        In the history of Korean modern literature and art, new Korean cultural traditions could have been formed land developed under foreign influences. In order to make modern Korean literary history more systematic it is necessary to research the comparative approaches of Korean literature with European literature which influenced Korean literature covertly and overtly. In particular, among the western countries the developed countries literatures-England, German, France, America and so forth-had absolute influence on Korean literature. For instance, in the case of Korean new drama, Korean drama began to receive the western dramas in the course of decaying Korean classical Chang-plays by forces of Japanese New-school plays. The study of Korean acceptance of the western drama is to investigate the history of modern drama and to examine its quality and quantity. Meanwhile, because it is important to determine how Shakespeare, who contributed much to the development of drama world-wide, influenced Korea and how Shakespearean drama played a fundamental role in Korean dramas, they, too, were surveyed. In particular, because Shakespeare has had wide influence on Korean liberal education, literature and Korean dramaturgy as well as the world of Korean works, it is very remarkable to survey the concrete flow, and accentance process and influential relations. This is a study investigating the background of the Korean modern spirit. Strictly speaking, the history of modern Korean literature and art is not yet well enough arranged. Especially, these studies are not sufficient in the view of comparative literary approaches. There is a book written by Kim Byungcheol-'A study on the history of Korean modern translated literature'-but it is said that me merely arranged those materials into his book. Therefore, in the present situation it is urgent to have more concre te and profund studies in terms of important authors and countries. This dissertation intends to materially systemize the history of accepting Shakespeare from the point of view of comparative literary approaches. This dissertation adapts comparative approaches and actual proof approaches of Korean drama and drama world-wide synchronically. The reason is that it is necessary to the historical approaches as this study is to establish the history of modern Korean drama, and further the history of modern Korean literary art. Owing to the lack of existing studies in this field, it is essential to arrange the related materials in detail and to adapt the actual proof approaches of it. This study aims primarily to arrange the history of accepting Shakespeare in the above mentioned respects with explication. Furthermore, this is an attempt to look for how Shakespeare has influenced and improved the development of modern Korean drama and also how be has been influential in determining what direction Korean drama would take. Ultimately this dissertation is to contribute to the establishment of the history of Korean drama. It was just the age of englightenment and the sprouting periods in new civilization when William Shakespeare, the English dramatist, was introduced into korea for the first time. At that time, with a name that looked so strange to the korean people, Shakespeare seemed to be not a person as dramatist, but the greatest man that ever lived among the great names of history. Therefore, even his works were introduced only partially, not as a whole. Owing to these reasons, it became known for the first time after the 1919 samil Independence Movement by korean students studying in Tokyo that Shakespeare was a famo is dramatist of England. That is all very well, but, just after the Samil Movement the whole aspect of Shakespeare did not throw any light uopn Korean people. Korean students studying in Japan, who read several works of shakespeare's were interested in him and a few young literary enthusiasts versed in Chinese classics began to introduce him little by little Korea. Such a way of introducing Shakespeare has continued until it became a turniug point in modern Korean history at the time of the 1945 Liberation of Korea. For this neason, Shakespeare was quite alien to Korean people and only several of his plays were introduced with difficulty. In iact, if Shakespeare were on intimate terms with the people, it could be possible through the stage in the theatre. By the time when korean Liberation came, there was no theatrical company to digest and perform the plays of Shakespeare. This is why Shakespeare didn't take root deeply in Korea. But, after the Korean war of 1950~1953, the state of affairs was changed in a hurry. The korean war offered an oppertunity to accept European culture into Korea at first hand, and with the sudden development of colleges, Shakespeare, who can't be expelled from the western culture, came to this land without compulsion. Shakespeare became a compulsory subject in the university curriculum and professors belonging to the department of English literature had to write theses about Shakespeare. Furthermore, theatrical companies ususlly performed Shakespeare's plays regarding those abilities as the moment of making their substance stronger with the feeling for their sense of duty. Finally, they thought that a good theatrical company was able to perform Shakespeare's plays for the sake of winning publio recognition. From the starting point of the Korean war, so much like this, the situation was changed for the better so far as Shakespeare at least was concerned. For instance, as to studying Shakespeare, since the days of Choe Jae-seo, the Shakespearean of the 1950s, lots of theses were given every year, and all the works of Shakespeare had been translated by the scholars who majored in English literature. It is said that Shakespeare's works are on the list of good books, so most of the educated people should read them as required. So, to many Shakesqeare is very well known and closely related with Korean people.

        이스라엘잉어 장관 수축에 관여하는 약물수용체에 관한 연구

        In order to elucidate the characterization of receptors involved in inestinal motility of Israeli carp, spontaneously contracting Israeli carp intestinal preperations were prepared and mounted in the organ chambers for contraction traicings using a polygraph. Various contractile agonists were treated and their dose-response curves were constructed. $EC_{50}$ values$(pD_2)$ of each agonist on specific receptors, $pA_2$ values of competitive antagonists against some agonists, and $K_1$, values of noncompetitive antagonists against some agonists were analyzed for characterization of receptors related with the intestinal contraction. Results obtained through the experiments were summarized as follows: 1. Acetylcholine(ACh) exhibited biphasic dose-response curves: initial ACh-induced dose dependent contractions were observed in pM levels but followed by decreased response in in-between concentration levels. Dose dependent contractions reappeared in ${\mu}M$ level. The peaks in pM and ${\mu}M$ levels appeared in $10^{-13}M$ and $3{\times}10^{-5}M$, respectvely. 2. Carbachol(CaCh) exhibited dose dependent contractions from $10^{-9}M$ to $10^{-5}M$, and its $pD_2$ values were higher than those of ACh($5.60{\pm}0.11$). ACh and CaCh exhibited equiactive contractions. Nicotine had no effects on contractile responses of Israeli carp intestine. 3. ACh-induced responses were inhibited by atropine($K_1:7{\times}10^{-8}M$), a muscarinic antagonist, in a non-competitive manner. But CaCh-induced responses were inhibited by both antimuscarinic atropine($pA_2:9.52{\pm}0.14$) and selective $M_2$ antagonistic 4-DAMP($pA_2:8.16{\pm}0.09$), in competitive manners. Nicotine receptor antagonistic decamethonium and hexamethonium had no effects on ACh-and CaCh-induced contractions. Therefore, the cholinergic receptor related to intestinal motility of Israeli carp was assumed as $M_2$ type. 4. In Israeli carp intestine, 5-HT (serotonin) exhibited dose dependent contractions in concentration range from $10^{-8}M$ to $10^{-5}M$. The maximal responses, however, were corresponded to about 50% of those of ACh or CaCh. 5-HT induced contractions were inhibited by $5-HT_2$ antagonistic ketanserin ($K_1: 7.8{\times}10^{-4}M$) in a non-competitive manner, but not by both of anti $5-HT_1$, spiperone and anti $5-HT_3$, MDL-72222. Hence, $5-HT_2$ receptors are suggested to be existed in Isreli carp intestine.

      • 제주도의 주요 습지에 도래하는 도요·물떼새류의 현황

        본 연구는 제주도 주요 습지에 도래하는 도요ㆍ물떼새류의 지소적인 연구의 일환으로, 1998년 3월부터 2000년 2월까지 2년간 매월 2회씩, 1) 동부지역(하도리 양어장, 종달리 해안 및 성산포 양어장)과, 2)서부지역(용수리 저수지, 금등리 해안 및 대정읍 일과리 해안)으로 나누어 조사하였다. 조사기간 중 2개 지역에서 관찰된 도요ㆍ물떼새류는 총 45종 5,117개체였으며, 지역별로는 동부지역에서 40종 4,910개체, 서부지역에서 38종 927개체로 나타났다. 계절별로는 봄철 2,821개체, 가을철 1,229개체로 봄철에 도래하는 개체수가 가을철보다 많았다. 우점종은 제1차 조사기간인 봄철에는 민물도요 Calidris alpina 2,024개체(88.5%), 흰물떼새 Charadrius alexandrinus 84개체(3.7%), 흰목물떼새 Charadrius placidus 11개체(2.4%)의 순으로 나타났으며, 가을철에도 민물도요 384개체(82.9%), 흰물떼새 20개체(4.3%), 흰목물떼새 11개체(2.4%)의 순으로 나타났다. 제2차 조사기간에는 봄철에 좀도요 Calidria ruficollis 116개체(21.8%), 민물도요 67개체(12.6%), 청다리도요 Tringa nebularia 58개체(10.9%)의 순으로, 가을철에는 민물도요 191개체(24.9%), 노랑발도요 T. brevipes 156개체(20.4%), 삑삑도요 T. ochropus 104개체(13.6%)의 순으로 나타났다. 동부지역은 서부지역에 비하여 우점도는 높았으나, 종다양도와 균등도는 낮게 나타났다. 동부지역과 서부지역간의 유사도는 0.85였다. 본 연구를 통해 물꿩 Hydrophasianus chirurgus, 검은머리물떼새 Haematopus ostralegus, 바늘꼬리도요 Gallinago stenura, 흰꼬리좀도요 Calidrius temminckii 등 4종의 제주도 미기록종과, 검은머리물떼새, 흰목물떼새, 넓적부리도요 Eurynorhynchus pygmeus, 알락꼬리마도요 Numenius madagascariensis 등 3종의 환경부 지정 보호조류가 관찰되었다. This study was part of a continuous research project on the status of migrating shorebirds on major wetlands in Cheju Island. This study was conducted twice every month for two years, from March 1998 to February 2000. The investigated location are mainly two areas. The first census areas were Hado-ri fishfarm and the coast of Jongdal-ri in Kujaw-up and Sungsan-po fishfarm in Sungsan-up, all located in the eastern part of Cheju Island. The second census areas were Yongsu-ri reservoir and the coast of Kumdung-ri in Hangyoung-myon and the coast of Ilgwa-ri in Dejong-up, all located in the western part of Cheju Island. In total, 45 species consisting 5,117 individuals were observed during the census period. There were 40 species and 4,910 individuals in the eastern area, 38 species and 927 individuals in the western area. The number of individuals of shorebirds in the spring migratory season was greater than in the autumn. The dominant species researched during the first census period were 2,024 individuals of Calidrius alpina (88.5%), 84 individuals of Charadrius alexandrinus (3.7%), 59 individuals of Charadrius placidus (2.6%) in spring and 384 individuals of Calidrius alpina (82.9%), 20 individuals of Charadrius alexandrinus (4.3%), 11 individuals of Charadrius placidus (2.4%) in autumn. The dominant species researched during the second census period were 116 individuals of Calidrius ruficolis (21.8%), 67 individuals of Calidrius alpina (12.6%), 58 individuals of Tringa nebularia (10.9%) in spring and 191 individuals of Calidrius alpina (24.9%), 156 individuals of Tringa brebipes (20.4%), 104 individuals of Tringa ochropus (13.6%) in autumn. Dominance index were recorded better in the eastern area than the western area, but species diversity and evenness index were recorded lower in the eastern area than the western area. Similarity index were 0.85 between the eastern area and the western area. Hydrophasianus chirurgus, Haematopus ostralegus, Gallinago stenura and Calidrius temminuckii, which are observed during the census period are previously unrecorded species on Cheju Island. Rare and endangered species were observed such as Haematopus ostralegus, Charadrius placidus, Numenius madagascariensis, and Eurynorhynchus pygmeus.

      • 유산구균 1370의 수용성 글루캔 형성에 영향을 미치는 인자

        The water-soluble glucan prodeced by Lactococcus lactis 1370 affects the formation of dental plaque by Streptococcus mutans. In this study the factors affecting the formation of water-soluble glucan were assessed as the optical density of culture supernatant of Lactococcus lactis 1370 in the spectrophotometer. 1. The optical density of culture supernatant was high when Lactococcus lactis 1370 was cultured in M17 broth with 5% sucrose, while being low in culture supernatant of Streptococcus mutans. 2. The optical density of culture supernatant was higher when Lactococcus lactis 1370 was cultured in M17 broth with 10% sucrose than when being cultured without sucrose (p<0.05), and was higher at pH 7 than pH 5 (p<0.05). 3. The optical density of culture supernatant was the highest at 37℃ among 32℃, 37℃ and 42℃, and was higher in the anaerobic incubator than in the aerobic incubator (p<0.05). 4. The optical density of culture supernatant was the highest in the media containing 1.0mM CaCl2 (p<0.05), 2.5mM KCl (p<0.05), and 1.6 mM MgCl2. 5. When Streptococcus mutans was cultured in the media containing a quarter culture supernatant of Lactococcus lactis 1370 grown in M17 broth, the mean weight of produced artificial plaque was 103.0 mg on the wire, whereas being significantly reduced to 5.6mg in the media containing a quarter culture supernatant of Lactococcus lactis 1370 grown in M17 broth containing 5% sucrose (p<0.05). These results indicate that the water-soluble glucan is more formed by Lactococcus lactis 1370 in the media containing sucrose or under the adequate conditions for the growth of bacteria, and inhibits the formation of artificial plaque by Streptococcus mutans.

        사회적 네트워크 유형 별 내향 중심성이 직무 스트레스에 미치는 차별적 영향

        As interdependent tasks have been increasing and the necessity of smooth communication among employees has been emphasized in organizations, scholars and practitioners are interested in the effects of social support from social relationships on job stress. Drawing on a social network perspective, we examined that social ties among organizational members influenced the level of job stress which they experience. We especially expected that the types of social networks in which employees were embedded (task-advice networks, friendship networks, and negative affect networks) were respectively linked to the provision, reception, and absence of social support, which in turn led to differently affecting individual job stress. According to the results of this study based on the survey data from employees in two organizations, the persons who occupied in-degree centrality in friendship networks were more likely to receive social support from the other employees and then their levels of job stress reduced, whereas the employees who were located in in-degree centrality in negative affect networks were less likely to receive social support from the other members, resulting in increasing the level of job stress they experienced. In addition, we hypothesized the U-shaped relationship between in-degree centrality in task-advice networks and individual job stress. In other words, we anticipated that the central persons in task-advice networks to the certain level tended to experience lower levels of job stress by the increased sense of control and self-esteem about themselves, and beyond the optimum level they were likely to experience higher levels of job stress because they were excessively granted the role of providing social support to the others. However, this hypothesis was not supported. This study suggests that the extent of centrality by the types of social networks differently influences the levels of job stress which organizational membersexperience.

      • 통조림용 가다랑어육의 식품성분

        가다랑어 혈합육을 보다 효율적으로 이용하기 위한 일련의 기초연구로서, 가다랑어 혈합육의 지질성분, 함질소엑스분 및 구성아미노산 등을 보통 육과 함께 분석하여 비교, 검토하였다. 보통육은 혈합육에 비해 수분, 조단백질 함량은 약간 많은 반면, 조지방과 회분 함량은 혈합육이 약간 많았다. 휘발성염기질소량은 보토육이 22.7mg/100g, 혈합육이 46.9mg/100ㅎ으로 혈합육이 보통육에 비해 선도저하가 훨씬 빨랐다. 보통육과 혈합육의 총지질 조성은 각각 중성지질 79.7%, 71.9%, 당지질, 6.8%, 9.5%, 인지질13.5%, 18.6%로 이루어져 있었다. 중성지질의 성분은 free fatty acid ac triglyceride, 인지질은 phosphatidyl ethanolamine, phosphatidyl, 인지질은 phosphatidyl choline이 주성분이었고, lysogud 인지질의축적도 확인되었다. 총지지르 중성, 당 및 인지질의 축적도 확인되었다. 종지질, 중성, 당 및 인지질의 지반산 조성에서 보통육은 16:0 및 18:1을 주체로 한 포화산 및 모노엔산의 조성비가 혈합육보다 높았으며, 혈합육은 폴리엔산, 특히 22:6의 비율이 월등히 높았다. 16:0. 18:0, 18:1, 20:5 및 22:6 등이 주요 구성지방산이었다. 유리아미노산의 조성은 총함량에서 보통육 쪽이 많았고, 보통육에는 histidine, 혈합육에는 tauring의 보통육에서는 680.9mg.100g 정도 전존해 있었으나, 혈합육에서는 IMP의 분해가 급속히 진행되어 73.1mg/100g에 지나지 않았다. TMAO 및 TMA는 보통육에 비해 혈합육에 휠씬 많이 함유되어 있었고, total creatinine은 보통육 쪽이 많았다. 구성아미노산의 조성은 양시료 간에 별차이가 없었고, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, lysine, leucine, alanine, isoleucine 및 arginine 등이 주요 구성아니노산이었다. The lipid components, nitrogenous extracts and amino acids of dark muscle(DM) of skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) were analyzed and compared with those of white muscle(WM). WM was higher in moisture and crude protein content, and lower in crude lipid and ash content than those of DM. Contents of volatile basic nitrogen in WM and DM were 22.7mg/100g and 46.9mg/100g. Total lipid(TL) of WM and DM consisted of 79.7%, 71.9% neutral lipid(NL), 6.8%, 9.5% glycolipid(GL), and 13.5%, 18.6% phospholipid(PL), respectively. NL was mainly composed of free fatty acid, triglyceride, and PL was mainly occupied by phosphatidyl ethanolamine, phosphatidyl choline. Also lysophosphatidyl choline and lysophosphatidyl ethanolamine were identified in PL. In fatty acid composition of TL, NL, GL and PL, WM revealed higher contents in saturates and monoenes such as 16 : 0, 18 : 1, while DM showed higher contents in polyenes such as 22 : 6 especially. The major fatty acids of these samples were generally 16 : 0, 18 : 0, 18 : 1, 20 : 5 and 22 : 6. Contents of total free amino acids from WM and DM were 5,982.3mg/100g and 4,450.7mg/100g (dry base). Of free amino acids, Tau concentration was much higher in DM than in WM, Ala, Gly, Met, Arg, Thr were also high in DM. But His was much higher in concentration in WM. Content of inosinic acid(IMP) in WM(680.9mg/100g) was higher than that of DM(73.1mg/100g). The degradations of IMP proceeded very rapidly in DM. DM contained much higher trimethylamine oxide and trimethylamine than those of WM. The profile of combined amino acids in these samples were very similar, and main amino acids were Glu, Asp, Lys, Ala, Ile and Arg.

      • 비만증 환자에서 한약제에 의한 체중 감소효과

Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 244-254, 1999.-Obesity can be defined as a metabolic disease due to an increased state of fat tissues caused by an imbalance of calorie intake and use. Recently, in Korea by improvement and westernization of food intake, along with decrease in exercise activities, the prevalence of obesity has increased greatly. Our objectives were to study stability and effects of decrease in body fat by administering red ginseng compound preparation (known to have body fat decreasing effects in laboratory animals) to obesity patients on low calorie diets. Changes in weight and body fat were measured while carrying out calorie-restricted diets on patients for 4 weeks, then administering red ginseng compound preparation for another 4 weeks. The patients were 20 people whose BMI were 25kg/㎡ or over and whose percent body fat was also 30% or over when tested by bioelectrical conductivity. 1. Changes in weight were from 70.04kg(base line) to 67.43kg(after taking red ginseng compound preparation). 2. In similar sense, BMI decreased from 27.12kg/㎡(base line) to 26.56kg/㎡(after dieting), and further to 26.01kg/㎡ (after taking red ginseng compound preparation). The BMI seemed to decrease significantly compared to the baseline after the use of red ginseng compound. 3. Waist hip ratio was changed from 0.8858(base line) to 0.8728, but it was statistically insignificant. 4. The percent body fat was 35,16%(base line), 33.87%(after dieting), and 31.68%(after taking red ginseng compound preparation). 5. Complete blood cell count and blood chemisrty remained unaffected by the administration. 6. In concern to endocrinologic studies, T3 decreased from 118.7 to 98.2ng/dL, and T4 increased from 8.8 to 9.2㎕/ dL. Epinephrine showed a tendency to decreased from 0.27 to 0.25 ng/mL, and norepinephrine increased from 0.39 to 0.44ng/mL. 7. Leptin was not changed. 8. Some patients complained adverse effects; constipation(5 patients, may be due to diet therapy), fatigue (2 patients), pruritus(2 patients), flushing(s patients), dizziness(3 patients) and epigastric discomfort(2 patients). However their symptoms were mild, so medication did not stopped. In conclusion, loss of weight without significant side effects was observed during low calorie diet and red ginseng compound preparation administration. This is thought to be in relation to sympathetic nerve system rather than adrenal gland. Also, further long0term studies should be required, since the observed results were based on short-term changes in weight.

        본 연구는 창업보육 프로그램을 통해 지원을 받고 있는 중소기업들이 "보유하고 있는 아이디어를 기술개발을 통해 사업화하는 과정에서" 필요한 제반 능력들을 어느 정도 확보하고 있는 지 파악하고, 또 CEO 및 기업 특성에 따라 이러한 기업 능력에 차이가 나타나고 있는 지 실증적으로 분석한 것이다. 아울러 이러한 창업보육 중소기업들이 기술사업화를 추진함에 있어서 부딪히는 제반 애로점들을 파악하여, 이를 효율적으로 지원할 수 있는 지원방안을 모색하는 데도 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 창업보육센터에 입주했거나 입주 예정인 기업들에 대해 정부가 추진하고 있는 "창업보육기술개발사업"을 통해 지원을 받은 중소기업들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 최종적으로 89개의 유효한 설문을 회수하였다. 창업보육 중소기업들의 기술사업화에 대한 실증분석을 통해 얻은 결과들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 창업보육 중소기업들의 기술혁신 및 사업화 능력을 분석한 결과, 전반적으로 연구개발 능력과 기술축적 능력이 기술혁신능력, 제품화 능력, 생산화 능력, 마케팅능력에 비해 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이들 기업에 대한 효과적인 지원을 위해서는 취약한 능력을 보강하는데 더 노력이 집중 되어야 하며, 구체적으로는 마케팅 능력, 생산화 능력, 제품화 능력 등의 구축에 더 정책 지원의 비중이 주어져야 한다. 둘째, 창업보육 중소기업의 CEO의 연령과 학력에 따른 기업능력의 정도를 검증한 결과, CEO의 연령이 40세 이상인 기업에서 사업화 관련 역량에서 조금 더 높았고, CEO의 학력별 기업능력의 차이 분석에서는 CEO의 학력이 대학원 이상으로 높은 기업에서 연구개발 및 생산화 능력이 우월하고 CEO의 학력이 대졸이하 인 기업에서는 기술축적, 기술개발, 제품화 및 마케팅에서 우월한 능력을 보였으나 통계적으로는 유의하지 않았다. 셋째, 창업보육 중소기업의 사업 경과연수에 따른 기업능력의 정도를 검증한 결과, 사업경력에 따라 통계 적으로 유의한 기업능력의 차이는 보이지 않았다. 다만 3년 이내 업력을 가진 기업에서 기술축적과 개발능력이 우수하고, 다른 능력에서는 3년 이상 경력 기업이 우수한 경향을 보였다. 넷째, 창업보육 중소기업이 기술개발 및 사업화를 하는데 기업자신의 보유능력과 비교하여 애로점이 많은 분야로는"자금조달 관리업무" "마케팅 업무", "조직구성 및 운영업무"의 순으로 나타나고 있다. 이러한 영역에서는 창업보육 중소기업들이 자신의 보유하고 있는 능력으로는 해결이 불가능하다고 응답하고 있다. 다섯째, 사업화를 수행하는 과정에서 필요로 하는 업무영역별 능력을 ① 기술개발 및 관리, ② 기술기획 및 전략기획, ③ R&D 프로젝트 관리, ④ 핵심기술 분석, ⑤ 사업계획 수립, ⑥ 자금조달능력, ⑦ 마케팅 능력, ⑧ 조직운영능력의 8개 분야로 구분하고 그 각각의 세부업무 수행능력에 대하여 `중요도의 인식`을 분석한 결과 〈기술개발 및 관리〉 분야가 모든 단위 변수에서 가장 중요하게 인식되고 있었다. 아울러 〈기술/ 전략 기획〉 분야의 "경영/기술전략 수립"과 〈자금조달능력〉 분야의 "재무 및 투자계획", <R&D 프로젝트 관리〉 분야의 "R&D 기획", 그리고 사업계획 수립이나 핵심기술 분석도 중요하게 나타났다. 반면에 기술사업화를 추진하는 직접적인 변수로 기업의 마케팅과 조직운영 변수는 중요도를 낮게 인식하고 있었다. 여섯째, 사업화 과정에서 자체 해결이 어려운 이슈가 무엇인지 분석하였는데, "투자 유치"가 가장 어렵다 고 답했고, 다음으로 "기술 사업화", "경영/기술 전략 수립", "리스크 관리"인 것으로 나타났다. 아울려 "시장 조사", "마케팅 전략/계획"도 어려운 업무로 나타났고, 상대적으로 기술기획이나 지적재산권 관리 등은 해결의 난이도가 높지 않다고 인식하고 있었다. 따라서 창업보육 중소기업의 사업화 애로점을 해소하려면 경영 및 사업화 능력 확충을 위한 교육과 정보 제공, 협력을 통한 연계 주선 및 지원체계의 강화 등이 지속적으로 추진되어야 하며, 기업들의 자구 노력과 제반 정책 지원을 통한 창업보육 중소기업들의 능력 강화는 기술사업화 활성화로 이어질 것이다. Business incubator (BI) is recognized as an efficient mechanism to promote new venture crea-tion, technology commercialization and job creation. To become successful, tenant firms of BIs should have attractive business opportunities and required capabilities. This study focuses on the small and medium en-terprises (SMEs) supported by the government`s business incubation project, and deals with technology de-velopment and commercialization processes of incubated SMEs those own ideas for new technology and product development. The purpose of this study is to analyze SMEs` capabilities and difficulties in technol-ogy commercialization and to propose government policies to effectively promote SMEs` commercialization. Based on previous literatures, this study developed a research framework. Data were collected from 89 SMEs, located or to be located in business incubators and financially supported by the government for the commercialization of new technologies. The questionnaire used in this study contains several items such as i) general company information (industry, location. CEO`s age and education, and years of business oper-ation), ii) SME`s technology development capabilities (R&D capability, technology accumulation capability, and technology innovation system), ill) SME`s technology commercialization capabilities (product commercialization capability, process/production capability, and marketing capability), iv) difficult business processes or areas faced during the technology commercialization process (company formation procedure, technology de-velopment and management, business planning, fund raising and finance, technology marketing, and organ-ization management), and v) recognized importance of each business activity or capability in technology commercialization. Empirical results obtained from statistical analyses were summarized as follows. First, SMEs showed high-er technology development capability than technology commercialization capability. Especially, R&D and technology accumulation capabilities were very high compared to product commercialization, process technol-ogy production, and marketing capabilities. Therefore government support to strengthen technology commerci-alization capabilities should be highlighted. Second, companies with an older CEO (40 years old and more) showed higher technology accumulation capability compared to those with a younger CEO. Firms` commercialization capabilities were not sig-nificantly different depending on the CEO`s education level. Third, years of business operation of incubated SMEs did not affect firms` technology development and commercialization capabilities, although younger firms showed slightly higher capabilities in technology de-velopment compared to older firms. Fourth, SMEs pointed "fund raising and finance" as the most difficult business area and bottleneck in tech-nology commercialization. "Technology marketing" and "organization management" were also very lacking areas in the process of commercialization. SMEs replied that these three areas are main bottlenecks and can-not be overcome without strong support from outside (including the government). Fifth, technology commercialization requires the integrated efforts of several business activities such as in-novation, business and technology planning, marketing, financing and organization management. In this study, commercialization-related activities or capabilities were classified into eight categories, such as i) technology development and management, ii) strategic technology planning, iii) R&D project management, iv) core tech-nology development, v) preparing a business plan, vi) financing, vii) marketing, and viii) organization management. The survey result shows that SMEs recognize "technology development and management" (such as corporate technology planning, technology commercialization, and core technology management) as the most important capability for successful commercialization. Furthermore, financial requirement analysis and investment planning, strategy formulation, R&D project planning, and business planning were also appeared as important activities and capabilities for commercialization. Based on the empirical study and findings, this study suggests following policy recommendations. First of all, financing was the key obstacle in technology commercialization. Therefore, securing several funding sources should be the priority policy measure. In addition to the government`s financial supports, the private sec-tor should take more active roles in early stage financing for SMEs through angels and venture capital investments. Government should make efforts for deregulation in the financial sector Second, the lack of planning and marketing capabilities can be ascribed to poor manpower. Government should support manpower training and recruiting through various training programs and subsidies for new hires. Long-term human resource development (HRD) planning should reflect the changing job market and emerging demands for new talents. Third, the roles of BIs should be strengthened from rent businesses (providing spaces) to integrated service providers. BIs should serve as technology commercialization platforms and make active networks with outside specialists. Especially, BI managers should have pivotal roles in technology commercialization and new ven-ture growth and more incentives should be given to the specialists or businessmen with real business experi-ences to become BI managers. Fourth, this study showed that lacks in management capabilities (rather than technology capabilities) were more critical bottleneck in commercialization. Therefore executive management programs for small business CEOs should be promoted. In addition, undergraduate engineering students should have more chances to study management as recommended courses. Finally, integrated and flexible support mechanism should be devised to actively promote technology com-mercialization, from start-up and business planning to financing and marketing. Cooperation among several policy-implementing agencies is also needed. This study analyzes limited samples of SMEs and the finding cannot be necessarily generalized into different situations. With the environmental change from catch-up imitators to front runners, however, innovative SM& in Korea really need planning and management capabilities for the prosperous future, and this study signals the importance of management knowledge, skills, and capabilities of small business CEOs.
