P-Glycoprotein Inhibitory Activity of Indonesian Medicinal Plants in Human Breast Cancer Cells

In order to examine their effects on the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) activity in human breast cancer cels,Calotropis gigantea, Curcuma aeruginosa, Merremia mammosa, Sindora sumatrana, and Zingiber casumunar,showed the most potent P-gp inhibitory activity. When each of these extracts was treated together with theanticancer agent, daunomycin, they increased the cytotoxic activity of daunomycin up to IC50 values of les than6.62 M, which is a value with a positive control, verapamil. Also, other 15 plant extracts exhibited significant P-50 values betwen 6.62 and 13.20 M. These prospective samples wil be subjectedto further laboratory phytochemical investigation to find active principles.Keywords . . . . . . .
연암(燕巖) 박지원(朴趾源)의 만년 사상(思想)에 대한 재론(再論) -맹인 설화와 「답임형오논원도서(答任亨五論原道書)」를 중심으로-

이 논문은 燕巖 朴趾源(1737~1805)의 저작에 자주 나타나는 맹인 설화와 연암의 만년 저작인 「答任亨五論原道書」를 함께 고찰하여 연암이 만년에 陽明學을 지지하고 있었음을 논증한 것이다. 연암은 젊은 날 쓴 「答蒼崖」에서 `눈을 감고 발이 가는 대로 걸어가라`고 주장하였다. 주희는 格物致知의 지적인 공부를 `눈을 환하게 뜨는 일`로, 실천 공부를 `발로 걷는 일`로 비유하여, 격물 공부를 부정하고 마음에 근거하여 실천할 것을 주장한 상산학의 공부방법이 `눈을 감고 길을 걸어가는 것`처럼 위험하다고 주장하였다. 퇴계를 비롯한 우리나라의 주자학자들도 주희의 이 비유를 사용하여 상산학·양명학의 공부론을 비판하였다. 연암 또한 30대 후반에 쓴 「爲學之方圖跋」에서 `눈을 환하게 뜬 뒤에 걸어가야 한다`고 하여 격물치지의 지적인 공부에 기반하여 실천 공부로 나아가야 한다고 주장한 적이 있다. `눈을 환하게 뜬 뒤에야 길을 걸어갈 수 있다`는 주자학의 주장이 하나의 극단이라면, `눈을 감고 발이 가는 대로 걸어가라`고 한 연암의 주장 또한 하나의 극단이라고 할 수 있다. 주자학에 대한 지지와 반발 사이에서 오가던 연암은 만년에이 두 극단과는 다른 하나의 입장으로 자신의 공부론을 정리하게 된다. 연암의 이 만년 정론이 드러난 글이 「答任亨五論原道書」이다. 연암은 만년 저작인 「답임형오논원도서」에서 `발이 가는 대로 편안하게 걸어가면 길은 절로 알 수 있다`고 하였다. 그리고 `눈을 감고 발이 가는 대로 걸어가는 맹인` 대신 `한 발은 하늘을 향하고 한 발은 땅을 디디어 걸어가는 사람`이라는 새로운 비유를 창출하였다. 주희는 눈과 발로 知와 行의 공부방법을 비유한 것과 마찬가지로 길을 걸어가는 두 발로 자신의 공부방법을 비유하기도 하였다. 그는 한 발을 멈추고 다른 한 발을 앞으로 내밀어 걸어가듯이, 또는 왼발을 먼저 내밀고 오른발을 나중에 내밀어 걸어가듯이, 지와 행은 분리된 채 知先行後의 순서에 따라 진행되는 것이라고 주장하였다. 연암은 이러한 주희의 공부방법을 비판하면서 인간은 天理와 합일되어 있는 마음의 움직임에 따라 지상에서 즉각적으로 선을 실천할 수 있는 존재임을 주장하였다. 「답임형 오논원도서」를 통해 보면 연암은 만년에 주자학의 지선행후의 공부방법을 부정하고 양명학의 知行合一說을 긍정하고 있었음을 알 수 있다. This study reviewed the Blindman tale, which made often appearances in the works of Yeonam Park Ji-won(1737~1805), and one of his works in his later years, Dapimhyeongononwondoseo, and demonstrated that he supported the doctrines of Wang Yangming in his later years. In his Dapchangae, one of his earlier works from his younger days, he insisted that people should "walk as their feet take them with their eyes closed." Zhuxi argued that the study method of Xiangshanxue, which compared the intellectual study of "gaining knowledge by the study of things(格物致知)" to "opening one`s eyes wide" and the practical study to "walking on one`s feet" and maintained that people should deny the study of things and work on practice based on the mind, was dangerous like "walking with one`s eyes closed." Korean scholars of Zhuzixue including Toigye criticized the study theories of Xiangshanxue and the doctrines of Wang Yangming, citing Zhuxi`s metaphor above. Yeonam too maintained that one should move forward to practical study based on the intellectual study of "gaining knowledge by the study of things, `saying` one should take his steps only after opening his eyes wide" in his Wuihakjibangdobal, which he wrote in his late thirties. If the argument of Zhuzixue that "one can take steps only after opening his eyes wide" stands at one extreme end of the line, Yeonam`s argument that "one should walk as their feet take them with their eyes closed" in his Dapchangae stands at the other extreme end. After years of being torn between support for and opposition against Zhuzixue,Yeonam sorted out his study theories in a standpoint that was different from the two extreme ends in his later years. It is in Dapimhyeongononwondoseo that he wrote down his sound arguments in his later years. In Dapimhyeongononwondoseo, one of his works from his later years, he said "one will know where he should go if he lets his feet take him" and came up with a new metaphor, "a person who walks with one foot in the sky and the other on the land," instead of "the blindman who lets his feet take him withhis eyes closed."Comparing the eye and feet to the study method of knowledge and practice, Zhuxi compared his study method to walking on the feet. He argued that knowledge and practice should be separate and that knowledge should come before practice just like one moves forward by pushing one foot forward with the other standing still or steps the left foot first and then the right foot. Criticizing those study methods of Zhuxi, Yeonam maintained that people should be capable of practicing good immediately according to the movement of the mind that is one with the natural law. Dapimhyeongononwondoseo clearly shows that he denied the study method of knowledge first and practice later by Zhuzixue and approved the theory of knowledge and practice as one by the doctrines of Wang Yangming in his later years.

A family therapist has to know what a triangle in family system, is how it has developed, the process of the triangle, the effect of the triangle on the family members, whether it`s effects are negative, and how the family members have been effected. Because family therapist cannot understand the family without knowing the about. Everything in the world is apt to keep an homeostasis. If there is no security between objects, they need another part in order to have homeostasis. This principle is same in family system. If there is no homeostasis in marrital system, the third person invades into the married couple. The triangle happens when the family members come in and out of the family. It is necessary to have a knowledge about the triangle to see the problems of family system.
Cytotoxic Constituents from the Whole Plant of Corydalis pallida

Here we report the cytotoxic activity of three known compounds isolated for the first time from Corydalis pallida (Papaveraceae). An isoquinoline alkaloid, berberine, exhibited cytototoxic activity against two human cancer cell lines, HT-1080 (human fibrosarcoma) and SNU-638 (human stomach adenocarcinoma), with $IC_{50}$ values of 3.2 and 3.4 $\mu$g/mL, respectively. Ntrans-feruloyltyramine and N-trans-feruloylmethoxytyramine were also isolated from this plant but were inactive.
