Baihua Village is a typical mountainous village in the southwest part of Lujiang county, Longyang District, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province. Residents there made a living on the land, including growing sugarcane and planting maize, whose annual income was no more than 2000 yuan before 2006. Since then when a research institute has set it as one of the pilot villages for mango growing impetus with sci-tech. For the sake of “One village and One Product”, mango breeding and relevant techniques have been applied to daily work. Within years, the developed model of has been explored: simply “villages are the main carriers facilitated by the specialized cooperative for mango growing, back-up by science and technology. Technical trainings serve as the driving force for the leading growers, meanwhile, sellers work as the bridge link the producing-end and the markets”.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of clove extract (CE) (0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, and 2%) on the oxidative stability and quality deterioration of Chinese-style sausage stored for 21 d at 4°C. The addition of clove extract to sausages significantly retarded increases in Thiobarbituric Reactive Substances (TBARS) values (p<0.05), while also controlling the production of protein carbonyls (p<0.05). However, the addition of clove extract promoted reduced thiol group content in sausages (p<0.05). Sausages amended with clove extract also had decreased L* values (p<0.05) and increased a* values (p<0.05) when compared with the control. Similarly, texture deterioration was retarded in sausage containing added clove extract when compared with the control during refrigerated storage. Moreover, the addition of clove extract had no negative effects on the sensory properties of sausages. These results suggested that clove extract was effective at protecting sausages from oxidation and quality deterioration during refrigerated storage for 21 d.

Welded hollow spherical joints (WHSJ) have been widely used in various space structures. Corrosion of WHSJ is inevitable and will eventually threaten the structural safety. This paper makes an assessment of the accuracy of quality inspection procedures commonly employed by spatial grid structure to calculate the failure pressure of corroded WHSJ via fi nite element analyses (FEA). Second, this paper studies the infl uence of the corrosion depth, corrosion pattern, groove height, joint size and other parameters on the bearing capacity of WHSJ also via FEA. Analytical procedures to calculate the failure pressure associated grooving corrosion are not available yet. Thus, based on the parametric analysis results, such a procedure is devised and proposed here. Results indicated that the wall thickness loss and the diameter ratio were the main factors aff ecting the ultimate compressive performances of WHSJ; the volume loss of WHSJ outside the "critical latitude of groove" had nothing to do with the compressive performances; the infl uence of corrosion on the ultimate compressive performances was independent of the diameter and thickness of WHSJ. The derived result would lay a foundation for the prediction and evaluation of the residual bearing capacity of space grid structures with WHSJ.
