Toward A Theocentric Ecological Ethic of Inclusive Well-being

In spite of the public awareness of the ecological crisis, this crisis has increased over recent decades. The core of the ecological crisis lies in the complex realities of social injustice (i.e., corporate globalization) and environmental devastation (i.e., global warming).1 This complex crisis has been characterized under three dimensions as a crisis of participation, of survival and of emancipation.2 1 See Rosemary Ruether, Integrating Ecofeminism, Globalization and World Religion (Lanham: Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc., 2005), ch.1; Bill McKibben, Fight Global Warming Now( New York: Henry Holt and Company, 2007). 2 Robyn Eckersley, Environmentalism and Political Theory: Toward an Ecocentric Approach (Albany: State University of New York, 1992), ch.1. The first participatory theme sees the ecological crisis as a matter of poor planning which can be resolved by technological advances and policy improvements. By reviewing current research, this study aimed to identify the features of effective intervention using a socio-ecological model to improve physical activity (PA) and reduce sedentary behavior (SB) in young children. The databases used for the study were PubMed and Medline, and the effectiveness of the study was assessed based on the levels of PA and SB determinants in the socio-ecological model (i.e., individual, family, social, and environmental factors). Among the studies conducted on children aged six or younger, and published within the last decade, 67 met our criteria. Some individual (gender, body mass index [BMI], age), family and home (parental role modeling, parents` BMI, parents` education), social (socioeconomic status), and built environment (rural/urban, weekday/weekend) variables were found to have an impact on both PA and SB. Results call for further research in non-Western countries as well as for improvement of PA and reduction of SB in young children. Furthermore, additional studies are needed to examine effective, socio-ecological model-based interventions for PA and SB in young children.
텔레비전 드라마 <비밀의 숲 1>과 믿을 수 없는 서술자

본고는 ‘믿을 수 없는 서술자’라는 문학 이론 상의 개념이 텔레비전 드라마 <비밀의 숲 1>의 장르적 특성을 해명하는데에 도움을 줄 것이라는 전제에서 논의를 출발한다. 카메라 앵글, 편집, 조명 등 비언어적 시청각적 채널들의 정보 전달을 통해 추론되는 내포적 저자의 존재 양상을 우리가 상정할 수 있다면, 이러한 내포적 저자에 의한 믿을 수 없는 서술이 <비밀의 숲 1>에서는 도드라진다. 따라서 본고는 <비밀의 숲 1>의 장르 드라마로서의 미학적 완성도를 믿을 수 없음의 서술 양상을 통해 분석하는 것을 연구목적으로 삼고 형식적, 문화적 비평을 시도하려 한다. 각 인물들의 의심스런 제스처나 행동에 대한 불명확한 보고, 평가, 해석이 장면화되는 사례가 <비밀의 숲 1>에는 다수 나타난다. 이는 카메라가 텍스트의 실제적인 객관적인 세계, 즉 살인사건에 관한 허구적 진실을 전지전능하게 중립적으로 재현하기보다는 각 인물의 가능세계에 함축된 주관성을 비결정적으로 재현하고 있다는 인상을 시청자에게 남긴다. 이창준을 둘러싼 다른 인물들의 상반된 평가가 담긴 장면들이 편집되어 연속적으로 배열되는 것도 내포적 믿을 수 없음의 서술 양상으로 분류된다. 이러한 소통가능성의 결여, 서사의 탈구적 틀화의 경향성은 포인트 오브 쇼트로 상정되는 초점자의 주관적 내적 초점화 양상에서 보다 부각된다. 포인트 오브 쇼트로 구현된 초점화의 시선들은 결국 내포 저자에 의한 믿을 수 없는 서술을 표시한다. 내포저자의 층위에서 믿을 수 없음의 서술 양상은 윤과장과 이창준이라는 범죄자들, 즉 남을 속이는 데에 역량을 지닌 인물들을 출현시키기 위한 적절한 수사적 장치로 기능한다. 그러나 그들이 범죄자가 된 까닭에는 법체계가 오히려 믿을 수 없고 무고한 사람을 피해자로 몰아가며 상층계층의 사람들에게 면죄부를 주는 시스템으로 기능하고 있다는 사회적 부조리가 자리하고 있다. 내포적 의사소통 층위의 믿을 수 없음의 구조적 장치는 장르적, 서사적 미학의 형상화에 기여하며 동시에 문화적, 사회비평적 담론화의 장치로서도 소용된다. This paper starts the discussion on the premise that the literary concept of an unreliable narrator will also help to elucidate the characteristics of the television drama Stranger (Season 1). If we assume that the existential aspect of the implied author can be inferred through the information of non-verbal audiovisual channels such as camera angle, editing, lighting, etc., then the unreliable narration by the implied author is stood out in Stranger (Season 1). Therefore, this paper aims to analyze the aesthetic signification of Stranger (Season 1) as a genre drama through the narrative aspect of unreliability and attempt a formal and cultural critique. There are many cases in Stranger (Season 1) where unclear reports of suspicious gestures or actions of each character are staged. This leaves the viewer with the impression that the camera non-deterministically reproduces the subjectivity implied in the possible world of each character rather than omnisciently and neutrally reproduces the real objective world of the text, that is, the fictional truth about the murder case. Scenes containing conflicting evaluations of other characters surrounding Chang-Jun Lee are edited and arranged consecutively, which is also classified as a narrative aspect of unreliability. This lack of communicationability and the tendency of narrative deconstructive framing is more emphasized in the subjective internal focusing aspect of the focuser, which is assumed to be a point of shot. The gazes of focalization embodied as a point of shot are, in the end, a signal of unreliability by the implied author. In short, at the level of the implied author, the narrative aspect of unreliability functions as an appropriate rhetorical device for the emergence of criminals such as Manager Yoon and Chang-Jun Lee, who are non-authentic and capable of deceiving others. However, there is a social absurdity in the fact that the legal system is acting as a system that gives indulgences to the people of the upper classes by driving the unreliable but innocent people to be victims of their crimes. The structural device of the unreliability of the implied communicative layer contributes to the shaping of genre and narrative aesthetics, and at the same time serves as a device for cultural and social critical discourse.
Multicultural education for pre-service teachers in Korea using educational television docudramas

This paper examines the level of multicultural education awareness among Korean pre-service teachers (PSTs) and suggests a teaching and learning approach to enhance their multicultural competencies. This research utilized a South Korean educational television and radio network, Educational Broadcasting System (EBS), particularly, its programme called Multicultural biographies of a mother-inlaw and a daughter-in-law [다문화고부열전] as a diagnostic tool to assess PSTs’ recognition of multicultural education. The programme focuses on the challenges faced by married migrant women in Korea. The study used survey materials based on the EBS docudrama to investigate PSTs’ perceptions of multicultural education. The results showed that most PSTs understood the significance of teaching and learning about cultural diversity but had limited understanding beyond the dichotomies of the mainstream and minorities or Korean and immigrant students. The study recommends the use of docudramas as an effective tool for promoting multicultural education among PSTs in Korea

본고는 2019년 기준 구독자수가 가장 많은 개인 유튜버였던 <보람튜브>를 대상으로 그것의 놀이 형식을 사회극적 놀이 차원에서 분석하고 이러한 놀이가 아동 발달 심리에 주는 의의를 아울러 규명하고자 한다. 본고의 연구는 유튜브 키즈콘텐츠의 놀이 교육적 의의를 조망한다는 점에서 고찰의 의의가 있다. 본론에서는 사물, 인물, 상황 가작화의 차원에서 <보람튜브>의 내용을 분석하고 이를 아동의 인지적, 지각적, 정서적 발달의 측면과 연계하여 그 의의를 분석한다. 결론적으로 <보람튜브>에 나타난 사회극적 놀이의 차원에 의해 아동의 인지적, 지각적, 정서적 발달이 심화되면서, 또래나 부모라는 타인들 속에서 사회적 존재로서의 자아에 대한 아동의 감각이 발전되고 있음이 규명되었다. This paper analyzes the play form of <Boram Tube>, an individual YouTuber with the highest number of subscribers as of 2019, in terms of socio-dramatic play, and attempts to identify the significance of such play on the child's developmental psychology. This study is meaningful in that it looks at the educational significance of kids content on YouTube. The contents of <Boram Tube> are analyzed in the dimension of imagining objects, characters, and situations, and their significance is analyzed in connection with the cognitive, perceptual, and emotional development of children. In conclusion, this has been clarified that as the cognitive, perceptual, and emotional development of children is deepened by the dimension of social drama shown in <Boram Tube>, children's sense of self as a social being is developing among others such as peers and parents.
