In this paper, we deal with the problem of meromorphic functions that have three weighted sharing values, and obtain some uniqueness theorems which improve those given by N. Terglane, Hong-Xun Yi & Xiao-Min Li, and others. Some examples are provided to show that the results in this paper are best possible.

This paper discusses the problem of uniqueness of meromorphic functions, ignoring value-points of high multiplicity. The authors prove that if f is a nonconstant meromorphic function with 4σ(0) +3(k+2)Θ(∞) > 3k+9, then f can be determined uniquely by either the sets E_(1))(a₁) and E_(1))(a₂) or E^((k))_(1))(b₁) and E^((k))_(1))(b₂), where a₁, a₂, b₁and b₂are finite nonzero complex numbers such that a²₁≠ a²₂and b²₁≠ b²₂. This improve some theorems given by K. L. Hiong, L. Yang, H. C. Xie, H. X. Yi and other authors. Examples are provided to show that the results in this paper are sharp.

<P>We have established in culture a spontaneously immortalized bovine embryonic fibroblast (BEF) cell line that has lost p53 and p16(INK4a) functions. MyoD is a muscle-specific regulator capable of inducing myogenesis in a number of cell types. When the BEF cells were transduced with MyoD they differentiated efficiently to desmin-positive myofibers in the presence of 2% horse serum and 1.7 nM insulin. The myogenic differentiation of this cell line was more rapid and obvious than that of C2C12 cells, as judged by morphological changes and expression of various muscle regulatory factors. To confirm that lack of the p53 and p16(INK4a) pathway does not prevent MyoD-mediated myogenesis, we established a cell line transformed with SV40LT (BEFV) and introduced MyoD into it. In the presence of 2% horse serum and 1.7 nM insulin, the MyoD-transduced BEFV cells differentiated like the MyoD-transduced BEFS cells, and displayed a similar pattern of expression of muscle regulatory proteins. Taken together, our results indicate that MyoD overexpression overcomes the defect in muscle differentiation associated with immortalization and cell transformation caused by the loss of p53 and Rb functions.</P>

Background: To evaluate the diagnostic utility of conventional ultrasonography and real time ultrasound elastography in differentiating degenerating cystic thyroid nodules mimicking malignancy from papillary thyroid carcinoma. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed conventional ultrasonographic and elastographic characteristics of 19 degenerating cystic thyroid nodules mimicking malignancy in 19 patients, with 30 surgically confirmed PTCs as controls. Based on size, the nodules had been grouped into less than 10mm (group A) and greater than 10 mm (group B). We evaluated conventional parameters and elasticity pattern. Color-scaled elastograms were graded as to stiffness of nodules using an elasticity pattern from I (soft) to IV (stiff). Results: Degenerating cystic thyroid nodules were similar to PTCs in conventional ultrasonographic findings, but the former frequently showed oval to round in shape (group A, 69.2% vs 18.8%, P=0.017; group B, 66.7% vs 7.14%, P=0.017) and punctuate hyperechoic foci (group A, 61.5% vs 0, P<0.001; group B, 50% vs 0, P<0.001). On real time ultrasound elastography, 7 of 13 degenerating cystic thyroid nodules in group A were pattern I, 5 were pattern II, 1 was pattern III. One degenerating cystic thyroid nodule in group B was pattern II, 5 were pattern III. The area under the curve for elastography was 0.98 in group A (sensitivity 92.3%, specificity 100%, P = 0.002), and 0.88 in group B (sensitivity 16.7%, specificity 100%, P = 0.014). Conclusions: As a dependable imaging technique, elastography helps increase the performance in differential diagnosis of degenerating cystic thyroid nodule and malignancy.
Uniqueness of Meromorphic Functions and a Question of Gross

In this paper, we deal with the uniqueness of meromorphic functions concerning one question of Gross (see [5, Question 6]), and obtain some results that are improvements of that of former authors. Moreover, the example shows that the result is sharp.
LMI Stability Criterion with Less Variables for Time-delay Systems

Slack variables approach is an important technique for tackling the delay-dependent stability problem for systems with time-varying delay. In this paper, a new delay-dependent stability criterion is presented without introducing any slack variable. The technique is based on a simply integral inequal-ity. The result is shown to be equivalent to some existing ones but includes the least number of vari-ables. Thus, redundant selection and computation can be avoided so that the computational burden can be largely reduced. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed stabil-ity conditions.
