Reversal effects of Kampo medicine on pathogenesis of diabetes

Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine. 110-116, 1999.-purpose Traditional medicine has defined an exhausted condition with polyuria due to over-drinking, over-eating. And as "shoukatsu<消渴>"(emaciation-thirst) from the ancient times. It is considered that "shou-katsu" would obviously correspond to diabetes mellitus in modern medicine. We have attempted bridge building by the common understanding of the pathogenesis of diabetes in Kampo medicine and modern medicine. Material and Method We have selected six formulae, Mao-to(痲黃湯), Shimbu-to(眞武湯), Ninjin-to(人蔘湯), Shigyaku-san (四逆散), Keishi-to(桂枝湯)and Shimotsu-to(四物湯), which contain relatively fewer kinds of crude drugs. We consider these formulae to be the basis of various herbal combinations. We administered these six formulae to three different types of experimental mice affected by type ` diabetes. 1)BALB/C diabetic mice with destruction of pancreatic islet inducedby single high doses of streptozotocin(STZ); 2) C57BL/Ks mice with T cell mediated autoimmune diabetes induced by single low doses of STZ(MLDSTZ); 3)NOD/Shi spontaneously diabetic mice. In addition, we clinically Investigated outpatients with type 2 diabetes who received the combination therapy of Kampo medicines. Results and Discussion. The Ninjin-to(人蔘湯) could reverse the decrease of weight in MLDSTZ induced diabetes mice, improve their general status, and significantly inhibit the development of diabetes. But we observed lymphatic infiltration of the pancreatic islets in both the control group and the Ninjin-to treated group. We found great changes in the Ninjin-to reated group when we analyzed the functions of the lymphocytes in detail. The Ninjin-to treatment could reduce the increase of INF□-producing cells, measurement of the expression of INFγand IL-4 in the CD4 cells stimulated by anti-CD3/CD28. Type 1 diabetes causes an augment in the Th¹ helper function, and the Ninjin-to may control the balance of Th¹and Th²by suppressing of Th1 function. We found that the incidence of diabetes could be prevented in NOD mice by the administration of the Ninjin-to for 24 weeks. We also observed a significant improvement in glucose tolerance and the regression of insulitis. It has not yet been reported that a preventive drug for diabetes has been developed in Western medicine. Anti-heat shock protein(HSP) antibodies are produced before the expression of advanced glycation endproduct(AGE) in human type 1 diabetes. The values of anti-HSP antibodies have been increased in untreated NOD mice, according to the progression of diabetes. However, the expression of anti-HSP antibodies was significantly decreased in the group of mice treated by the Ninjin-to, We also observed artherosclerosis in the main arteries when normal mice immunized by bacterial HSP took the lipid loading diet, It is suggested that anti-HSP protein antibodies may be expressed both in diabetes and in artheroslerosis. Anti-HSP antibodies were frequently found in the serum of patients with diabetes. The administration of Hachimi-jio-gan(八味地黃丸)for two weeks could reduce this expression of anti-HSP antibodies. The destroyed islet cells in STZ-induced diabetic mice were observed to be regenerated in an extremely short time after the administration of Mao-to(麻黃湯)to these mice. In addition, Zokumei-to(統命湯), which has the combined formulae of Ninjin-to and Mao-to could significantly decrease HbA1c in the patient with diabetes. Conclusion We found that simple Kampo formulae such as Ninjin-to or Mao-to may have potent preventive effects against diabetes and artherosclerosis, and may restore thepancreatic islets. Advanced research in Kampo medicnes may show novel ways for the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus.

It also makes structural analysis to find out the structural validity of the optimum shape of high-pressure injection nozzle. It divides to two areas such as plunger area and high-pressure injection nozzle area including plunger.

In the early decades of this century, Charisma which originally means endowment with the gift of grace, has been introduced to social sciences by German sociologist, Max Weber. It quickly became interested in the field of sociology and politics. But, into the 1970s, charismatic leadership still had not became a subject for empirical or experimental research related to organizational theory. Recently, much attention has been paid to charismatic leadership as the prototype of leadership that people have in mind when they describe their ideal leader and is more likely to provide a role model with which subordinates want to identify. As a result, in will perform further study related to Charisma leadership which developing various kind of measurement and instrument. Finally, it should identify lost of possibility and phenomenon through the study of charisma leadership.

오늘날 정보통신 환경은 디지털 융합(Digital Convergence)으로 대표되는 유?무선 및 음성?데이터 통합, 방송?통신?인터넷이 하나로 융합되어질 전망이다. 이러한 정보통신 환경변화에 따라 VoIP, 인터넷방송, e-Learning, VOD, Multicast, T-Gov, M-Gov, IPv6, 위성 DMB 등 다양한 형태의 차세대 신규 정보통신서비스가 출현하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 정보통신 환경의 변화에 따라 제공 가능한 차세대 신규 정보통신서비스를 정의하였다. 그리고 정의된 서비스를 무선랜과 무선인터넷, VoIP, DMB, e-Learning, M-Gov, IPv6, 텔레매틱스 등 7개영역으로 구분하여 그에 대한 개념과 해외 차세대 신규 정보통신 서비스의 구축 및 응용 사례를 조사하였다. 또한 해외 사례를 기반으로 국내의 공공부문 즉, 행정 분야, 의료 및 복지 분야, 재난관리 분야, 교통정보 분야에 적용 가능한 새로운 서비스를 제안하였다.
Methylphosphonicdifluoride의 가수분해 및 가수분해 생성물로부터 HF의 회수 연구

Methylphosphonicdifluoride(DF)의 최적 가수분해 조건을 찾기 위하여 염기성 및 중성 수용액에서 가수분해하고 가수분해 생성물로부터 F 화합물을 분리, 회수하였다. DF는 NaOH 수용액의 농도 6 mole, [OH]/[DF]의 비율 4 이상에서 5분 내에 80%가 분해된 반면, 중성 수용액에서는 H₂O/DF의 부피 비 1.5 이상에서 93-97%의 분해율을 보였다. 가수분해 후 생성물중의 HF를 분리하기 위하여 수산화칼슘을 사용하였으나 생성입자의 크기가 매우 작고 겔 상태로 존재하여 HF의 완전분리가 곤란하였다. 반면, 중성 수용액에서 가수분해한 DF의 생성물은 MPA, HF 및 미량의 methylphosphonofluoridic acid(MF)가 존재하였다. MPA는 휘발성이 없는 흡습성 고체이고 HF는 물과 공비점을 형성 하므로 물을 주기적으로 반응기에 공급하면서 반복 증류하여 HF를 용이하게 분리 할 수 있었다. 가수분해 생성물을 증류 한 결과 최대 99.7%의 F 이온을 분리하였으며 증류 후 회수된 불산의 최종 농도는 20% 이었다. The hydrolysis of methylphosphonicdifluoride(DF) both in NaOH solutions and neutral waters was studied to find optimum reaction conditions. Separation of F ions from the reaction products was also conducted. The destruction efficiency of DF in NaOH solutions was above 80% in five minutes at the mole ratio of [OH]/[DF]3-6, while the efficiency of 93-97% was obtained in water when the volume ratio of the H₂O/MPD was above 1.5. Ca(OH)₂ was added to to remove HF in the product solutions after DF hydrolysis in alkaline solutions but it was not easy to remove due to coagulation of the products. On the other hand, HF was easily separated by repeated distilation adding water periodically to the reactor from the reaction products of DF hydrolysis in water, 99.7% of the total fluoride ions were removed from the products by repeated distillation. The final concentration of HF solution recovered was 20wt%.

There are two kinds of data transmission communication method, namely, Analog communication method and Digital communication method. The latter has many excellent characteristics as compared with the former. In order to design excellent Digital Filter, the window function is studied in this paper. The conventional time-domain windowing requires N/2 stored values of the data window and N multiplications. A class of windows, called binary windows, for the frequency-domain implementation of the Discrete Fourier Transform is proposed. They do not require multiplications or stored constants ; rather, they are replaced by shift and add operations. These windows offer excellent sidelobe behavior compared with the conventional windows.

This study is object to structural analysis of high pressure injection nozzle. The finite element model was developed to compute the stress, strain for high pressure injection nozzle. For structural analysis using result from FEM code. This structural analysis results, many variables such as internal pressure, boundary condition, constraint condition and load condition are considered.
