      • The measurement errors of ear canal landmarks

        The error in landmark has effects on dimensions and the results of the application. It is difficult to manually mark these on the curved surface of the ear canal. So, the aim of this study was to describe the feature of ear landmarks through some assisting and then to decrease the measure error. Three dimensional (3D) laser-scanning were used to obtain 3D images of these ear impressions. These ear impression models were marked by 4 times for 2 makers, 2 times was un-assisting approach, and the other was based on the profiles concept. The TEM of the landmarks which marked base on previous studies were larger than this study (the canal-concha intersection, canal-crus intersection). Landmarks with large intra-maker errors also had large inter-maker errors, but inter-maker errors were larger. The measure errors were reduce through the explicitly define landmarks let markers can pinpoint them. The explicitly define landmarks was effective for improving intra and inter maker consistency. This study provides the description of the feature for the landmark of ear canal. It’s reduced the measure error to acceptance of international standard. These landmarks would be the basis of the dimensions for ear canal.

      • A systematic review of the effects of school-based mental health education interventions on adolescents’ mental health literacy and attitudes

        Aim(s): This review summarized the effectiveness of mental health education interventions on mental health literacy and stigmatizing attitudes among secondary school students. Method(s): A systematic search of relevant Chinese and English language peer-reviewed journals was conducted in five databases (MEDLINE, PubMed, ERIC, CNKI) using keywords, such as “adoles*”, “mental health education” and “mental health literacy or mental health stigma”. Experimental studies published from 2011 to July 2021 were included. A narrative synthesis of findings was conducted. Result(s): Nineteen studies with 11,572 participants were included in this review, including 1 RCT, 4 clustered RCTs, 7 non-randomized controlled trials and 7 single group pre-test post-test design. The school-based mental health interventions among adolescents took place in both Western and non-Western countries. All of them were conducted in face-to-face approach. A diversity of educational activities were adopted. They included sharing of the patients or people in recovery of mental illness, using case vignette or video to depict mental illness. Most of the studies found the education programs were effective in improving mental health literacy and reducing stigma. Conclusion(s): While most of the studies found their outcomes are statistically significant, there are concerns over the effects of the study outcomes due to the heterogeneity among the included studies resulting from variability of measurements used with questioned reliability and validity. Future research might be suggested focusing on the measurements to appropriately evaluate the effectiveness of mental health literacy and stigmatizing attitude. Educators might consider the strengths and weaknesses of the programs to choose suitable content and mode of delivery for mental health education.

      • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) for men: A scoping review

        Aim(s): Men are less prone to seek help while they have psychological problems. In recent years, empirical studies suggested that men’s mental health is an underrated problem. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a psychotherapy that has been found promising in improving mental health among people with mental problems. However, it is not known the issues of adoption ACT in men. This review aims to describe the adoption of ACT for men. Method(s): A scoping review was conducted to identify English papers published after 2000, 4 databases (CINAHL Complete, MEDLINE, PubMed and PsycINFO) were systematically searched using the keywords of “acceptance and commitment therapy” and “male* or men or man”. Only randomized controlled trials and studies that took men as an independent group for measuring outcomes were included. Seven randomised controlled trials with 868 participants were included in this review. Result(s): Only three studies have adopted ACT for men in Asia. Most studies (n=3) delivered ACT via individual approach in 12-14 hours. No significant difference of effect across different delivery modes could be seen. ACT is effective for men in terms of mental and social well-being, and treatment-specific aspects including pornography view, smoking, post-traumatic stress disorder, penile injection and drug-using. Its effect is maintained in follow-up. However, it might not as effective as other interventions in some subscales of social and mental well-being. Conclusion(s): ACT is an effective psychotherapy for men. Due to the limited number of the primary studies in this area, future studies on these topics are suggested.

      • Unusual Critical Behavior in La<sub>1.2</sub>Sr<sub>1.8</sub>Mn<sub>2</sub>O<sub>7</sub> Single Crystal

        <P>In this paper, we present a detailed analysis on the critical behavior of La<SUB>1.2</SUB>Sr<SUB>1.8</SUB>Mn<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>7</SUB> single crystal via isothermal magnetization measured at different temperatures around the paramagnetic–ferromagnetic phase transition at <TEX>$T_{C} = 85$</TEX> K. Using the Landau–Lifshitz coefficients, the Arrott plots ( <TEX>$H/M = a(T) + b(T)M^{2}$</TEX>) of sample have been analyzed. It showed that a(T) changed from positive to negative values at different temperatures in the field ranges of <TEX>$H = 0$</TEX>–10, 10–30, and 30–50 kOe, indicating that the critical behavior could not be described with a single model under different applied fields. Through the modified Arrott plots method, the Kouvel–Fisher method, and the critical isotherm analysis, we determined the values of the critical exponents for La<SUB>1.2</SUB>Sr<SUB>1.8</SUB>Mn<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>7</SUB> around its magnetic phase transition over different magnetic field ranges. The critical exponent <TEX>$\beta $</TEX> value is found to be 0.501, 0.417, and 0.371 under field ranges of <TEX>$H = 0$</TEX>–10, 10–30, and 30–50 kOe, respectively. This means that the <TEX>$\beta $</TEX> value depends strongly on the strength of the applied field, shifting from the value approaching that of the mean field model ( <TEX>$\beta = 0.5$</TEX>) to the 3-D-Heisenbeg model ( <TEX>$\beta = 0.365$</TEX>). Meanwhile, its <TEX>$\gamma $</TEX> value is quite stable ( <TEX>$\gamma =0.973$</TEX>–1.074), almost independent on the choice of field fitting range. In addition, using the reduced temperature <TEX>$\varepsilon = (T-T_{C}$</TEX>)/ <TEX>$T_{C}$</TEX> and the obtained critical exponents, almost <TEX>$M(H, T$</TEX>) data measured near <TEX>$T_{C}$</TEX> obey the scaling equation <TEX>$M(H, \varepsilon) = \varepsilon ^{\boldsymbol {\beta }}f_{\pm }(H/\varepsilon ^{\boldsymbol {\beta +\gamma }}$</TEX>), where <TEX>$f_{+}$</TEX> and <TEX>$f_{-}$</TEX> are regular analytic functions corresponding to data at <TEX>$T > T_{C}$</TEX> and <TEX>$T < T_{C}$</TEX>, respectively.</P>

        The Effect of CdS QDs Structure on the InGaP/GaAs/Ge Triple Junction Solar Cell Efficiency

        This work describes optical and electrical characteristics of InGaP/GaAs/Ge triple-junction (T-J) solar cells with CdS quantum dots (QDs) fabricated by a novel chemical solution. With the anti-reflective feature at long wavelength and down-conversion at UV regime, the CdS quantum dot effectively enhance the overall power conversion efficiency more than that of a traditional GaAs-based device. Experimental results indicate that CdS quantum dot can enhance the short-circuit current by 0.33 mA/cm2, which is observed for the triple-junction solar cells with CdS QDs of about 3.5 nm in diameter. Moreover, the solar cell conversion efficiency is improved from 28.3% to 29.0% under one-sun AM 1.5 global illumination I-V measurement.

        HALL EFFECT AND RESISTIVITY OF AMORPHOUS Fe83-XZr7B10NbX ALLOYS

        The effect of small addition of Nb on the electrical resistivity and Hall coefficient of the amorphous Fe_(83)Zr_7B_(10) alloy and annealed ones below the crystallization temperature were investigated, which has been considered to be suitable for high frequency core material. At room temperature, their resistivities ρ and the spontaneous Hall coefficients Rs are ~1.6 μΩm and ~ 3 × 10^(-8) ㎥/As, respectively. Rs and ρ are decreased with increasing temperature from 100 K to room temperature. Side-jump effect was adopted to analyze the effect of the small variation of concentration and annealing. The quantity of Rs/ρ² at room temperature, which is directly related to the electronic structure of the mother alloy, remained almost a constant except as Quenched one as it can be predicted from the side-jump effect. We suggested the temperature dependence of Rs/ρ² can be compared to Ms(T).

        Embedded-Ge source and drain in InGaAs/GaAs dual channel MESFET

        We report the first demonstration of n-type IIIeV metal-semiconductor field-effect transistors (nMESFETs) with IV group material hetero-junction source and drain (S/D) technology. A selective epitaxial growth of germanium (Ge) in the recessed gallium arsenide (GaAs) S/D regions is successfully developed using ultra-high vacuum chemical vapor deposition (UHVCVD) system. The dual channel structure includes an additional 10-nm higher mobility n-In0.2Ga0.8As layer on n-GaAs channel and is introduced to further improve the device performance. The n-MESFET, combining embedded-Ge S/D with In0.2Ga0.8As/GaAs channel, exhibits good transfer properties with a drain current on/off ratio of approximately 103. Due to the small barrier height of Ti/In0.2Ga0.8As Schottky contact, a lattice-matched wide bandgap In0.49Ga0.51P dielectric layer is also integrated into the device architecture to build a higher electron Schottky barrier height (SBH) for gate leakage current reduction. The Ti/In0.49Ga0.51P/n-In0.2Ga0.8As Schottky diode shows a comparable leakage level to Ti/n-GaAs with 2 x 10-2 A/cm2 at a gate voltage of -2.0 V.

      • Critical Behavior in La<sub>0.75</sub>Ca<sub>0.2</sub>Ag<sub>0.05</sub>MnO<sub>3</sub> Exhibiting the Griffiths Phase

        <P>In this paper, we have investigated the critical properties in the vicinity of the ferromagnetic (FM)–paramagnetic (PM) phase transition in a polycrystalline sample of La<SUB>0.75</SUB>Ca<SUB>0.2</SUB>Ag<SUB>0.05</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB>, which was prepared by a solid-state reaction method. Temperature dependence of the inverse of the susceptibility <TEX>$\chi ^{-1}$</TEX> ( <TEX>$T$</TEX>) proves an existence of the Griffiths phase well above Curie temperature ( <TEX>$T_{C} = 230$</TEX> K). Detailed analyses of the isothermal magnetization <TEX>$M$</TEX>( <TEX>$H$</TEX>, <TEX>$T$</TEX>) data reveal the sample exhibiting a second-order magnetic phase transition, and its temperature dependences of the saturation magnetization and the initial susceptibility obey the asymptotic relations. Using the modified Arrott plots method, the Kouvel–Fisher method, and the critical isotherm analysis, the critical parameters ( <TEX>$\beta$</TEX>, <TEX>$\gamma$</TEX>, <TEX>$\delta$</TEX>, and <TEX>$T_{C}$</TEX>) of La<SUB>0.75</SUB>Ca<SUB>0.2</SUB>Ag<SUB>0.05</SUB>MnO<SUB>3</SUB> compound have been estimated. Using these critical exponent values, almost <TEX>$M$</TEX>( <TEX>$H$</TEX>, <TEX>$T$</TEX>) data measured at different temperatures around FM–PM phase transition are collapsed onto two universal curves of <TEX>$M/\vert \varepsilon \vert ^{\boldsymbol {\beta }}$</TEX> versus <TEX>$H/\vert \varepsilon \vert ^{\boldsymbol {\beta }+\boldsymbol {\gamma }}$</TEX> corresponding to the regular functions for <TEX>$T > T_{C}$</TEX> and <TEX>$T < T_{C}$</TEX>, respectively.</P>

      • 자기센서를 이용한 에스컬레이터 구동체인 국부 손상 진단

        고층의 공공 건축물에서 에스컬레이터는 수많은 탑승자가 동시에 이용하는 필수적인 수직 이동 시설물이다. 에스컬레이터에서 구동체인은 동력을 전달하는 핵심 부품인데, 구동체인 파단에 의한 역주행 사고가 지속적으로 발생하고 있으며, 이는 대형인명사고로 이어지고 있어 이의 예방이 반드시 필요한 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 체인의 초기 파단손상 진단을 통한 예방적 유지관리를 위해 마그네틱 센서 기반의 비파괴 진단 기법을 구동체인에 적용하였다. 이의 실험적 검증을 위해 다채널의 자속신호를 동시 수집할 수 있는 마그네틱 센서헤드를 제작하였고, 이를 에스컬레이터 시뮬레이터에 설치되어 구동되는 더블체인 손상시편에 적용하여 자속신호를 수집하였다. 수집된 각 채널별 자속 신호로부터 국부 손상부에서 발생하는 자속의 변화 특성을 확인하였고, 이러한 특성을 부각하여 이용하고자 다단계의 신호처리를 수행하였다. 가공된 자속신호를 손상 판단을 위해 설정된 통계기반의 임계값에 적용함으로써 구동체인에 발생한 국부손상을 객관적으로 자동 진단하였다.
