Examfnation of 374 Korean students, 22 to 24 years of age performed for the estimation of oral hygiene condition and dontal caries prevalence with ageing. Oral hygiene condition was determined according to the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index outlined by Greene and vermilion and the dental cnories Prevalence and individual dental status were tabulated as the percent affected and average number of DMF Teeth. The results obtained from this study showed average 90.09 percent affected by dental caries for total subject and 6.39 DMF Teeth per person. An average of the Simplified Dral Hygiene Index obtained from total subject showed 3.42 per person. No correlation neith positive or negative could be demonstrated between oral hygiene condition and dental caries prevalence in this sample subject. This does not negate the necessity for further study of the relationship bet between dental caries prevalence and oral hygiene condition in persons of large sample subjects.

The wastewater dischaged from several major leather processing industries and the mixed influent wastewater in J leather complex were investigated for a year(1995. 1-1995. 12) in order to evaluate the fluctuation of pollutant loadings. Average wastewater qualities from the cattlehide processing were BOD 1,710㎎/ℓ and COD_(Mn), 1,821㎎/ℓ and those from the pigskin processing were BOD 4,868 ㎎/ℓ, COD 4,915 ㎎/ℓ and COD/BOD ratios were 1.06 and 1.01, respectively. In addition, average wastewater qualities from the fishskinprocessing were BOD 1,020 ㎎/ℓ, COD 376 ㎎/ℓ and those from the sheepskin processing were BOD 3,884 ㎎/ℓ, COD 2,202 ㎎/ℓ and COD/BOD ratios were 0.37 and 0.57, respectively. The Flow rate of 55% at leather industrial complex wastewater treatment plant was found to be on the range of 5,000㎥/day~6,500㎥ /day and the average mixed wastewater qualities were charcterized as BOD 2,679㎎/ℓ, COD 1,986㎎/ℓ, SS 4,288 ㎎/ℓ. The average BOD and COD loading were 14,614kg/day, 9,964kg/day, respectively. About 46% of daily BOD loading fell on the range of 14,000kg/day~l7,000kg/day and about 90% COD loading did on the range of 9.000kg/day~l1,000kg/day, which showed the most frequent range. And about 95% of total Suspendid Solid was found from 3,300 ㎎/ℓ~4,700 ㎎/ℓ.
제혁슬러지의 Vermicomposting에 關한 基礎硏究

The study on the ripening of leather waste sludge was performed to vemistabilize the sludge effectively using a laboratory scale darkened wood box reactor(10×10×20㎝). The acceptable feed conditions for earthworm of Eh, alkalinity were obtained in the 30th and 35th days, respectively. The value of pH was gradually decreased from 7.8 to 7.1 through the ripening time. The contents of heavy metals of the ripened sludge were estimated as lower levels compared to the other regulatory standards for compost. After the ripening time for 50days, the physio-chemical properties of the sludge were estimated as pH 7.1, water content 72%, redox potential 85 mV, electrolytic conductivity 2,620 ㎛hos/㎝ and alkalinity 450 ppm as CaCO??, respectively. From the above results, it was evaluated that leather waste sludge could be vermistablized effectively by earthworms, when the sludge was ripened during 50days.

In biological treatment with AB-Process At A-step : as treatment condition operated HRT about 4hr and F/M ration below 5㎏BOD/㎏MLSS·d obtained removal efficiency of COD, BOD are respectively 30-40%, 15-25%. At B-step : as treatment condition operated HRT about 30hr and F/M ratio below 0.2㎏ BOD/㎏ MLSS·d obtained removal efficiency of COD. BOD are respectively 75-82%, above 91%. On the other hand, statistical overview of correlationship both unstable nondegradable pollutant removal efficiency in B-step and treatment of A-step, it found that excessive removal of BOD in-A-step bring about low loading in B-step caused a bad influence in stabilizing treatment. 2. The defect of AB-process are wanting actual domestic and difficult of A-step management but resistent in loading change, high loading and nonbiodegradable wastewater. And total capacity and electric cost could be reduced respectively about 50%, 40%, when these were campared wit conventional activated sludge system.

This study was carried out two point view that reuse of sludge and adsorption of benzene, toluene and o-xylene of VOCs in cast, carbonized cast and activated carbon. The cation exchange capacity of cast and carbonized cast were 59.2, 112 meq/l00g, respectively. The specific surface were 560, 800 ㎡/g, respectively. The average removal rates of benzene by 50g cast of 50% hydrous cast, anhydrous cast, carbonized cast, activated carbon were 15.0, 41.2, 88.2, 99.4% in 60min retention time. The average removal rates of toluene by 50g cast of 50% hydrous cast, anhydrous cast, carbonized cast, activated carbon were 12.5, 34.2, 88.2, 99.5% in 60min retention time. The average removal rates of o-xylene 50g cast of 50% hydrous cast, anhydrous cast, carbonized cast, activated carbon were 8.8, 28.5, 84.8, 98.1% in 60min retention time. The adsorption efficiency of test absorbent was in order of benzene > toluene > o-xylene.
