        This article aims to analyse the characteristics of modern Korean plays which had adapted Korean traditional drama <Shim Chung-Jeon>. For the purpose, I examine the similarities and the differences between traditional and modern plays through the analysis of four modern plays. first, I describe how a traditional drama <Shim Chung-Jeon> had been changed to modern plays which had writen by Chae Man-Sik, Choi In-Hoon, and Oh Tae-Sok. I demonstrate that modern works had eliminated fantastic facts from traditional one and became more resonable and real. I also show that all of the modern works had focused not on the filial duty of Shim Chung, but on the surroundings of Shim Chung. Intrnal conflict of 'Shim Bong Sa' consititutes main import of Chae Man-Sik's works. Choi In-Hoon had parodied the traditional story <Shim Chung-Jeon>, in his work Shim Chung had been sold over to a Chinise whorehouse and had a checkered life. Oh Tae-Sok represents a unique example for adaption of traditonal drama I modern play. In his work, Shim Chung had revived in 1990' and had gained many social experiences. After all, through the analyse of modern plays which had adapted <Shim Chung-Jeon>, it's clear that Modern playwriters are intended to depict reality, the phases of the Period, and substantial situation of human existence.

      • 제의극으로서의 <神들의 結婚> 연구

        In this thesis I studied <The Wedding of Gods>, the play of Kim Ja Rim, focussing on the structure of ritual which we have not researched sufficiently yet. In this point of view, this thesis analysed how the relation of the structure of play and that of Korean folk rituals could be interpreted. At first, the favor toward realistic dramas in Korea settled as early as 1960'. In the 1960', the import of western experimental (non-realistic and anti-realistic) plays became one of main tendency in Korea. A search for a unique Korean Style drama fitting into Korean circumstances was an another main tendency of 1960'. Focussing on the structure principle and ways of expression, <The Wedding of Gods> has many anti-realistic aspects. Kin Ja Rim experiments first person narrator that can manipulate time and space in dramas. And with this technics, the playwright let audience obtain a chance to rethink the ethnic customs of Korean layman. These technics share many aspects of Western Epic Thertre and of Korean folk play. Thus, Kim Ja Rim represents a good example of searching a framework for Modern korean Play in the traditional Korean folk play and in Western experimental plays. Finally, as a first Korean female playwright, Kim Ja Rim didn't reveal a distinguished feminist vision in <The Wedding of Gods>. But, Kim shown a distinct feminist vision in this play that is neither an aggressive on nor a passive one. The women in <The Wedding of Gods> appeared not a fighter or a slave, but a stately human being.

      • 한국 여성작가 희곡 연구 : 1960년대 박현숙 희곡 연구

        It is taken granted that Korean plays in 1960's had two main streams, 'Realism' and 'Anti-Realism'. The female playwriters who appeared in 1960's played an important part in making a turning point in the Korean dramatic words, in which the male writers activities had made the main stream. The objects of this thesis are look into and to investigate characters and the position of the female drama works, which have been alienated in the history of modern drams literature. Park Hyun Sook is a first Korean female playwriters, and fully equipped with a character of literature as well as that of play. In this thesis, I choose to of Park Hyun Sook's early plays of 1960's. The figures of Park's early plays are classified into two tendencies, and analyses the problems raised in these works. First, Park's early plays overcome the expressional limitation in realistic drama and providies for a lot of effects when it is staged. At the same time, these plays present the freedom in technics. On the other hand, the women of Park's early plays regarded the happiness of family as the ideal aim of life and they succeed to traditional image of women that is the target of feminist criticism. Therefore to evaluate the whole aspect of Park's plays deep analyses of her dramas in a view point of literature and in that of play should be followed variously and lastly.

      • '-로'의 인지의미론적 분석

        '경로, 방향, 지향점, 원인, 변화, 재료, 시간' 등의 다양한 의미를 나타내는 국어의 조사 '-로'는 인지의미론적인 시각에서 볼 때, 하나의 의미 카테고리를 형성한다. '-로'의 의미 카테고리를 구성하는 여러 의미들은 하나의 중심 의미에서 '은유'와 '환유'라는 인지 기제의 작용에 의해 동기 부여되어 다른 변이 의미들로 연쇄된 것이다. 즉, 가장 기본적이고 원형적인 특성을 보이는 '통과 이동'의 의미를 중심으로 〈공간 →시간 →상황〉, 〈구체적 또는 물질적 →추상적〉인 순으로 변이 의미의 연쇄가 이루어져서 의미 확장이 되었다고 보는 것이다. 따라서 이제까지 여러 가지로 분류ㆍ기술되어 왔던 '-로'의 의미들은, 중심 의미에서 여러 변이 의미들로 연쇄된 방사상 구조를 가진 의미 카테고리로 일관성 있게 기술될 수 있다.

        한국인 EFL 학습자의 결정적 시기와 보편문법

        There has been a growing enthusiasm in Korea for the early education of English as a foreign language (EFL). The present study examined the validity of the Critical Period Hypothesis in terms of the Universal Grammar (UG), in three different types of learning contexts - first language (L1), second language (SL), and foreign language (FL) learning contexts. While previous research findings in L1 and SL learning contexts suggest that UG principles and parameters are accessible to language leamers only for the early years of lifetime, this article argues that their results - and even the methods - cannot be applied to EFL settings and that independent studies on the EFL context are required. It also proposes the recent UG notion of functional categories as the most appropriate subject in the discussion of Korean EFL learners' access to UG. Findings on foreign language contexts, including the author's own, strongly indicate that UG is not sensitive to learners' starting ages in FL settings. If young children in FL contexts cannot develop their interlanguage grammar based on UG, the existing teaching methods for young children should be revised.

        유학생을 위한 대학 생활 적응 프로그램 설계 연구

        This study designed a college life adjustment program for international students that is different from the current freshman orientation program. Before designing, the orientation program for freshman of college in Korea was compared and the study examined current condition of international students in Korea. As the result, it was confirmed that the international students felt most difficult about college classes, and the cause of problem came from Korean language proficiency and insufficient adjustment to Korean culture. Also, it was confirmed that the students regard employment information, certificates and human relations. The study also verified the sense of belonging or school life adjustment the international students feel. Based on the problems and solutions drew up through analysis, the study set goals and composed program details to design "college life adjustment program for international students". The study discussed that there is a need to provide program in short and long term basis by supporting in stages in accordance with admission period, grade and condition of foreign students, and suggested the actual program which should he conducted at the beginning of college admission. 본 연구는 기존의 신입생 오리엔테이션 프로그램과의 차별성을 두고 유학생을 위한 대학 생활 적응 프로그램 내용을 설계하였다. 설계에 앞서 국내 대학의 신입생 대상 오리엔테이션 프로그램을 비교하였으며, 한국에 있는 유학생의 현황을 살펴보았다. 유학생의 특징을 살피기 위하여 배재대학교 유학생을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였고, 그 결과 학교생활 중에서 학과 수업을 가장 어려워한다는 것을 알게 되었으며 이러한 문제는 한국어 숙달도와 한국 문화에의 적응 부족에서 기인하고 있었다. 또한 학생들은 취업 정보 및 자격증 취득과 인간관계를 중요시한다는 점을 알 수 있었으며, 그들 자신이 느끼는 학교에서의 소 속감이나 학교생활 적응도도 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 분석을 통해 도출된 문제점과 해결 방안을 토대로 목표 설정 및 프로그램 내용을 구성하여 ‘유학생을 위한 대학 생활 적응 프 로그램’을 설계하였다. 설계된 내용은 유학생의 입학 시기, 학년, 상황에 따라 단계적으로 지원하고 단기적, 장기적 차원으로 제공해야 함을 논하였으며, 입학 초기에 이루어져야 하는 프로그램의 실제를 보였다.

        Study on Korean Education in the era of Digital Humanities

        본고는 디지털 인문학 시대의 첨단화된 한국어 교육의 청사진을 제시하는 데 궁극적 목적을 가진다. 제4차 산업혁명 시대에 들어서며 인간의 삶은 현실과 이상의 경계가 모호해지고 있다. 과학 소설의 다양한 창의적 발상들이 현실로 이루어졌으며, 상상과 가능성 그리고 실현 사이에 존재하는 시간적, 물리적 격차가 점차 줄어들며 지난밤의 꿈이 새 아침의 현실로 구현되는 일이 더 자연스러운 시대가 되었다. 과거 소설이나 영화 속에서 존재하던 첨단 디바이스와 가상현실 세계는 현재 IoT 및 VR 기술의 발달로 이미 실세계에 구현되었다. 이러한 변화는 교육 영역에도 많은 잠재성을 부여했다. 특히 다양한 현실적 제약을 가지는 외국어 교육 영역에서 이러한 발전은 시공을 초월한 교수-학습의 요구에 부응할 수 있도록 교육의 패러다임을 변화시키고 있다. 본고는 디지털 인문학 시대의 도래와 함께 변화를 맞이할 ‘언어 교육’과 ‘한국어 교육’의 새로운 모습에 대해 전망하고 앞으로 ‘디지털 인문학’ 연구와 ‘언어 교육(한국어 교육)’ 연구가 나아가야 할 방향에 대해 제안하였다. This paper aims to present the blueprint of advanced Korean education in the era of digital humanities. In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, human life is blurring the boundaries between reality and ideals. Various science-fictional ideas came into life, and the gap between reality and imagination has been shrinking, turning yesterday’s dream into today’s actuality. igh-tech devices and virtual reality that were only imagined through novels and movies are now present around the world through IoT and VR technology. This change also brought many potential in the field of education, especially in the language education field that faces a lot of constraints. Now the paradigm of education is changing to fulfill the need of education that transcends time and space. With the advent of the digital humanities era, we will anticipate the new changes in 'language education' and 'Korean language education', and suggest directions for future studies of 'digital humanities' and 'language education (Korean language education)'.

        Effect of Processibility on EFL Learners’ Acceptability Judgments of Wh-Island Constructions

        Recent studies on native speakers’ acceptance of wh-island sentences suggest that their judgments are affected by processing factors such as properties of fronted wh-phrase and intervening materials in filler-gap dependency. The present study investigated whether L2 learners’ acceptability judgments were likewise affected by the processibility of a sentence. Ninety-eight Korean adult learners of English at three proficiency levels and 21 adult native English speakers participated in an acceptability judgment task. They were instructed to rate the acceptability of four types of wh-island constructions whose processing demands differed in terms of two processing factors: (i) the type of fronted wh-phrase, and (ii) the type of intervening lexical materials in filler-gap dependency. Analyses of these participants’ ratings showed that EFL learners were generally insensitive to these processing factors. In contrast, native speakers were sensitive to these factors, judging that constructions with a low processing cost was more acceptable than those with a high processing cost. Although high-proficiency EFL learners demonstrated some sensitivity to these processing factors, they preferred island constructions that were most costly in terms of intervening lexical materials. These findings suggest that the effect of processing factors in L2 acceptability judgments is relevant only for advanced learners in whose grammar long-distance movement is operative. In addition, their acceptability judgments are more sensitive to semantic information of lexical arguments than to processing costs.
