Automated Detection of Subsurface Layers Using OCT

<P>Recently, optical coherence tomography (OCT) was introduced as a novel fingerprint scanning technique. This approach is resistant to fake fingerprint attacks, and is robust against poor fingertip conditions, i.e., wet or stained fingers. The method proceeds by scanning a fingertip in three dimensions and capturing a fingerprint from the subsurface layer. Although OCT has the potential to be widely used as a new standard in fingerprint scanning, it is hindered by its low scanning speed and the lack of computing power available for reproducing raw OCT data into images in real time; for instance, this process can take minutes to obtain barely one fingerprint image. In this letter, we introduce a novel spectral-domain OCT-based 3-D fingerprint scanner that is capable of obtaining an internal fingerprint image within 2 s. In order to obtain internal fingerprint images from raw OCT data in real time, we used graphics processing unit for massive parallel computation, along with an automated method for extracting the internal fingerprint from a 3-D scan of a fingertip. In addition, the robustness of the OCT fingerprint scanner was established by comparing fingerprint images-of wet, stained, and damaged fingertips-that were obtained by the OCT system with those from a commercially available optical fingerprint scanner.</P>
