      • DISTILLATION COLUMN MACHINE LEARNING MODEL CONTROLLED BY OPTIMIZED DMC

Haitham Osman,Amir Arabi 제어로봇시스템학회 2022 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2022 No.11

In this paper, a successful implementation of ANN to build a realistic model from Aspen HYSYS simulation of the distillation column that separates LNG Hydrocarbons (C1 to n-C8) components is achieved. The machine learning model is used within the framework of the Model Based Predictive Control (MBPC) toolbox for optimum tuning; the control objective is to reduce variation of product purity due to operation constraints. This paper demonstrates how Aspen Hysys and Matlab-Simulink can be effectively used for control study. The results showed that the optimized DMC with NSGA-II control can provide offset-free dynamic control.

      • LQ Evolution Algorithm Optimizer for Model Predictive Control at Model Uncertainty

Haitham Osman 제어로봇시스템학회 2014 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2014 No.10

This paper presents an evolution algorithm as a powerful optimisation technique for tuning Model Based Predictive Control (MBPC) at the implications of different levels of model uncertainties. Although Standard Genetic Algorithms (SGAs) are proven to successfully tune and optimise MBPC parameters when no model mismatch. SGAs are trapped in a local optimum at the price of model uncertainty. The multi-objective evaluation algorithms are capable to incorporate many objective functions that can meet simultaneously robust control design objective functions. These promising techniques are successfully implemented to stabilised MBPC at high model uncertainty.

Effective technique to analyze transmission line conductors under high intensity winds

        Haitham Aboshosha,Ashraf El Damatty 한국풍공학회 2014 한국풍공학회지 Vol.18 No.3

An effective numerical technique to calculate the reactions of a multi-spanned transmission line conductor system, under arbitrary loads varying along the spans, is developed. Such variable loads are generated by High Intensity Wind (HIW) events in the form of tornadoes and downburst. First, a semi-closed form solution is derived to obtain the displacements and the reactions at the ends of each conductor span. The solution accounts for the nonlinearity of the system and the flexibility of the insulators. Second, a numerical scheme to solve the derived closed-form solution is proposed. Two conductor systems are analyzed under loads resulting from HIW events for validation of the proposed technique. Non-linear Finite Element Analyses (FEA) are also conducted for the same two systems. The responses resulting from the technique are shown to be in a very good agreement with those resulting from the FEA, which confirms the technique accuracy. Meanwhile, the semi-closed form technique shows superior efficiency in terms of the required computational time. The saving in computational time has a great advantage in predicting the response of the conductors under HIW events, since this requires a large number of analyses to cover different potential locations and sizes of those localized events.

Dynamic response of transmission line conductors under downburst and synoptic winds

Haitham Aboshosha,Ashraf El Damatty 한국풍공학회 2015 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.21 No.2

In the current study, dynamic and quasi-static analyses were performed to investigate the response of multiple-spanned and single-spanned transmission line conductors under both downburst and synoptic winds considering different wind velocities and different length spans. Two critical downburst configurations, recommended in the literature and expected to cause maximum conductor reactions, were considered in the analyses. The objective of the study was to assess the importance of including the dynamic effect when predicting the conductor's reactions on the towers. This was achieved by calculating the mean, the background and the resonant reaction components, and evaluating the contribution of the resonant component to the peak reaction. The results show that the maximum contribution of the resonant component is generally low (in the order of 6%) for the multiple-spanned system at different wind velocities for both downburst and synoptic winds. For the single-spanned system, the result show a relatively high maximum contribution (in the order of 16%) at low wind velocity and a low maximum contribution (in the order of 6%) at high wind velocity for both downburst and synoptic winds. Such contributions may justify the usage of the quasi-static approach for analyzing transmission line conductors subjected to the high wind velocities typically used for the line design.

Human Capital Demographic Transition and Economic Growth

Haitham Issa 중앙대학교 경제연구소 2005 Journal of Economic Development Vol.30 No.2

This paper extends the literature on economic growth and demographic change by developing a neo-classical model of endogenous growth in which both economic and demographic outcomes are jointly determined. The key point in this model is the endogenisation of child mortality rate by linking it to parents’ human capital, defined in a broad sense to include both education and health. The numerical simulation of this model confirms that as economic development takes place there will be a decline in child mortality rate followed by similar trend in fertility rate, hence, population growth rate.

Prediction of Behaviour and Failure of Steel Columns Subjected to Blast Followed by Fire Induced by Explosion

Haitham Al-Thairy 한국강구조학회 2021 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.21 No.4

When a structure is subjected to an explosion, high blast pressure is initially released during a very short period of time and is followed by fire. The combined effects of blast and fire may cause damage and failure of one or more key elements of the structure leading to progressive collapse and failure of the entire structure. However, design procedures suggested by current standards and codes do not consider the combined effects of blast and fire because of the complexity of the problem, which involves inertia and heat effects with high geometrical and material nonlinearities. The ultimate aim of the present study is the numerical and analytical prediction of the behaviour and failure of steel columns subjected to blast pressure followed by fire. A new numerical model was developed and validated to perform both dynamic and transient thermal analyses simultaneously using the dynamic fully coupled thermal-displacement analysis procedure within ABAQUS/explicit. The proposed numerical model was validated against published experimental test results. The study also proposes a new simplified approach for analysing the combined effects of blast and fire on the response and critical temperature of steel columns. The suggested approach implements the single degree of freedom analysis method (SDOF) in conjunction with the resistance function of steel columns at elevated temperature. The proposed analytical method has been validated against published experimental results in addition to numerical simulation results conducted in this study, and the validation has shown very good correlation between the results. The validated analytical approach can be used in the preliminary analysis and design of steel columns under blast and fire.

Camouflage treatment of posterior bite collapse in a patient with skeletal asymmetry by using posterior maxillary segmental osteotomy

        Haitham Badr,Soo-Yeon Lee,Hong-Sik Park,Joo-Young Ohe,Yoon-Goo Kang,Hyo-Won Ahn 대한치과교정학회 2020 대한치과교정학회지 Vol.50 No.4

Orthodontic treatment of posterior bite collapse due to early loss of molars and the consequent drift of adjacent teeth is complicated. When the posterior bite collapse occurs in patients with facial asymmetry, both transverse and vertical compensation are necessary for camouflage orthodontic treatment. In such cases, posterior maxillary segmental osteotomy (PMSO) can be an effective alternative procedure that simplifies the orthodontic treatment and shows long-term stability through dental compensation within the alveolar bone housing. This case report aimed to describe the orthodontic treatment of maxillary occlusal plane canting caused by severely extruded maxillary teeth in a patient with skeletal facial asymmetry that was corrected with PMSO along with protraction of the lower second molar to replace the space of the extracted first molar. The treatment duration was 18 months, and stable results were obtained after 2 years of retention.

B\'ezout rings and weakly B\'ezout rings

Haitham El Alaoui 대한수학회 2022 대한수학회보 Vol.59 No.4

In this paper, we study some properties of B\'ezout and weakly B\'ezout rings. Then, we investigate the transfer of these notions to trivial ring extensions and amalgamated algebras along an ideal. Also, in the context of domains we show that the amalgamated is a B{\'e}zout ring if and only if it is a weakly B\'ezout ring. All along the paper, we put the new results to enrich the current literature with new families of examples of non-B\'ezout weakly B\'ezout rings.

Thymol Rich Thymbra capitata Essential Oil Inhibits Quorum Sensing, Virulence and Biofilm Formation of Beta Lactamase Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Haitham Qaralleh 한국생약학회 2019 Natural Product Sciences Vol.25 No.2

Infections with Pseudomonas aeruginosa are difficult to treat not only because it is often associated with multidrug-resistant infections but also it is able to form biofilm. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibiofilm and anti-Quorum Sensing (QS) activities of Thymbra capitata essential oils (EOs) against Beta Lactamase (BL) producing P. aeruginosa and the reference strain P. aeruginosa 10145. GC/MS analysis showed that thymol (23.25%) is the most dominant compound in T. capitata EOs. The MICs of T. capitata EOs against P. aeruginosa (BL) and P. aeruginosa 10145 were 1.11%. At sub MIC (0.041, 0.014 and 0.0046%), the EOs of T. capitata remarkably inhibited the biofilm formation of both strains tested and complete inhibition of the biofilm formation was reported at 0.041%. The EOs of T. capitata were found to inhibit the swarming motility, aggregation ability and hydrophobic ability of P. aeruginosa (BL) and P. aeruginosa 10145. Interestingly, the EOs of T. capitata reduce the production of three secreted virulence factors that regulated by QS system including pyocyanin, rhamnolipids and LasA protease. The potent antibiofilm and anti-QS activities of T. capitata EOs can propose it as a new antibacterial agent to control pseudomonas infections.

Legal Framework of Unfair Competition In Jordan: Scope of Application and Legal Protection

Haitham A. Haloush (사) 이준국제법연구원 2009 Journal of East Asia and International Law Vol.2 No.1

Until the year 2000, there was no specific statute enacted in Jordan that regulates unfair competition. In the year 2000, the Jordanian Unfair Competition Law No. 15 of 2000 was enacted. The Law deals with the issue of unfair competition in a very generic way. In addition to the Jordanian Unfair Competition Law, the principal statutory source of protection is implemented through the general rules and principles of civil law, particularly, tort law and injurious acts. Although the Jordanian Unfair Competition Law purports to implement a general legal regime onunfair competition, it includes very little in terms of substantive or procedural protection of unfair competition. Presently, the Jordanian legal system provides only very limited protection which is not adequate to accommodate unfair competition cases. Therefore, statutory changes are needed.
