Striatal Dopamine Transporter Availability is Associated with Sleep Disturbance among Patients with Bipolar I Disorder: A Single-photon Emission Computed Tomography Study Using [99mTc] TRODAT-1

        Tsung-Hua Lu(Tsung-Hua Lu),Shih-Hsien Lin(Shih-Hsien Lin),Huai-Hsuan Tseng(Huai-Hsuan Tseng),Yen Kuang Yang(Yen Kuang Yang),Nan Tsing Chiu(Nan Tsing Chiu),Po See Chen(Po See Chen) 대한정신약물학회 2022 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.20 No.4

Objective: Bipolar disorder (BD) is characterized by the poor sleep quality. Whether the striatal dopamine transporter (DAT) availability is related to sleep quality among patients with BD is unclear. Methods: Fifty-three euthymic patients with BD (24 BD-I and 29 BD-II) and sixty-eight healthy controls were enrolled. The Chinese Version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used, and the availability of DAT was assessed by single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) using [99mTc] TRODAT-1. Results: The sleep disturbance component of the PSQI was significantly associated with the level of DAT availability among patients with BD. Conclusion: The striatal dopaminergic activity that contributes to resilience to adversity was associated with sleep pattern among patients with BD.

Active mass driver control system for suppressing wind-induced vibration of the Canton Tower

        Huai-bing Xu,Jin-ping Ou,Chun-wei Zhang,Hui Li,Ping Tan,Fu-lin Zhou 국제구조공학회 2014 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.13 No.2

In order to suppress the wind-induced vibrations of the Canton Tower, a pair of active mass river (AMD) systems has been installed on the top of the main structure. The structural principal directions n which the bending modes of the structure are uncoupled are proposed and verified based on the rthogonal projection approach. For the vibration control design in the principal X direction, the simplified odel of the structure is developed based on the finite element model and modified according to the field measurements under wind excitations. The AMD system driven by permanent magnet synchronous linear otors are adopted. The dynamical models of the AMD subsystems are determined according to the pen-loop test results by using nonlinear least square fitting method. The continuous variable gain feedback VGF) control strategy is adopted to make the AMD system adaptive to the variation in the intensity of wind excitations. Finally, the field tests of free vibration control are carried out. The field test results of AMD control show that the damping ratio of the first vibration mode increases up to 11 times of the original value without control.

Efficient synthesis of bio-monomer 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid from concentrated 5-hydroxymethylfurfural or fructose in DMSO/H2O mixed solvent

        Huai Liu,Xuejuan Cao,Ting Wang,Junnan Wei,Xing Tang,Xianhai Zeng,Yong Sun,Tingzhou Lei,Shijie Liu,Lu Lin 한국공업화학회 2019 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.77 No.-

The conversion of concentrated 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) or fructose to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA), a renewable alternative to petroleum-derived terephthalate acid, is highly desirable butchallenging for FDCA production in an industrial scale. In this contribution, DMSO/H2O mixture wasdemonstrated as an effective medium for the production of FDCA from high concentration of HMF orfructose. For example, FDCA yield up to 93% was achieved at 10 wt% HMF concentration in DMSO/H2Oover commercially available Ru/C (2 equiv. NaHCO3, 130 C, 4 MPa O2 and 12 h). Furthermore, an overallFDCA yield of 65% was achieved from concentrated fructose (19 wt%) through a facile two-step process. Notably, it is so far the highest HMF or fructose concentration employed for FDCA formation. As comparedto pure water or DMSO, DMSO/H2O mixed system is able to stabilize HMF in an alkaline environment, which allows the efficient oxidation of HMF at high concentrations.

Fluctuating wind field analysis based on random Fourier spectrum for wind induced response of high-rise structures

        Li Lin,A.H.S. Ang,Dan-dan Xia,Hai-tao Hu,Huai-feng Wang,Fu-qiang He 국제구조공학회 2017 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.63 No.6

An accurate calculation of the stochastic wind field is the foundation for analyzing wind-induced structure response and reliability. In this research, the spatial correlation of structural wind field was considered based on the time domain method. A method for calculating the stochastic wind field based on cross stochastic Fourier spectrum was proposed. A flowchart of the proposed methodology is also presented in this study to represent the algorithm and workflow. Along with the analysis of regional wind speed distribution, the wind speed time history sample was calculated, and the efficiency can therefore be verified. Results show that the proposed method and programs could provide an efficient simulation for the wind-induced structure response analysis, and help determine the related parameters easily.

Genetic Diversity of a Novel Oil Crop, Camellia brevistyla, Revealed by ISSR DNA Markers

        Mong-Huai Su,Te-Hua Hsu,Chun-Neng Wang,Kuan-Hung Lin,Ming-Chang Chiang,Ren-Dong Kang,Khiem M. Nguyen,Hoang Nguyen 한국원예학회 2017 원예과학기술지 Vol.35 No.5

Camellia brevistyla plants are used as food oil in Taiwan. To provide a method for identifying germplasm and assessing the genetic diversity of C. brevistyla , 102 individuals were collected from 29 populations in 11 counties throughout the main island of Taiwan. Inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) DNA markers were analyzed and a total of 176 bands were amplified. Of these, 175 bands were found to be polymorphic in these populations. Genetic similarities among populations ranged between 34.1-95.1%. Cluster analysis revealed seven groups of populations plus one outlier (C. kissii ). Five individuals from two populations in the southern region were grouped into cluster V, and six populations from both regions were grouped into cluster VII. The remaining populations from the northern region were separated into different clusters from V and VII. Results of an analysis of molecular variance indicated that the variation within populations (75%) was predominantly greater than variations among counties (18%) and among regions (7%). Overall, the gene flow (Nm = 0.509) estimated from genetic differentiation (Gst = 0.534) suggested that gene flow among regions was limited. Higher genetic diversity (H = 0.317), Shannon’s index (I = 0.477), and gene flow (Nm = 0.538) of populations were found in the northern region compared to the southern region. The DNA sequences of C. brevistyla amplified by two oil-biosynthesis genes showed 99-100% homology with those of C. oleifera. Camellia brevistyla populations are highly differentiated and can serve as a basis for the food oil industry as a germplasm resource.

Sensitivity of surface roughness to flexible polishing parameters of abrasive cloth wheel and their optimal intervals

Wenbo Huai,Yaoyao Shi,Hong Tang,Xiaojun Lin 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.2

High-speed rotating abrasive cloth wheel is a highly flexible material that can be used to polish aviation engine blades. In this study, sensitivity and relative sensitivity to processing parameters were described on the basis of an empirical model of surface roughness to control the polishing of rough surfaces with abrasive cloth wheels. A mathematical model of the sensitivity and relative sensitivity of surface roughness to processing parameters was also established on the basis of an orthogonal test of polishing TC4 blade workpieces by utilizing abrasive cloth wheels. The sensitivity of the analytical method for processing parameter interval was examined, and the division principle and approach for the stable and unstable ranges of processing parameters were proposed. The influence curve of polishing parameters on surface roughness was obtained by combining the analyzed ranges in the orthogonal test. The optimization of processing parameter interval was also presented to identify the optimal intervals of surface-roughness-oriented polishing parameters of abrasive cloth wheels. The polishing test based on an aviation engine blade confirmed that the optimal intervals of the parameters were reliable. This research provides a basis for theoretical studies and tests to evaluate blade polishing technique with abrasive cloth wheels and surface roughness control.

An adaptive flexible polishing path programming method of the blisk blade using elastic grinding tools

Wenbo Huai,Yaoyao Shi,Hong Tang,Xiaojun Lin 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.7

As for blisk blade profile polishing, the “five-axis numerical control + flexible grinding head + elastic grinding tool” polishing process equipment has advantages of high precision, little interference, good adaptivity, etc.; in order that the elastic grinding tool (abrasive cloth wheel) can effectively fit in with the blade profile in the polishing process and polishing quality and efficiency can be improved, a polishing path programming method of the elastic grinding tool was studied, feed mode of the elastic grinding tool and parametric method of the blade profile were proposed, and calculation methods of offset surface, polishing spacing, polishing step size and cutter-axis vector were given; this polishing path programming method makes it possible for the flexible spindle mechanism keeps a reasonable pose during the polishing process so that the elastic grinding tool can not only effectively fit in with the blade profile but also the polishing force direction of the elastic grinding tool is basically identical with normal vector direction of the polishing point; the polishing test results indicate that: After polishing, blade surface roughness is smaller than 0.4 µm and blade profile tolerance is within the tolerance zone, thus satisfying technical requirements and indicating that the technology proposed in this paper can satisfy blisk blade profile polishing requirements.

On Diagonal Loading for Robust Adaptive Beamforming Based on Worst-Case Performance Optimization

        Jing-ran Lin,Qi-cong Peng,Huai-zong Shao 한국전자통신연구원 2007 ETRI Journal Vol.29 No.1

Robust adaptive beamforming based on worst-case performance optimization is investigated in this paper. It improves robustness against steering vector mismatches by the approach of diagonal loading. A closed-form solution to optimal loading is derived after some approximations. Besides reducing the computational complexity, it shows how different factors affect the optimal loading. Based on this solution, a performance analysis of the beamformer is carried out. As a consequence, approximated closed-form expressions of the source-of-interest power estimation and the output signalto- interference-plus-noise ratio are presented in order to predict its performance. Numerical examples show that the proposed closed-form expressions are very close to their actual values.

      • Differential Expression of MMAC/PTEN in Glioblastoma Multiforme : Relationship to Localization and Prognosis

        Sano, Tetsuro,Lin, Huai,Chen, Xiashan,Langford, Lauren A.,Bondy, Dimpy Koul Melissa L.,Hess, Kenneth R.,Myers, Jeffery N.,Hong, Yong-Kil,Yung, W.K. Alfred,Steck, Peter A. 가톨릭대학교 2000 Bulletin of The Catholic Research Institutes of Me Vol.28 No.-

MMAC/PTEN, a tumor suppressor gene located on chromosome 10q, has recently been shown to act as a phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-triphosphate phosphatase and to modulate cell growth and apoptosis. Somatic mutations of MMAC/PTEN have been reported in a number of human cancers, especially in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), although the number of identified mutations (10-35%) is significantly lower than the frequency of LOH affecting the MMAC/PTEN locus in the specimens (75-95%). To further investigate the possible alterations that may affect MMAC/PTEN, we examined the expression of the gene by reverse transcription-PCR in a series of gliomas. A significant difference (P<0.001) was observed between the expression of MMAC/PTEN in GBMs versus lower grades of gliomas, thus mimicking the difference in allelic deletion associated with the locus in these tumors. Furthermore, Kaplan-Meier survival plots, adjusted for age and tumor grade, showed a significantly better prognosis for patients whose tumors expressed high level of MMAC/PTEN. Additionally, immunostaining of GBMs revealed little or no MMAC/PTEN expression in about two-thirds of the tumors, whereas the other approximately one-third of tumors had significantly higher levels of expression. However, in about two-thirds of the gigh-expressing specimens, a heterogeneous pattern of expression was observed, indicating that certain cells within the tumor failed to express MMAC/PTEN. The combination of these results suggest that, in addition to molecular alterations affecting the gene, altered expression of MMAC/PTEN may play a significant role in the progression of GBM and patient outcome.
