The purpose of the present investigation was to compare physique, skeletal maturation and physical fitness in Korean adolescents measured between 1998 and 2007. Subjects participated in the study were a total of 473 Korean adolescents aged 12 to 13 years. In 1998, 349 adolescents were selected from a middle school, located in Sungnam city and 124 middle school students aged 12-13, located in Yongin city were participated in 2007. All measurements were conducted by one of the reseachers (Jong-Kook Song) with two different group of investigators between 1998 and 2007. Anthropometric characteristics were body mass, body height, sitting height, circumferences taken at sites of upper arm, flexed upper arm, chest, waist, hip, thigh, and calf, bone breadth taken at the sites of humerus, and femur, skinfold thicknesses taken at the sites of triceps, subscapular, suprailiac, thigh and medial calf. Skeletal maturity was assessed by TW3 (Tanner et al., 2001). Maturity scores for Radius-Ulna-Short bones (RUS) and bone age were calculated. Physical fitness parameters included flamingo balance, sit and reach, grip strength, sit-ups, standing long jump, bent arm hang, 50m shuttle run and multi-stage shuttle run. All data were analyzed by SAS Enterprise 3.0. Means and standard deviations were calculated by descriptive statistics. Independent t-test was applied to compare dependent variables between measurements. The level of significance was set at p<0.05. Results of the study showed that male adolescents aged 12-13years in 2007 had significantly higher (p<0.0001) femur diameter than adolescents in 1998. Male adolescents in 2007 had higher (p<0.05) chest, waist and calf circumferences than those of adolescents in 1998. Although no difference were found for RUS and bone age in males adolescents between 1998 and 2007 female adolescents in 2007 were significantly delayed for their skeletal maturity level compared to female adolescents in 1998. For physical fitness parameters male adolescents aged 12 years in 2007 performed better for flamingo balance (p<0.01), and 50m shuttle run (p<0.05) than those of adolescents in 1998. However, stand long jump and bent arm hang were significantly decreased in male adolescents in 2007. Female adolescents aged 12-13 years in 2007 had significantly higher flamingo balance, but female adolescents aged 12 years in 2007 performed significantly less for standing long jump (p<0.0001), bent arm hang (p<0.001) and speed (p<0.05) than those of female adolescents in 1998. In conclusions this study suggest that chest circumference for both male and female adolescents in 2007 was significantly higher than those in 1998. Skeletal maturity for female adolescents in 2007 were significantly delayed compared to female adolescents in 1998. Further study is needed to evaluate consistent various.

소아에 발생한 필지신경교정 1예

핍지신경교종은 두개강 내 전 종양의 2.2~5.6%를 차지하고 성별의 차이 없이 성인에서 호발하며 주로 전두엽에 흔히 발생한다. 문헌상 20세 이전의 소아에서 발생하는 율은 약 0.9%이며 성인과 비교하여 현저히 낮은 빈도를 보이고 있다. 단순 두개골 X-선 촬영상 40∼60%에서 석회화침착을 보이며 뇌전산화 단층촬영의 도입으로 진단에 많은 발전을 가져왔다. The oligodendroglioma accounts for 2.2~5.6% of all intracranial tumors. It occurs frequently in adult without sexual differences and mainly in frontal lobe. From review of the literature it occurs less frequently in children than in adult, with the percentage of 0.9%. 40∼60% of the oligodendroglioma reveals the calcification density on plain skull X-ray and recently the diagnosis of the tumor has become easier than before by use of CT-scan.

Objectives : We aimed to compare clinical outcomes, work status and total costs of care associated with typical and atypical treatment in patients with schizophrenia. Methods : Cost data for services and prescription use were retrieved retrospectively for 40 and 27 patients with Schizophrenia who were initiated on typical or atypical antipsychotics after registration in 1994 and 2000, respectively. Each patient was followed for 3 year after initiation of therapy. Direct and indirect cost were calculated for both groups and analyzed by SAS 8.2 Results : There was not significant difference in clinical outcomes between two groups except the number of admission was higher in typical antipsychotics group (p<0.05). As for direct cost, patients prescribed on atypical antipsychotics have paid almost two-fold more than typical groups. However, the proportion of unemployment was higher in typical group than in atypical group, leading to much loss of productivity. Therefore, considered offset by lower indirect costs, total costs per Patients over the study were 19% higher in typical treatment group than in atypical treatment group. Conclusions : Atypical antipsychotics were estimated to be of advantage over typical antipsychotics, by offsetting the big difference of medication cost between two classes.

노인 집단에서 한국판 Mini-Mental State Examination의 진단 능력

Diagnostic power of the Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE-K) for DSM-III-R dementia was assessed in a large sample of the elderly aged 60 years of more. The sample consisted of the demented elderly(n=113) and the elderly(n=234) with either mental disorders other than dementia or no mental disorders. At the cutoff point of 24/23, he sensitivity was 92.0% and the specificity was 91.5%. MMSE-K scores overlapped in 23.9% of demented people and 39.3% of the nondemented. With introduction of the arbitrary criteria of 'questionable dementia' (MMSE-K score 21-24) false positive rate was reduced to 1%,false negative rate to 3%. Seventy-four percent of males with 'questionable dementia' score were clinically demented while only 12% of females with he same score were demented.

성인 여성의 댄스스포츠 참가가 신체이미지와 자기표현에 미치는 영향

The background variances in the test were age, education level, married/single, income, and independent variance is participating vs. not participating in Dance sports. Self body image and self expression were set as methodological variance and independent variance each. Weight, health condition, body shape related scales were adopted to diagnose the self physical image using paper survey. Self expression is assessed with survey questions related to proactive expression, ethical expression, altruistic expression, direct expression scales. The survey was consisted of 5 questions for each category so that the total number of questionnaires was 20. One-way ANOVA, ANCOVA, multiple regression analysis, and path analysis were applied to analyze statistical the data. According to such methodology and process, the result of this study explains followings, First, the change of self body image of participants in Dance sports was statistically meaningful compared to non-participants. Also, the participants showed meaningful increase of score in weight, heath condition, body shape related factors which are the lower elements of self body image. Next, the change of increase in self expression of participants was also statistically meaningful compared to control group. Finally, the interaction between dance sports, self body image, and self expression was supported with meaningful result which was strengthened with direct and indirect effect of self body image on self expression. Therefore, the study of this paper presents the strengthened self expression through improved self image which is visualized by Dance sports.

This study is intended to propose a reliability based approach to safety assessment and berth-capacity rating of aged wharf structures based on measured data acquired from an extensive dynamic field load testing against berth impact of real ships. The study comprises the essential part of a project for assessing actual berth-capacity of deteriorated and damaged dolphin structures at the Onsan oil refinery wharf currently operated for the berth of oil refinery ships of 20,000 DWT.

엔로플록사신 액제의 닭유래 병원세균에 대한 시험관내 항균효과 시험

In this study the antimicrobial spectrum and sensitivity of a liquid formulation of enrofloxacin against the major six pathogenic bacteria isolated from the diseased poultry in Korea were evaluated in comparison with ciprfloxacin (CFX), gentamicin (GM) and penicillin (PC). A liquid form of enrofloxacin, a test material and ciprofloxacin showed at least 83% antibacterial activity against all of six test pathogenic microorganisms at the fixed concentration of 10 ㎍/㎖. Gentamicin and penicillin revealed much lower antibacterial activity at the same condition. We evaluated the liquid form of enrofloxacin as having widespread antibacterial spectrum against poultry infections. The liquid form of enrofloxacin showed potent antibacterial activity, with the MIC range being 0.12∼2 ㎍/㎖ against Gram positives, 0.06∼2 ㎍/㎖ against Gram negatives and 0.5∼2 ㎍/㎖ against Mycoplasma spp. These values were equivalent to or somewhat higher than those of ciprofloxacin, but much lower than those of gentamicn and penicillin. This new liquid form of enrofloxacin would find its way in application of mixing with drinking water for the prevention and treatment of diverse infections in chickens.

韓牛 末梢血液 淋巴球의 在來山羊 赤血球 Rosette形成

In order to enumerate the T lymphocytes in bovine peripheral blood lymphocytes(PBL) by E rosette assay, KGRBC were treated with various concentration of 2-aminoethylisothiouronium bromide hydrobromide(AET) and dextran(Dex), singte or combination. The PBL from 10 clinically normal Korean native cattle were formed as low percentage of spontaneous E rosette(6.7±2.4%) in control group, whereas KGRBC treated with 0.1M AET for 20 minutes and 8%Dex were formed as 37.3±2.7% and 45.1±2.1%, respectively. And the synergistic effects were noted no less than 66.5±5.6% when the KGRBC treated with 0.1M AET and 8% Dex subsequently. These results suggest that the KGRBC would be a useful agent for the enumeration of T tymphocytes by E rosette assay in bovine PBI.

This study was designed to examine the in vitro antibacterial activities and pharmacokinetics of enrofloxacin acetate (ENFXA) and enrofloxacin (ENFX). Two enrofloxacins had wide spectrum antibacterial activities against Gram positive and negative bacteria, and mycoplasma, showing potent antibacterial activities with low MICs (0.05-3.33 ㎍/㎖ for Gram positives, 0.002 ㎍/㎖ for Gram negatives and 0.02 ㎍/㎖ for mycoplasma). In order to investigate the profiles of two formulations of enrofloxacin we studied comparative pharmacokinetics of them in rabbits. Five rabbits were given 5 ㎎/㎏ body weight of each enrofloxacin formulation intravenously (i.v.) and orally (p.o.) in a cross-over study. Pharmacokinetic parameters of both formulations were calculated by the use of PCNONLIN, a computer program. Their bioavailibility in rabbits, the means of the area under the curve (AUC). After oral administration of each formulation in rabbits, the mean elimination half-lives (t_1/2,ke) were 3.25h (ENFX) and 4.32 h (ENFXA), and mean AUC 4.27 ㎍·h/㎖ (ENFX) and 6.21 ㎍·h/㎖ (ENFXA). Both enrofloxacin formulations seemed to have good tissue distribution and penetration as indicated by large volume of distribution: 4.76 1/㎏ for ENFX and 7.23 1/㎏ for ENFXA. With the results obtained in this study, ENFXA could be used in place of ENFX in rabbits.
