      • 肉鷄飼育에 있어서 外國鷄種과 國內改良 交雜種과의 經濟性 分析

        The experiment was conducted to compare economic performance at 8 weeks of age on 9 breeds. Three locally developed breeds were compared with three of existing imported breeds and three of newly imported breeds. Four hundred chicks of each breed was used in this experiment. The results obtained are as follows: 1.There was no significant difference in viability between local and imported broiler breeds. 2.High mortality was showed due to the Infection of staphylococosis and peritionitis which accounted for 40.3% of total occurrence. It was found that chicks of newly imported breeds were more resistant to these types of infections than other breeds. 3.Body weight at 8 weeks of age of local and, existing and newly imported breeds were 1676.93g, 1709.92g and 1755.69g. respectively. There was no difference in body weight gain among 3 groups during the first 4 weeks but difference was observed in body weight gain during 5-6 weeks of age between local and imported breeds. Therefore, it may be desirable to select the local broiler breeds on the basis of body weight at 6 weeks of age. 4.The feed requirement per 1 kg body weight gain of local and, existing and newly imported breeds were 2.59, 2.55 and 2.49, respectively. The feed conversion rate of newly imported breeds was superior to other breeds. 5.The highest net income at 8 weeks of age was obtained by newly imported breeds that rendered 402.26 Won per bird.

      • 족삼리 침자극의 복통 억제기전 연구

        Objective : Acupuncture has been used for treatment of numerous disorders, especially for pain control in Oriental Medicine. However, the mechanism of pain control by acupuncture was not clear until now. This study was performed to prove analgesic mechanism of acupuncture treatment at acupoint ST_(36) by observing the changes of abdominal pain and c-Fos expression in the thalamus. Methods : Abdominal pain was induced by acetic acid, and the changes of writhing reflex after acupuncture treatment an ST_(36) and non-acupoints were measured. c-Fos immunohistochemistry was also performed to study the changes of the neuronal activity in the thalamus. Results : The writhing reflex decrease significantly after acupuncturing at ST_(36) compared with control group(p<0.05). The changes of the writhing reflex by non-acupoint acupuncture treatment also showed significant decrease compared with control group(p<0.05). c-Fos expression in the thalamus, especially periventricular part was significantly decreased after acupuncturing at ST_(36) compared with control groups(p<0.05). Conclusion : This study shows that the acupuncture has the analgesic effect in the abdominal pain induced by acetic acid and the thalamus might be a important area for this mechanism.

      • 인체에서 방사되는 생물광자(生物光子)에 대한 소고

        Objectives : The purpose of this study is to review research papers published by Korean research groups on biophoton of human beings based on experiment subject and methodology. Methods : In order to review human biophoton research executed in Korea, all the papers published in Korean and international journals by Korean research groups were selected. Several key foreign papers were also reviewed for clarification of this study. Based on experiment subjects, experiment methodology, and interpretation of experiment results were analyzed. On each experiment, its original interpretation was directly quoted. Issues on the experiment methodology and interpretation were expressed at the end of each subject. Results and Conclusions : We found that experiments on human biophoton were compelling. However it seemed that mom experiments, especially on their sample sizes, ate needed to demonstrate its clinical application. Interpretations based on Korean traditional medicine also need to be elaborated more. In order to do accomplish clinical application of biophoton, interdisciplinary works are required. Some suggestions on biophoton experiments were made.

      • 低出力레이저 침 치료에 관한 國內 論文 分析 : 레이저 器機 中心 mainly focused on laser apparatus

        Objective: The purpose of this study is to review research paper on low level laser therapy (LLLT) and to improve the knowledge of LLLT field. Methods: For introduction, laser characteristics, including, wavelength, medium, beam size, power, and unit power were explained. In order to understand LLLT, tissue optics and light-biomatter interaction were briefly mentioned. We reciewed 21 Korean papers on laser acupuncture and LLLT on the viewpoint of laser apparatus. Results and Conclusion: We found that the description of laser apparatus employed for LLLT experiments were not fully written. Laser wavelength and power which are the most crucial parameters, were omitted in several papers. No paper had information on beam size. In order to have high efficacy, laser should be used with proper laser parameters. Conditions of irradiation area or acupoints should be considered too. Some future technology on laser acupuncture were mentioned.

        Sarracenia purpurea에서 빛 및 질소 의존성 anthocyanin 생합성

        식충식물(carnivorous plant)인 Sarracenia purpurea는 생육에 있어 매우 높은 수준의 광량을 필요로 하며 색, 과즙 등으로 벌레를 유인하여 영양분을 흡수하는 것으로 알려져 있다. S. purpurea는 약한 빛 조건에서 녹색을 띄었으며 강한 빛 조건에서는 잎을 포함한 포충낭 전체가 검붉은 색으로 변화하였다. 이와 같은 색의 변화는 질소비료를 첨가하였을 때에 관찰되지 않았다. S. purpurea를 붉게 물들이는 색소는 안토시아닌(anthocyanin)인 것으로 보고된 바가 있다. 본 연구에서는 빛의 세기와 질소 첨가에 따른 안토시아닌의 함량과 생합성 관련 유전자의 발현 특성을 분석하였다. 240 μmol m<SUP>-2</SUP> s<SUP>-1</SUP>의 강한 빛 조건에서의 안토시아닌 함량은 40 μmol m<SUP>-2</SUP> s<SUP>-1</SUP>의 약한 빛에서 보다 6.15배 높았으며, 0.8% 요소 비료로 질소를 첨가하였을 때에는 약한 빛 조건과 큰 차이가 없었다. 안토시아닌의 초기 생합성 과정에 관여하는 CHALCONE SYNTHASE (CHS) 유전자는 강한 빛에서 발현이 증가하였고 질소 양분을 첨가하였을 때에 감소하였다. 이상의 결과는 빛과 토양의 환경 변화가 S. purpurea의 안토시아닌의 함량을 조절한다는 것을 보여주고 있다. Sarracenia purpurea as a carnivorous plant in the family Sarraceniaceae is known to require strong light for its growth and to absorb nutrients from the decomposed molecules of insects that are attracted by color, sweet juice, and the like. S. purpurea grew greenish in whole body under weak light conditions, while the whole of the insectivorous sac including leaves, is changed to dark red under strong light conditions. The phenomenon of reddish S. purpurea is thought to be related to the flavonoid pigment anthocyanin. Interestingly, the color change was not observed when S. purpurea was grown in a growth condition with abundant nitrogen fertilizer. The expression levels of anthocyanin contents and biosynthesis-related genes were strongly correlated with light intensity and nitrogen fertilizer. The anthocyanin content in the strong light condition (240 μmol m<SUP>-2</SUP> s<SUP>-1</SUP>) was 6.15 times higher than that in the weak light (40 μmol m<SUP>-2</SUP> s<SUP>-1</SUP>). In contrast, the anthocyanin contents were not significantly changed when 0.8% urea solution was supplied as nitrogen fertilizer. Consistently, CHALCONE SYNTHASE (CHS) gene was up-regulated by strong light and down-regulated by nitrogen fertilizer. These results suggest that the environmental changes of light and nitrogen in soil regulate the anthocyanin content in S. purpurea.

        The Taming of "Color and Life": The Figuration of the City and Outlying Regions in Conan Doyle`s Detective Fiction

        This paper aims to examine the ideological conditions of Arthur Conan Doyle`s Sherlock Holmes fiction. My overall view is that Conan Doyle`s detective fiction is an extension of his literary goal to restore `the golden myth of England`, an imaginary ground for social unity and totality that stands opposed to the conflicting, non-unifying realities of late Victorian society. The important task of this essay is then to show how this ideological purpose directly informs the making of the detective narrative. However, this ideological formation of the genre proceeds not without some difficulties; it is often the case that troubling signs of social reality-say, the `unknowableness` of the urban masses including those who can be seen as the national Other (immigrants, ethnic minority, etc.)-seep into the writer`s escapist social vision, causing what can be seen as structural or generic instability in the narrative. This phenomenon of textual disturbance can be first sensed most suggestively in the waning of representational certainty in dealing with the urban everyday in his earlier stories. In their later counterparts, this representational crisis leads to the narrative`s gradual shift of its dominant setting from the city of London to outlying suburban regions and the countryside. My view is that this locational shift lends itself to effective narrative strategies in coping with such conflicting social elements. Attention is also given to the way this narrative management implicitly addresses issues concerning British identity such as race and public health.

        Reviews on the Cultivar Names of Korean Hibiscus (Rose of Sharon) in Korea

        우리나라 무궁화 품종 이름에 대한 자료를 찾아 정리하면서 수정하고 개선해야 할 사항을 발견하였으며 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫 번째, 1979년대와 1980년대에 명명한 무궁화 품종 중 외국의 품종 이름을 우리말로 개명하여 부르는 것들은 원래 이름으로 바꾸어 주어야 할 것이다. 두 번째, 2000년 이후 공공기관 외 회사, 개인 등이 신품종 등록을 할 수 있게 됨에 따라 매우 많은 품종들이 등록되고 있는데 기존 품종들과의 구별이 쉽지 않은 문제를 야기하고 있다. 세 번째, 일본 품종의 경우 일본식 한자로 명명되어 있는데 도입 이후 품종명을 한국식 한자로 발음하고 명명, 명찰을 부착하여 한국품종으로 오해 할 수 있기 때문에 이를 개선하기 위해서는 한국식 한자가 아닌 원래 일본 품종명으로 적고, 일본식 이름으로 불러 주어야 할 것이다. 네 번째, 우리나라 무궁화는 학명으로 Hibiscus syriacus 인데, H. syriacus와는 이종인 H. sino-syriacus(대륜목근), H. paramutabilis(노산부용), H. mutabilis(부용) 등과 교배한 후대 들을 무궁화(H. syriacus)로 통합하여 부르고 있으나 이는 종간 잡종으로 구분, H. x hybrida로 구분해서 한다. 마지막으로, 1968년부터 외국에서 도입된 무궁화가 265품종에 달하는데 이 들 중 동일한 이름으로 중복 도입된 품종이 많아 적절한 명명 관리가 필요하다. Moderate reviews have been performed on the cultivar names of rose of Sharon in Korea. It is recommended that some of the cultivar names should be changed or modified. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, the original name of cultivar should be used instead of the translated one from the foreign name on the cultivar between 1979 and 1980. Second, based on the Seed Industry Act in 2000, enrollment of new cultivars by individuals as well as companies and public institutions has increased. As a result, differentiating the ever-existing cultivars from the newly enrolled cultivars has become extremely difficult. Third, Korean pronunciation which is used for Japanese cultivars whose names are originally written in Chinese characters causes confusions. Accordingly, the original Japanese pronunciations as their names must be used so that people do not mistake them for Korean cultivars. Fourth, the scientific name of Korean rose of Sharon is Hibiscus syriacus. In many cases, interspecific hybrids between H. syriacus and H. sino-syriacs (Daeryukmokgeun), H. paramutabilis (Nosanbuyong) or H. mutabilis (Buyong) are commonly called as ‘Rose of Sharon’. Those interspecific hybrids must be in separate categories. Lastly, total number of cultivars which is introduced from foreign countries is currently up to 265. Overlapping of the introduced cultivars under different names creates another problem in the proper naming of the cultivars.
