        A study of the relationship between learning flow and learning burnout in college online classes

        본 연구의 목적은 대학 온라인 학습자들의 학습몰입, 온라인 학습의 효과성, 그리고 학습소진간의 관계를 조사하는데 있다. 총 149명의 대학생이 연구에 참여하였고 학습몰입, 학습소진, 그리고 배경질문을 포함한 설문 작성을 완료하였다. 연구의 결과로 학습몰입이 높은 참가자들은 학습소진이 낮았다. 또한, 지각된 온라인 학습의 효과가 인지적 학습몰입과 학습소진의 관계에서는 부분적으로 매개했지만 정의적 학습몰입과 학습소진의 관계에서는 매개효과를 나타내지 않았다. 인지적 학습몰입이 높은 학습자들은 온라인 학습을 보다 효과적이라고 지각했기 때문에, 학습소진을 낮추기 위해서 학습자의 인지적 학습몰입을 높일 수 있는 방법을 찾는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구의 시사점으로, 대학차원에서 학생들에게 행정적 지원과 적절한 온라인 학습 환경을 제공하려는 노력이 뒷받침되어야 하겠다. This study aims to investigate the relationship among the learning flow, perceived effectiveness of online learning and learning burnout in college online classes. A total of 149 college students participated in the study and completed the survey including learning flow, learning burnout and demographic information. The results showed that participants with higher learning flow showed less learning burnout. In addition, the perceived effectiveness of online learning partially mediated the relationship between cognitive learning flow and learning burnout, but did not mediate the relationship between defined learning flow and learning burnout. Since learners with higher cognitive learning flow perceived online learning as more effective, it is necessary to find out how to build learners' cognitive learning flow to decrease learning burnout. The results imply that universities should provide students with administrative support and an appropriate online learning environment.

        영어쓰기에서 AWE 프로그램 활용에 대한 대학생의 인식 및 태도 연구

        본 연구에서는 영어쓰기에서 활용되고 있는 온라인 자동쓰기평가 프로그램을 활용하는데 있어서 학생들의 인식 및 태도를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 총 131명이 참여하였고 참여자는 대학교 1학년 초급수준의 학습자들로 구성되어있다. 연구도구로는 사전 · 사후 설문지, 사전 · 사후 테스트 그리고 학습저널의 자료가 수집되고 분석되었다. 연구는 2019년 2학기, 총 15주에 걸쳐 실시되었으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 설문에 참여한 학생들은 스스로 영문법에 어려움이 있고 영작문에 있어서 피드백이 도움이 된다고 생각하고 있었다. 둘째, Grammarly 활용에 있어서 학생들은 전반적으로 긍정적인 태도를 보이고 있었다. Grammarly는 영어학습과 과제수행에 도움이 되었고 활용도 면에서도 높게 나타났다. 마지막으로 사전⸳사후 문법테스트에서 Grammarly의 효과성은 유의미한 결과를 보였다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 한 제안점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들이 프로그램을 적극적으로 활용할 수 있도록 익숙해지는 시간을 갖도록 해야 한다. 둘째, 교사는 학생들에게 AWE(Automated Writing Evaluation)의 피드백이 항상 정확하지만은 않다는 것을 이해하도록 해야 한다. 마지막으로 교사의 피드백이 반드시 함께 제공되어야 한다. The purpose of the study is to explore the perceptions or attitudes about utilizing the AWE(Automated Writing Evaluation), Grammarly in English writing. A total of 131 students who are in first grade and in beginner level participate in the study. As a research tool of the study, pre and post-surveys, pre and post-tests, and learning journals were collected and analyzed. The study was conducted for 15 weeks in the 2nd semester of 2019. According to the results, the findings are as follows. First, the students in the study had difficulty with English grammar and found it useful to get English feedback in English writing. Next, the students showed positive attitudes toward the use of Grammarly. It was helpful for English learning and assignment performance and showed high usefulness. Finally, Grammarly’s effect showed a statistically significant result between the pre and post-tests. Based on the results some suggestions are as follows. First, let the students take some time with the program to use to operate. Second, teachers have to make the students understand that AWE’s feedback is not always correct. Lastly, it should be provided with teachers’ feedback.

        Korean University Students` Attitude toward a Task Recording Activity

        본 연구의 목적은 학생들의 자가학습을 기반으로 한 활동을 소개?적용하고, 이에 대한 학습자의 태도를 알아보는데 있다. 본 연구는 충청도 권에 위치한 A 대학교에서 실시하였으며, 총 28명의 학생이 참여하였다. 본 연구에서 제시된 과업녹음활동은 McCormick과 Vercellotti(2013), Stillwell, Curabba, Alexander, Kidd, Kim, Stone과 Wyle(2010)의 활동을 수정?보완하여 제시하였다[14][19]. 과업녹음활동의 3단계는 준비단계, 과업녹음활동단계, 그리고 평가단계로 구성되었다. 연구방법으로 설문지와 학생저널이 사용되었고, 질적으로 수집, 분석되었다. 본 연구의 결과로 과업녹음활동은 의사소통 위주의 수업뿐만 아니라 시험기반의 토익스피킹수업에서도 적용가능하며, 학생들 또한 토익스피킹 과업 학습에 있어서 자가전사와 자가수정에 긍정적인 태도를 보였다. 본 연구의 시사점으로 시험기반의 수업에서 과업녹음활동은 학생들을 자기주도적인 학습자로 나아가는데 도움을 줄 수 있으며, 학생들의 영어능숙도에 따른 가이드라인을 제공함으로써 학습에 대한 자가성찰 활동을 발전시킬 수 있을 것이다. 이때, 학생들은 스스로의 학습에 대한 적극적인 태도가 필요할 것이다. The purposes of the study are to introduce and apply an activity that can help improve student-initiated learning on the TOEIC Speaking Test (TOEICST) performance and to see students’ attitude toward the activity. Twenty-eight university students in Chungcheong province engaged in learning based on this activity. In the present study, the activity proposed by McCormick and Vercellotti (2013) and Stillwell, Curabba, Alexander, Kidd, Kim, Stone, & Wyle (2010) was modified and adapted[14][19]. The outline of the Task Recording Activity (TRA) consisted of three steps: preparation step, Task Recording Activity step, and evaluation step. As data collection of the study, a survey and students’ journal were utilized and qualitatively analyzed. The results showed that student-initiated learning activity could be applied positively not only in communicative lessons, but in TOEICST specific lessons as well. Additionally, participants showed positive attitudes toward self-transcription and self-correction. Some implications of the study are that the TRA can be applied to generate autonomous learners studying for the TOEIC Speaking Test, that the guideline for different proficiency can be developed to help them improve their self-reflection, and that students need to have an active attitude to lead their own learning.

        여성 사이클 참여자의 여가촉진과 진지한 여가로서의 접근 연구

        The purpose of the study is to investigate the qualities of female cyclists’ experience in how their leisure facilitation and serious leisure develop while participants in bicycle. This study uses a qualitative approach to analyze women bicyclists’ experiences in detail, and in particular, uses phenomenological research methods to derive the patterns of participants’ experience. The in-depth interviews with six research participants were conducted and analyzed. The results of this study are follows. Firs, it were analyzed into three high categories of leisure facilitation factors: intrinsic factor, interpersonal factor and structural factor. Second, in terms of serious leisure, it derived six factors: endurance, professionalism, personal efforts, lasting benefits, identity, and uniqueness from participants’ interview. In the study, the findings showed that female bicyclists made efforts to approach cycling professionally and creating relationships with serious leisure.

        영어 프레젠테이션을 위한 실시간과 비실시간 비디오기반 그룹 활동에서 대학생의 학습태도에 관한 연구

        The purpose of the study is to explore college students’ perceptions/attitudes during synchronous and asynchronous group activities. The survey comprised of a 10-item, 5-point Likert-type questionnaire and open-ended questions. In the study, two groups, a synchronous group and an asynchronous group, participated in four activities during one semester. For the data collection, the researcher surveyed 116 students who are in the 1st year of college and collected their final tests, an oral presentation. The findings are as follows. Firstly, between the two groups, the synchronous group showed higher mean scores for online group participation. Secondly, the synchronous group also indicated higher mean scores for English learning, speaking confidence, and interest in learning English. Lastly, both groups mentioned communication with team members, improvement of English speaking and pronunciation, increased self-confidence and other elements as advantages of group work. In contrast, disadvantages included: technology problems, decreased self-confidence, inconveniences when meeting with team members online and others. The implications for the study are: first, online group activity can reduce isolation and increase interaction; second, the online video-based platform, Flipgrid, can help students improve English speaking skills by observing their own or peers’ videos; lastly, instructors can selectively use the synchronous and asynchronous group activities to suit their educational needs.

        대학생의 읽기불안감과 영어성취도에 따른 읽기전략사용 연구

        본 연구의 목적은 대학생들의 읽기불안감과 영어성취도에 따른 읽기전략의 사용에 관한 연구이다. 총 86명의 학생이 연구에 참여하였고 읽기 전략[9]과 읽기 불안감[10]에 관한 설문지를 작성하였다. 수거된 설문지는 SPSS 21을 사용하여 정량적 방법으로 분석되어졌다. 본 연구결과로는 영어성취도에 따른 읽기전략으로 상급과 중급은 문제해결 읽기전략이 높았고, 반면에 초급은 총체적 읽기전략이 높았다. 읽기불안에 따른 읽기전략의 관계에서 상관관계는 보이지 않았으나, 불안감이 높은 그룹과 낮은 그룹 간에 약간의 차이점이 나타났다. 불안감이 높은 그룹은 읽기내용에서 단서나 자료 이용하는 전략이나 이해의 어려움이 있을 때 더 내용에 집중하는 전략을 선호하였고 불안감이 낮은 그룹은 독해 도중 집중력을 잃었을 때는 다시 돌아와서 읽는 전략, 읽는 속도를 조절하거나 읽는 내용의 이해에 신중을 기하는 전략을 선호하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 시사점과 제한점을 토론하였다. This study examines university students‘ reading strategies based on English proficiency and reading anxiety. A total of 86 university students participated in the study and completed two questionnaires related to reading strategies[9] and reading anxiety[10]. The collected data was quantitatively analyzed using SPSS 21. The results indicated that advanced and intermediate students preferred to use Problem Solving Strategies(PROB), whereas beginning level readers tended to use and Global Reading strategies(GLOB). There was no significant relationship between reading anxiety and reading strategies. However, there were some differences between two groups. High anxiety students preferred to use reading materials and textual clues and try to focus on their reading when they have a difficulty. Low anxiety students tended to adjust reading pace and try to focus on comprehension and reread when they lost their focus. Based on the results of the study, several implications and limitations were discussed.

        비대면 수업에서 대학 교수자 인식에 관한 질적연구 : 교양영어수업을 중심으로

        COVID-19 impacted traditional learning methods and academic institutions in the world, with a large number of schools and universities choosing to close and starting to run online classes as an alternative. This switch to distance learning led both students and educators to develop their own opinions based on their own perspectives. The purpose of the study is to examine university professors’ perceptions on their online classes and to provide some suggestions about them. To that end, a total of seven professors belonging to the College of Liberal Arts in D university participated in a qualitative online survey. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the primary advantage of online classes was the flexibility of time and location for both students and professors. Second, the professors mentioned that the main disadvantage of online classes was the lack of interactions with students. Third, the professors utilized a wide range of online tools such as PowerPoint, EverLec, Zoom, Google Hangouts/Meet, Screencastify, and Camtasia for online (a)synchronous classes. Lastly, the professors suggested reducing the number of students per class, developing assessment tools, and providing administrative support in order to improve future online classes. This study provided some suggestions to educators and administrators responsible for the online education system.

        항공서비스 관련학과 영어교과과정 개발을 위한 요구분석: A 대학 사례분석

        The purpose of this study is to analyze practical needs of the students and target situation and give some suggestions on developing English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curriculums for airline services majors. For data collection, the researchers surveyed 106 students of a university majoring in airline services and interviewed three flight attendants. One of the authors, an instructor of the students, also participated in the interview. In addition, an English language manual published by a domestic airline and two textbooks used in the ESP course were analyzed. According to the results, the findings are as follows. Firstly, the learners showed a positive attitude towards English. Secondly, English communication ability is an important skill when flight attendants serve passengers and work with foreign colleagues. Thirdly, English courses for airline services department divided into three categories (i.e., practical English for airline services, interview or test-prep English for getting a job, and general English) were inefficiently established and administered. Lastly, form-focused teaching still dominates in ESP courses. Thus, some suggestions are provided from the study. First, various English courses need to be developed to improve the balance of students` learning. Second, task-based syllabi have to be considered in relation to real world relevance and class participation. Third, appropriate ESP materials for pre-service flight attendants should be developed based on the needs analysis. (Dankook University, Baekseok University)

        마음챙김 활동 참여시 자기관리가 신체적 자기지각 및 자신감과의 관계 검증

        The purpose of this study is to verify the relationships among self-management, physical self-perception and confidence of participants in mindfulness activities. For the study, the participants consisted of 269 people who participated in mindfulness activities. For the data analysis, SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 22.0 were used in structure equation model analysis. The results are as follows. First, the self-management of participants who participated in mindfulness activities showed positive influence in physical self-perception. Second, physical self-perception of participants showed significant positive effect on their confidence. Lastly, self-management of participants influenced positively on their confidence. At this point, mindfulness activities are necessary to build a healthy life.

        캐나다 퀘벡주 대입제도의 특징 및 시사점 분석

        한국의 대학입시제도는 입학사정관전형에서 학생부종합전형으로 명칭을 바꾸고 학생선발방법의 한 형태로 안정된 시행을 보이고 있으나 교과 성적 외에 비교과 영역의 평가에 대한 공정성 논란은 시행 초반부터 현재까지 진행 중이다. 현재 시행중인 대학입시제도가 우리의 교육 환경에 적합한가를 비롯해 교육 환경 개선에 대한 문제도 지속적으로 제기되고 있다. 반면, 캐나다는 대학입시제도가 국민들의 주요 화두에 오르지는 않는다. 캐나다는 대학 간의 교육에 대한 전국적인 질적 수준의 보편성을 강조하며 대학입시제도를 유지하고 있다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 캐나다의 교육체계와 대학입시제도의 특징을 캐나다에서 가장 높은 고등교육 이수율을 보이고 있는 퀘벡주를 중심으로 살펴보고 퀘벡주의 전반적인 교육제도 및 목적, 주요 대학의 실제적인 대학입시제도 분석을 통해 우리의 대학입시제도에 대한 시사점을 제시하는 데 있다. Although the comprehensive school report system which was renamed from the admission officer system has been stably implemented in Korea, the fairness of the college admission system concerning the evaluation on the extra-curricular domain has still been a controversial issue. Thus, it has been the main topic in the educational policy to consider the desirable college admission system and investigate the problems of current changes in the admission system. On the other hand, the college admission system has not been the problem for students and people concerned in Canada. The completion of higher education is more important than the admission itself in Canada due to the standardization of higher education institutions such as universities in quality. In this regard, this study aims to examine the education and college admission system in Canada in general focusing on the cases of the province of Quebec.
