Analysis of chemical compounds and toxicological evaluation of Forsythia suspensa leaves tea

To determine the compositions of Forsythia suspensa leaves tea (FSLT) and its safety, the chemical compounds were analysed with some methods, and the toxicity was evaluated in Kunming mice and Wistar rats. The results showed that FSLT contained rich flavonoid, lignans, triperpene acids, amino acids, and mineral elements. In the acute toxicity study, none of the mice died, and no obvious poisoning symptoms were observed after 14 days in mice at the dose of 15 mg/g·body weight (bw) FSLT; in the sub-chronic toxicity, no abnormal or dead rat was found at the dose of 1, 3, and 10 mg/g·bw during 90 days feeding administration; there was no significant difference in bw and food consumption; no significant differences were found in each hematology and serum biochemistry parameter and organ/body weight ratio comparing with the control experimental group. The results revealed that the FSLT has low or no toxicity via oral administration. Therefore, FSLT is very suitable and safe to be used as a new resource food.
Study on modulation of near infrared radiation based on plasma photonic crystal

In this paper, a plasma photonic crystal (PPC) for infrared radiation modulation which is composed of indium tin oxide (ITO) and plasma is proposed. The performance of plasma photonic crystal in near infrared radiation modulation is researched by transfer matrix method (TMM). The simulation results show that the near infrared radiation pass band can be adjusted by the changing of plasma frequency of plasma. The reflection to near infrared radiation by plasma photonic crystal increases with plasma frequency and that of absorption decreases. In addition, the modulation performance of the plasma photonic crystal at different incidence wave angles is also studied. The results show that the incident wave angles have little effect on the transmission of plasma photonic crystal in near infrared band. The reflection of the plasma photonic crystal to near infrared radiation decreases with increasing of the incident wave angle, but that of the absorption increases with the incident wave angle. Therefore, the proposed plasma photonic crystal has a potential application in tunable near infrared filter devices.

The conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone play a crucial role in hair baldness. Recent approach showed specific inhibitors for 5a-reductase and androgen receptor promoted hair growth in male pattern alopecia. The purpose of this study was to investigate the in vivo effects of complex extracts from Chrysanthemum zawadskii, Mentha piperita and Glycyrrrhiza glabra (CMG) on hair growth growth by regulating androgen signaling proteins. We investigated the effects of antioxidant activity, Androgen signaling pathway proteins, inflammatory cytokine proteins analysis to determine the hair growth effects. Five-week-old male C57BL/6 mice were used. The mice were divided into the sevene groups: Normal control, Positive control, 100mg/kg CMG, 200mg/kg CMG, 400 mg/kg CMG, pansidil. Each group was orally administrated, once a day, for 14 days. We analyzed hair growth and histological changes. The results revealed that CMG treatment decreased the 5 α-reductase enzyme and androgen receptor protein level in mice. To investigate regulation of the inflammatory cytokine from CMG-treated mice, we conducted western blot analysis. Inflammatory cytokine proteins level in mice treated with CMG was changed in a dose dependent manner. Moreover, CMG treatment increased hair growth score and antioxidant activity in mice. Our in vivo results that CMG treatment showed the increase of hair follicles and hair growth. These results suggest that the CMG promotes hair growth by regulating the inhibition androgen signaling pathway proteins and activation of inflammatory cytokine and antioxidant activity.
Chemical constituents from the leaves of Juglans mandshurica

Two new (1 and 3) and two known diarylheptanoids(2 and 4), along with two tetralones (5 and 6), onenaphthoquinone (7), four phenylpropanoids (8–11), andone phenol (12) were isolated from the leaves of Juglansmandshurica. Their structures were elucidated on the basisof spectral and chemical data. Compounds 2 and 10 arefirstly isolated from this plant and 8 and 12 were isolatedfrom the Juglans genus for the first time. Among thesecompounds, only 7 exhibited moderate cytotoxicitiesagainst cultured MGC-803, A549, K562, and HeLa tumorcell lines with IC50 values of 25.90, 28.60, 39.06,44.90 lM, respectively.
Apply Partition Tree to Compute Canonical Labelings of Graphs

This paper establishes a theoretical framework by defining a set of concepts useful for classifying graphs and computing the canonical labeling Cmax(G) of a given undirected graph G, which including the partition tree PartT(G), maximum partition tree MaxPT(G), centre subgraph Cen(G), standard regular sequence SRQ(G), standard maximum regular sequence SMRQ(G), and so on. The implementations of algorithms 1 to 5 show how to calculate them accordingly. The worst time complexities of algorithms 1, 2, 4, and 5 are O(n2) respectively. The time complexity of Algorithm 3 is O(n). By Theorem 3, all leaf nodes of PartT(G) and MaxPT(G) are the regular subgraphs. By Theorem 4 and 5, there exists only one Cen(G) in G. Regular Partition Theorem 6 shows that there exists just one corresponding PartT(G), SRQ(G), MaxPT(G), and SMRQ(G). One can use Classification Theorem 7 to category graphs. Theorem 8 and 9 establish the link between the Cen(G) and the calculation of the first node u1 added into MaxQ(G) corresponding to the canonical labeling Cmax(G) of G. Further, it utilizes the Cen(G) to calculate the first node u1 added into MaxQ(G). The proposed methods can be extended to deal with the directed graphs and weighted graphs.

Dynamic Function Allocation Method for Aircraft Cockpit Based on Operator Functional State

Dynamic function allocation for aircraft cockpit benefits the complementary between operators and automation and the whole system performance. We selected two important physiological parameters HRV2 and TLI2, which have great influences on the operator functional state (OFS) and took their measurements as a trigger mechanism for dynamic function allocation of the cockpit system. After that, we utilized fuzzy logic to put forward a dynamic adjustment methodology for the levels of automation and used MATLAB to verify the utility of the method.

The present study was designed to isolate and characterize novel chemical constituents of the stem bark of Juglans mandshurica Maxim. (Juglandaceae).The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by various chromatographic techniques. The structures of the compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectral data (1D and 2D NMR, HR-ESI-MS, CD, UV, and IR) and by the comparisons of spectroscopic data with the reported values in the literatures. Two long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (1 and 2) were obtained and identified as (S)-(8E, 10E)-12-hydroxy-7-oxo-8, 10-octadecadienoic acid (1) and (S)-(8E, 10E)-12-hydroxy-7-oxo-8,10-octadecadienoic acid methyl ester (2). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the isolation and structural elucidation of the two new conjugated ketonic fatty acids from this genus.
