Backgrounds/Aims: The purpose of this retrospective study was to determine the association between prognostic nutritional index (PNI) and recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma after a curative resection. Methods: Between 2007 to 2019, 130 patients who underwent curative hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma were enrolled. PNI was calculated. Its cutoff value was identified through receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. According to PNI, patients were divided into two groups. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify independent risk factors for recurrence. Results: The cutoff value of PNI was 52. In univariate analysis, alcoholic liver cirrhosis (p = 0.041), protein induced by vitamin K antagonist-II ≥ 200 (p = 0.012), indocyanine green retention test (ICG R15) >10% (p = 0.001), estimated blood loss ≥ 800 mL (p = 0.037), tumor size (p = 0.001), microvascular invasion (p = 0.023), T-stage (p = 0.001), and PNI < 52 (p = 0.001) were significant factors affecting the recurrence. In multivariate analysis, alcoholic liver cirrhosis (p = 0.046), ICG R15 >10% (p = 0.025), T-stage (p = 0.003), and PNI < 52 (p = 0.046) were independent prognostic factors for disease-free survival. Conclusions: PNI, a nutritional and immunologic factor, is an independent prognostic factor that can predict the recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients undergoing a curative resection.

Purpose: The Armed Forces Nursing Academy is a special-purpose university that trains nursing officers and has a unique curriculum. In Particular, regarding the English curriculum, KAFNA has TOEIC-centered general Eng-lish education and offers practical English education for military nursing. This study aimed to improve the effec-tiveness of English education at the Armed Forces Nursing Academy. The researcher identified the relationship between cadets' TOEIC scores and military nursing practical English grades, and this study, based on the rela-tionship, proposed a developmental plan for the English curriculum. Method: In this study, to confirm the relationship between general English proficiency and military nursing English skill, this study analyzed 4years of accumulated TOEIC scores and military nursing practical English grades of 298 cadets, including graduates 60th ~ 63rd year of KAFNA to find a relationship. First, the correlation between TOEIC test scores and military nursing practical English grades was examined, and a T-test was used to determine whether there were differences in military nursing English proficiency according to TOEIC test scores. Results: As a result of examining TOEIC scores and military nursing practical English grades of 298 cadets in four years, the 60th year showed a moderate correlation between the TOEIC score and the military nursing Eng-lish grade, and the 61st~63th year showed a weak correlation. Furthermore, in the case of the 60th~62th year, it was found that there was a difference in the military nursing English score according to the TOEIC score, but there was no difference in the 63rd grade. Conclusion: It seemed that TOEIC scores were only partially related to military nursing practical English grades. Therefore, to communicate in the situation of military nursing practice, which has a specialized purpose, it is necessary to increase the proportion of military nursing practice English learning. In addition, complementary methods like increasing offered credits or motivating cadets should provide so that they can take an interest in learning English for military nursing practice.

<P>On page 629, Hojeong Yu, Zhenan Bao, and Joon Hak Oh report single‐crystalline nanowire organic phototransistors (NW‐OPTs) fabricated using an n‐channel organic semiconductor, <I>N</I>,<I>N</I>′‐bis(2‐phenylethyl)‐perylene‐3,4:9,10‐tetracarboxylic diimide. Highly sensitive and reproducible photoresponses are observed from the NW‐OPTs and photogenerated charge carrier behavior is quantitatively investigated. The findings highlight single‐crystalline NW‐OPTs as an alternative to conventional thin‐film‐type photodiodes and could pave the way for optoelectronic device miniaturization. </P>

Background: Interactions between immune cells and tumor cells play an important role in tumor progression. Objectives: We evaluated patterns of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and programmed death-1 (PD-1) expression in acral and non-acral cutaneous melanoma, and determined their effects on clinicopathological characteristics and biologic responses. Methods: We identified 122 cases of cutaneous melanoma, of which 39 were cases of non-nail unit acral melanoma, 35 were cases of nail unit melanoma and 48 were cases of non-acral melanoma. Clinicopathological features and survival outcomes were analyzed according to the scores for TILs and PD-1 expression in intra- and peritumoral compartments. Results: The frequency of intratumoral TILs and PD-1 expression were lower in nail unit melanoma than in the other two subtypes. The density of peritumoral PD-1 was significantly higher in non-nail unit acral melanoma. In nail unit melanoma and non-acral melanoma, a low density of intratumoral TILs and PD-1 was associated with a deeper Breslow thickness and the presence of a vertical growth phase. In non-nail unit acral melanoma, a high density of peritumoral TILs and PD-1 was associated with a shallower Breslow thickness and less frequent extracutaneous dissemination. Conclusion: This study suggests that the effects of PD-1+TILs on biological activity differ according to the clinical subtypes of cutaneous melanoma.
Does Credit Transfer Reduce Emission Transfer? : Real Option Game Perspectives

일방향 국경이동 오염물질(unidirectional transfrontier pollutant)에 노출되어 있는 2국가간 환경투자 유인을 실물옵션 게임을 이용하여 분석한다. 모형에서 상정한 국경이동 오염물질은 산성비와 같이 국지적 오염물질로서 그 원인오염물질은 전역적인 지구온실가스와 연관성을 갖는다. 산성비 게임과 관련한 기존 문헌이 주장하는 피해자지불원칙(Victim Pays Principle) 보다는, 오염방지노력의 크레딧을 인정하는 가운데 이루어지는 2국가의 공동투자가 환경투자의 유인을 보다 제고시킬 수 있으며, 후생측면에서도 파레토 개선전략임을 보여준다. 2국가간 환경투자를 위한 협조 및 비협조게임 모형을 제시하되 오염피해함수의 불확실성을 고려함으로써, 확정적 모형을 하나의 특수한 경우로 해석한다. 아울러 협조적 게임 하에서는 오염원인국가의 환경투자 유인 역시 개선됨으로써 양 국가의 환경투자를 촉진시킬 수 있음을 보여준다. 모형의 결과가 함축하는 바는 다음과 같다. 화석연료의 소비과정에서 발생하는 오염물질을 감축하려는 노력은 온실가스뿐만 아니라 SO2와 같은 산성비의 원인물질도 저감시킨다는 점에서 핀란드와 에스토니아간에는 최근에 공동이행(JI) 및 이와 관련한 환경투자가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 이는 과거 피해자지불원칙 하에 북유럽 국가가 동유럽으로부터 이동하는 산성비 원인물질을 저감하고자 하는 노력과는 비교되는 전략으로서 양국가의 이해관계를 만족시킨다. 이러한 노력은 향후 동북아시아 지역에서 현안이 되고 있는 산성비 및 황사문제에도 시사하는 바가 크다고 하겠다.
A Study on Compatibility between LTE and WLAN System for Mobile Satellite Wireless Package System

In this paper, we analyzed the adjacent channel interference of the LTE band 40 defined by 3GPP on the WLAN system based on the Monte-Carlo method, and found the guard band required for compatibility between the two systems. This study have a difference compared to the previous studies about cell radius was determined using Extended Hata Model considering practical environment, interference protection distance related to guard band, and the spectrum emission mask improvement effect for minimizing the interference. Simulation results, for no channel interference compatibility of LTE and WLAN for mobile satellite wireless package system, we can find the need 15MHz guard band at specified spectrum emission mask and 10MHz guard band at assumed spectrum emission mask.
