Heme oxygenase (HO-1) catalyzes heme to carbon monoxide (CO), biliverdin/bilirubin, and iron and is known to prevent the pathogenesis of several human diseases. We assessed the beneficial effect of heme degradation products on osteoclastogenesis induced by receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL). Treatment of RAW264.7 cells with CORM-2 (a CO donor) and bilirubin, but not with iron, decreased RANKLinduced osteoclastogenesis, with CORM-2 having a more potent anti-osteogenic effect. CORM-2 also inhibited RANKLinduced osteoclastogenesis and osteoclastic resorption activity in marrow-derived macrophages. Treatment with hemin, a HO-1 inducer, strongly inhibited RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis in wild-type macrophages, but was ineffective in HO-1<sup>+/- </sup>cells. CORM-2 reduced RANKL-induced NFATc1 expression by inhibiting IKK-dependent NF-κB activation and reactive oxygen species production. These results suggest that CO potently inhibits RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis by inhibiting redox-sensitive NF-κB-mediated NFATc1 expression. Our findings indicate that HO-1/CO can act as an antiresorption agent and reduce bone loss by blocking osteoclast differentiation. [BMB Reports 2017; 50(2): 103-108]

<P>Transfection with either hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) or heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) gene can induce neovascularization in ischemic tissues. Although expression of transfected HIF-1α gene occurs rapidly, the expressed HIF-1α protein degrades quickly, limiting its therapeutic efficacy. Meanwhile, expressed HO-1 protein does not rapidly undergo degradation, but gene expression occurs a couple of days after transfection, resulting in apoptosis and a delay in angiogenesis in ischemic tissues at the incipient period of HO-1 gene transfection. We hypothesize that combined delivery of HIF-1α and HO-1 gene will enhance antiapoptosis and neovascularization in ischemic tissue compared with HIF-1α or HO-1 single-gene therapy. To test this hypothesis, ischemic mouse hindlimbs were treated with HIF-1α and/or HO-1 gene therapy. The combined gene therapy proved superior to both single-gene therapies, resulting in rapid expression of HIF-1α gene and long-term maintenance of expressed HO-1 protein. The apoptosis in the ischemic region was significantly less, and angiogenic growth factor secretion and angiogenesis were greater in the combined gene therapy than in either of the single-gene therapies. Our results suggest that a combined gene therapy of HIF-1α and HO-1 enhances the transfection of both genes and improves angiogenesis compared with either single-gene therapy.</P>

Toxic hepatitis has been reported as a major cause of acute hepatitis, but its potential induction by herbal remedies and/or health foods is usually neglected. We experienced a case of toxic hepatitis associated with Polygoni multiflori, a Chinese herb commonly known as Ho-Shou-Wu. A 54-year-old woman consumed Ho-Shou-Wu for 1 month, after which she experienced fatigue and overall weakness. A diagnosis of toxic hepatitis was made based on her clinical history, the findings for viral markers and other laboratory data, and ultrasonography. Her condition improved considerably after she stopped taking Ho-Shou-Wu. However, she resumed taking Ho-Shou-Wu immediately after discharge from hospital, which aggravated her symptoms and liver function. She was immediately readmitted and stopped taking Ho-Shou-Wu. Her relapse into hepatitis immediate after resuming consumption of the herb is strongly indicative of the validity of Koch`s postulate in this case.

The faith for Koma is base of korean education about home and school. Koma faith is originated from Dangun mythology. Diachronically speaking, Koma faith has succeeded to Hongi- kingan(弘益人間). Koma has become the mother of earth maternity. 26 At the same time earth maternity is the resource of korean home education. Each korean's home performs religious service for his ancestor every Hangawi. Hongikingan ideology has succeeded to Innaecheon(人乃天). It means worship about heaven and human. Basically human is equal before God. Everybody has same right without partiality. In every korean's mind everybody has affection for his own parents, especially for his mother. So korean should be an obedient child at parent's death day. The symbol of obedient act in korean history is Simcheong(沈淸). She is actress of korean opera 'Simcheongga'. Conclusion is as follows. 1. Koma is mother today. the dream of koma and her son, Dangun is Hongikingan. mother is foundation of home education. Korean's home education is originated from Koma shamanism. That is heo(孝) which means the greatest value for korean. 2. We should intensify the connection of home and school. regarding to Hyo culture. 3. It is hopeful that Hyo culture should be independent subject in both school and alternative course. Especially speaking, social status for Hyodo(孝道) must establish systematic scheme. In future we korean have to develope Hyo(孝) culture as the root of social and home education.

Theoretical analysis, design and evaluation of a supersonic cold-flow system were conducted. It is designed to study of jet-vane for Thust Vector Control system, but a design process is similar general that of supersonic cold-flow system. The nozzle for this system was designed same exit Mach number as that of real rocket motor, because the jet boundary of designed nozzle approximated to real jet boundary very closely. The working gas is air exit Mach No. is 2.88, and nozzle chamber volume is 1.5ℓ. From the result, proper test time is about 0.3 seconds, low pressure chamber pressure and the measured axial thrust are appeared to 83% and 83.7% of the theoretical data respectively. It is due to pressure loss in sudden divergent-convergent section.

We selected 17 kinds required experimental subjects according to analysis of content of the experiment in the 7 sorts of physics textbook being used at the high school, and made the assessment's standard table of the group and the individual. And we used those subjects as the method of assessment in order to increase reasonably the accomplishment of learning goal. As the result of that, experimenting behaviors turned into more active and the role of individual was made concrete. Therefore students had more interest in the experiment. Consequentely, students understood better not only the learning of the experiment but also the contents of the textbooks through the comprehension of the learning of the experiment and the improvement of ability of research.
