THE HOMOLOGY REGARDING TO E-EXACT SEQUENCES

Ismael Akray,Amin Mahamad Zebari Korean Mathematical Society 2023 대한수학회논문집 Vol.38 No.1

Let R be a commutative ring with identity. Let R be an integral domain and M a torsion-free R-module. We investigate the relation between the notion of e-exactness, recently introduced by Akray and Zebari [1], and generalized the concept of homology, and establish a relation between e-exact sequences and homology of modules. We modify some applications of e-exact sequences in homology and reprove some results of homology with e-exact sequences such as horseshoe lemma, long exact sequences, connecting homomorphisms and etc. Next, we generalize two special drived functor T or and Ext, and study some properties of them.

        Ismael Hamounpeima,Mahmoud Hosseini,Reza Mohebbati,Mohammad Naser Shafei 대한약침학회 2019 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.22 No.3

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Ribes khorasanicum (R. khorasanicum); a plant growing in north Khorasan of Iran; on cardiovascular and stress oxidative in acute hypertension induced by N-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), anitric oxide synthase inhibitor. Methods: Rats were divided into Control, L-NAME (10 mg/kg), Sodium Nitroprusside (SNP) (50 mg/kg) + L-NAME and three treated groups with R. khorasanicum (4, 12 and 24 mg/kg) groups + L-NAME. L-NAME and SNP were injected intravenously and extract intraperitoneal. In R. khorasanicum groups, L-NAME was injected 30 min after injection of the extract. Systolic blood pressure (SBP), mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were recorded continuously using power lab software. At the end of study oxidative stress parameters including of total thiol content (SH), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in heart and aorta of all groups were also measured. Results: In groups 4 and 24 mg/kg extract +L-NAME, there was a non-significant decrease in SBP and MAP compared to L-NAME group but dose 12 mg/kg significantly attenuate the effect of L-NAME(P < 0.05). In L-NAME group the heart and aorta tissues antioxidant enzymes levels decreased, while in treated rats these enzymes significantly increased. Conclusion: The extract of R. khorasanicum in dose 12 mg/kg show anti-hypertensive effect that is mediated by an effect on NO system or antioxidant parameters.

Modeling of a Four-Quadrant Switched Reluctance Motor Drive on EMTDC/PSCAD

        Ismael El-Samahy,Mostafa I. Marei,Ehab F. El-Saadany 대한전기학회 2008 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.3 No.1

This paper introduces a complete package for SRM drive on Power System Computer-Aided Design / Electromagnetic Transients (PSCAD/EMTDC). A three-phase SRM drive is modeled and simulated on PSCAD. The motor is modeled using an accurate nonlinear analytical model that takes into consideration the machine nonlinearities. A current control algorithm is applied for torque ripple minimization to achieve a smooth output torque which is necessary for high performance applications. The motor drive is tested for four-quadrant operations. The modeled SRM is capable of operating as a motor or generator during clockwise and counterclockwise motions. The proposed package helps in understanding the operational principles of switched reluctance motors, investigating the dynamic characteristics of SRM drives, and achieving a high performance dynamic control task.

IPA and its precursors differently modulate the proliferation, differentiation, and integrity of intestinal epithelial cells

        Ismael Shámila,Rodrigues Catarina,Santos Gilberto Maia,Castela Inês,Barreiros-Mota Inês,Almeida Maria João,Calhau Conceição,Faria Ana,Araújo João Ricardo 한국영양학회 2023 Nutrition Research and Practice Vol.17 No.4

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Indole-3-propionic acid (IPA) is a tr yptophan-derived microbial metabolite that has been associated with protective effects against inflammator y and metabolic diseases. However, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the effects of IPA under physiological conditions and at the intestinal level. MATERIALS/METHODS: Human intestinal epithelial Caco-2 cells were treated for 2, 24, and/ or 72 h with IPA or its precursors – indole, tr yptophan, and propionate – at 1, 10, 100, 250, or 500 μM to assess cell viability, integrity, differentiation, and proliferation. RESULTS: IPA induced cell proliferation and this effect was associated with a higher expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 2 (ERK2) and a lower expression of c-Jun. Although indole and propionate also induced cell proliferation, this involved ERK2 and c-Jun independent mechanisms. On the other hand, both tr yptophan and propionate increased cell integrity and reduced the expression of claudin-1, whereas propionate decreased cell differentiation. CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, these findings suggested that IPA and its precursors distinctly contribute to the proliferation, differentiation, and barrier function properties of human intestinal epithelial cells. Moreover, the pro-proliferative effect of IPA in intestinal epithelial cells was not explained by its precursors and is rather related to its whole chemical structure. Maintaining IPA at physiological levels, e.g., through IPA-producing commensal bacteria, may be important to preser ve the integrity of the intestinal barrier and play an integral role in maintaining metabolic homeostasis.

Power system spatial analysis and visualization using geographic information system (GIS)

Ismael Abdulrahman,Ghadir Radman 대한공간정보학회 2020 Spatial Information Research Vol.28 No.1

Power system conditions need to be monitored continuously to detect and control any abnormal condition in the system. Geographic information system (GIS) is considered an essential part of situational awareness that is recommended by the blackout-2003 report for power system reliability. In this paper, the potential of using GIS for power system spatial analysis is investigated using ArcGIS software. Several digital maps and networks are created from excel sheets using the synthetic test systems including Tennessee, Texas, and the entire synthetic network of the US test system. Inverse density weight technique, slope analysis, and contour lines are employed for the situational analysis. The study includes both steady-state and dynamic analysis, and the systems are simulated using a MATLABbased package developed for the work in this paper. The obtained numerical results are converted to geo database for more spatial analysis, and several videos are created. The study demonstrates the capability of GIS for analyzing and visualizing the system geographically and in multilayer, multi-view, and dynamic display.

A program for cost estimation of forest road construction using engineer’s method

        Ismael Ghajar,Akbar Najafi,Amir Mohsen Karimimajd,Kevin Boston,Seyed Ali Torabi 한국산림과학회 2013 Forest Science And Technology Vol.9 No.3

Modeling the cost of road construction is a prerequisite for evaluation and planning of different alternatives for low-volume road networks included in a forest management plan. In this paper, a model for cost estimation of forest roads is presented, based on the standard engineering properties of cross sections and the location-specific parameters of terrain slope and vegetation information. The model assumes six main cost elements of clearing operations, embankment, pavement, grading, culverts and ditch for total construction cost calculation. To validate the performance, the outputs of the model were compared with the experts’ prediction for an existing forest road project in a mountain condition. The final result of the research showed that the model could estimate total cost of road construction in an accuracy range of 6.5%. The results of the validation process showed a 66.51% underestimate for clearing operation, 3.56% underestimate for embankment, 3.85% underestimate for surfacing, 3.32% underestimate for culverts, 20.54% underestimate for ditch excavation, and 22.33% overestimate for grading of the cut slope and travel way. According to the reasonable estimation for total cost, the model could be applied as an evaluation function in finding the optimized layout of a forest road network.

Functionalization of 3D printed ABS filters with MOF for toxic gas removal

        Ismael Pellejero,Fernando Almazán,Marta Lafuente,Miguel A. Urbiztondo,Martin Drobek,Mikhael Bechelany,Anne Julbe,Luis M. Gandía 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.89 No.-

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) is one of the most extensively used polymer in 3D printingmanufacturing due to its competitive thermal and mechanical properties. Recently, a special attentionhas been devoted to novel ABS composites featuring extra functionalities e.g. in the area of VOC removal. Herein, we report on a facile protocol for the functionalization of 3D printed ABSfilters with a MOF(Metal-Organic Framework) material (ZIF-8) targeting the conception of attractive gasfilters. Theproposed synthesis strategy consists in low temperature ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) of ZnO on theABS grid followed by the hydrothermal conversion of ZnO to ZIF-8, both steps being conducted at 60 C. Insuch way, the method enables an effective growth of ZIF-8 without altering the stability of the polymericABS support. The as-fabricated ABS/ZIF-8filters offer a promising adsorption behaviour for dimethylmethylphosphonate ( 20.4 mg of DMMP per gram of ZIF-8), thus proving their potential for toxic gascapture applications.
