Our unicycle has simple mechanical structure. But unicycle's dynamical system is a very sensitive unstable nonlinear system. equations of motion for a simple unicycle robot were derived using Lagrage's method. In this paper, a human fuzzy influence control mechanism was established throught an inquiry into human riding a unicycle, and we developed a hybrid controller to control our unicycle robot. This proposed hybrid controller is consisted with a pure PD and two fuzzy gain scheduled controllers and a direct fuzzy logic controller. Computer simulation results show that our hybrid controller has robust control performnance to unstable nnonlinear unicycle robot system.

The present study examined 469 commercially available fermented alcoholic beverages (FABs), including beer (draft, microbrewed, and pasteurized), fruit wine (grape and others), refined rice wine, and yakju (raw and pasteurized). Samples were screened for Escherichia coli and eight foodborne pathogens (Bacillus cereus, Campylobacter jejuni, Clostridium perfringens, Escherichia coli O157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, and Yersinia enterocolitica), and the aerobic plate count, lactic acid bacteria, acetic acid bacteria, fungi, and total coliforms were also enumerated. Microbrewed beer contained the highest number of microorganisms (average aerobic plate count, 3.5; lactic acid bacteria, 2.1; acetic acid bacteria, 2.0; and fungi, 3.6 log CFU/ml), followed by draft beer and yakju (P < 0.05), whereas the other FABs contained <25 CFU/25 ml microorganisms. Unexpectedly, neither microbial diversity nor microbial count correlated with the alcohol content (4.7 to 14.1%) or pH (3.4 to 4.2) of the product. Despite the harsh conditions, coliforms (detected in 23.8% of microbrewed beer samples) and B. cereus (detected in all FABs) were present in some products. B. cereus was detected most frequently in microbrewed beer (54.8% of samples) and nonpasteurized yakju (50.0%), followed by pasteurized yakju (28.8%), refined rice wine (25.0%), other fruit wines (12.3%), grape wine (8.6%), draft beer (5.6%), and pasteurized beer (2.2%) (P < 0.05). The finding that spore-forming B. cereus and coliform bacteria can survive the harsh conditions present in alcoholic beverages should be taken into account (alongside traditional quality indicators such as the presence of lactic acid-producing bacteria, acetic acid-producing bacteria, or both) when developing manufacturing systems and methods to prolong the shelf life of high-quality FAB products. New strategic quality management plans for various FABs are needed.

Background: Long-term therapy with doxorubicin is associated with a high incidenceof a cumulative and irreversible dilated cardiomyopathy, despite of its broad anti-neoplastic effectiveness. The goal of this study was to evaluate the cardioprotective effects and safety of seapolyphenol (polyphenol purifi ed from Ecklonia cava) against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in an animal rat model. Methods and Results: In total 21 rats including doxorubicin and control groups, baseline and 6 weeks follow up echocardiography were practiced. Left ventricular ejection fraction signifi cantly decreased and the left ventricular end diastolic/systolic dimension and LV mass index signifi cantly increased in single doxorubicin group compared to seapolynol plus doxorubicin group. Also, electron microscopic fi nding showed less impaired myofi ber and mitochondria in seapolynol plus doxorubicin group than in single doxorubicin group. Conclusions: Our data showed that seapolynol had cardioprotective effects against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in an animal rat model with the evidence of electron microscopic fi nding in addition to echocardiographic results.

Gelidium (G.) elegans is a red alga inhabiting intertidal areas of North East Asia. We examined anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects of G. elegans, depending on drying and extraction conditions, by determining reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) in 3T3-L1 and RAW 264.7 cells. Extraction yields of samples using hot air drying (HD) and far-infrared ray drying (FID) were significantly higher than those using natural air drying (ND). The 70% ethanol extracts showed the highest total phenol and flavonoid contents compared to other extracts (0, 30, and 50% ethanol) under tested drying conditions. The scavenging activity on 2,2-diphenyl- 1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and nitrite correlated with total phenol or flavonoid content in the extracts. The greatest DPPH scavenging effect was observed in 70% ethanol extract from FID and HD conditions. The production of ROS and NO in 3T3-L1 and macrophage cells greatly decreased with the 70% ethanol extraction derived from FID. This study suggests that 70% ethanol extraction of G. elegans dried by FID is the most optimal condition to obtain efficiently antioxidant compounds of G. elegans.
