The objective of this study was to analyze the waste nutrient generation loads from hydroponics for three major crops in Gyeongsangnam-do. Study hydroponic farms were selected for the three major crops such as paprika, strawberry, tomato based on the agricultural statistics data and field investigation. The flow amount and water quality for inflow and outflow of study hydroponic farms were monitored and analyzed on a monthly basis. Monitored samples were analyzed in terms of DO, BOD, T -N, T-P, SS, and EC. The generated load of BOD, T -N, and T-P were calculated from the monitored flow and water quality. The monitoring results showed that the drainage ratio for the circular hydroponic farm was lower than the non-circular hydroponic farm because the outflow from the circular hydroponics were much lower than that from the non-circular. The generated load calculation results showed that the BOD tended to have a smaller value than the TMDLs guideline for land, while T-N and T-P showed higher value than that from the TMDLs guideline. In order to effectively manage the pollutant load discharged from the hydroponics farming complex, it is necessary to manage the non-circulating hydroponics farm. To improve water quality, it is necessary to gradually expand the circulating hydroponics farm through policy and economic support.

Objectives To evaluate the feasibility of robot-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy in multiple myomas over 10. Methods A retrospective study was conducted for 662 patients who underwent robot-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy and open myomectomy by a single operator in a tertiary university hospital. Results A total of 30 women underwent removal of 10 or more uterine myomas by robotics and 13 patients were selected for this study. The average number of myomas removed was 13.7 (range 10-20). The maximum diameter of the myomas was 6.8 cm (range 5.0-10.0 cm). The sum of the diameters of each myoma was 34.7 cm (range 20.0-54.5 cm) and the mass of resected myomas for each case was 229.1 g (range 106.8-437.9 g). In no case was the robotic procedure converted into conventional laparoscopy or laparotomy, and all patients recovered without any major complications. In comparison with 13 cases of open myomectomy during the same period, robotic surgery took longer time than open surgery (360.5 vs. 183.8 minutes; P=0.001) but had shorter postoperative hospital days after surgery (mean 2.5 vs. 3.5 days; P=0.003). Conclusion Robot-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy could be an alternative to laparotomic myomectomy for numerous myomas over 10 in number.

Angioleiomyoma is a rare type of leiomyoma variant and there are a few cases reported to date. Herein, we present a case of angioleiomyoma in a 36-year-old woman with lower abdominal pain, initially diagnosed by degenerated uterine leiomyoma. The transvaginal ultrasonogram showed an ovoid-shaped heterogeneously hyperechoic lesion in left cornual site of uterus and pelvic magnetic resonance image showed an about 5.1 cm sized heterogenous T2 intermediate high mass with poor enhancement. The patient underwent a robot-assisted laparoscopic myomectomy, and final histopathologic diagnosis revealed uterine angioleiomyoma. This case is the first case of angioleiomyoma resected by robotic surgery. The patient is on follow up for over 1 year and shows no evidence of recurrence until now.

ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles were prepared by using a high-temperature thermal-decomposition method and was investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron spectroscopy (HR-TEM), MagneTherm, vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) and M¨ossbauer spectroscopy. The XRD patterns revealed cubic spinel structures with space group Fd-3m. ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles were exposed to an argon plasma for 30 min. The self-heating temperature increased up to 37 C during plasma treatment for 30 min. Magnetic measurements showed that the blocking temperature increased from 72 to 78 K during the plasma treatment. A high saturation magnetization was obtained in the partially-inverted spinel. In order to confirm the cation distribution and the phase transition, we performed M¨ossbauer measurement. The M¨ossbauer spectra of ZnFe2O4 before and after plasma treatment showed Fe3+ valence states at room temperature. Also, the N´eel temperature of ZnFe2O4 was found to be larger after the plasma treatment.

Background: Ginsenoside Rh2 has been known to enhance the activity of immune cells, as well as to inhibit the growth of tumor cells. Although the repertoire of genes regulated by Rh2 is well-known in many cancer cells, the epigenetic regulation has yet to be determined, especially for comprehensive approaches to detect methylation changes. Methods: The effect of Rh2 on genome-wide DNA methylation changes in breast cancer cells was examined by treating cultured MCF-7 with Rh2. Pyrosequencing analysis was carried out to measure the methylation level of a global methylation marker, LINE1. Genome-wide methylation analysis was carried out to identify epigenetically regulated genes and to elucidate the most prominent signaling pathway affected by Rh2. Apoptosis and proliferation were monitored to examine the cellular effect of Rh2. Results: LINE1 showed induction of hypomethylation at specific CpGs by 1.6e9.1% (p < 0.05). Genomewide methylation analysis identified the “cell-mediated immune response”-related pathway as the top network. Cell proliferation of MCF-7 was retarded by Rh2 in a dose-dependent manner. Hypermethylated genes such as CASP1, INSL5, and OR52A1 showed downregulation in the Rh2-treated MCF-7, while hypomethylated genes such as CLINT1, ST3GAL4, and C1orf198 showed upregulation. Notably, a higher survival rate was associated with lower expression of INSL5 and OR52A1 in breast cancer patients, while with higher expression of CLINT1. Conclusion: The results indicate that Rh2 induces epigenetic methylation changes in genes involved in immune response and tumorigenesis, thereby contributing to enhanced immunogenicity and inhibiting the growth of cancer cells.
