“Rain” is one of Maugham’s best known short stories to make him famous as a writer. This paper aims to explore the influence of the personality typology and psychological status of the protagonists on the development of the conflicts from the Freudian and Jungian perspectives. The conclusion is that for humans to live a peaceful life, it is very important to maintain equilibrium among three part of human psyche: the id, the ego, and the superego. If the balance is broken, humans sometimes do unexpected behaviors regardless of their own wills. From my own perspective, despite Davidson’s effort, the energy from the id was too strong for him to accommodate the order of the superego. The increasing anxiety caused by his morality and sexual desire made him feel heavily guilty, having him make a final decision to expiate his guilt and secure relief by committing suicide right after relieving his desire.
Characterization and Estimation of Solder-on-Pad Process for Fine-Pitch Applications

Popular solder-bumping mechanisms such as electroplating and stencil printing suffer from either high process costs or technical limitations. A low-cost solder-on-pad (SoP) process has been developed to meet the requirements of fine-pitch solder bumping. This paper focuses on the characterization and estimation of the SoP process. To form a solder bump without soldering defects, optimum process conditions should be carefully designed. A model to estimate the bump volume and predict the bump height is suggested. By optimizing the composition of solder paste material called solder-bump-maker, and by adjusting the process conditions, Sn-Ag-Cu solder bumps with different heights are obtained. The experiments and analysis to understand the impact of parameters were based on test vehicles with 80 μm pitch size. Then, the measured heights of solder bumps are compared with the model to see how they fit the estimation. Finally, a similar process has been conducted to test vehicles with pitch sizes of 150 and 40 μm, to confirm the scalability of the SoP process in different pitch sizes.

Correlation between anterior thigh pain and morphometric mismatch of femoral stem
( Haksun Chung ),( So Hak Chung ) 영남대학교 의과대학 2020 Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine Vol.37 No.1
Background: Postoperative pain occurring after hip arthroplasty has become common since the expanded use of cementless femoral stems. The characteristic pain develop in the anterolateral thigh area. This study aimed to predict anterior thigh pain based on the measurements of postoperative anteroposterior (AP) and lateral (Lat) radiographs of the hip joint. Methods: The present study included 26 patients (29 hips) who underwent total hip replacement or bipolar hemiarthroplasty between March 2010 and May 2016, whose complete clinical information was available. AP and Lat radiographs of the affected hip were taken on the day of surgery and 1 and 6 months postoperatively. Patients with improper radiographs were excluded. The distance from the femoral stem to the nearest cortical bone in the distal region of the stem was measured. The patient group with a visual analog scale (VAS) score of ≥6 points was designated as patients with anterior thigh pain. Results: Sex, age, weight, height, body mass index, and bone mineral density in the lumbar spine and femur did not have a significant effect on postoperative VAS scores (p>0.05). Presence of contact between the femoral stem and cortical bone was associated with postoperative anterior thigh pain. Conclusion: Hip AP and Lat radiographs are usually taken to confirm fixation and alignment of the femoral stem after hip arthroplasty. The measurement method introduced in this study can be utilized for predicting anterior thigh pain after hip arthroplasty.

This paper focuses on examining the effect of grammar-based English writing as a course for college English Education. The writing instruction mentioned here is a pre-stage level prior to creative and logical writing. To discuss the importance of infinite sentence generation capability based on finite grammar rules at a low level, I come up with Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory as a theoretical framework. I suggest that this paper helps teachers to motivate low-level students, find their potentials, and expand their visions without having disadvantages in this English spec-oriented society by shifting teachers’ perspectives on them from deficient language learners to multi-language users.
