In this paper, we construct the inter-couplings and analyze the structural controllability of interdependent networks with known directed subnets. Firstly, we divide the interdependent network into a leader-system and a follower-system. The leader-system is proved to be certainly controllable, so we focus on constructing intercouplings between two follower-subsystems and analyzing the structural controllability of the follower-system when the positions and the number of the leaders are fixed. Secondly, based on Kalman rank criterion, PBH rank criterion, as well as the graph maximum matching algorithm, combined with the controllable structure decomposition algorithm, several sufficient or necessary conditions for the structural controllability of the topological isomorphic follower-system are proposed to guarantee whether the follower-system and interdependent network are controllable or not. All the conditions provided in this paper also are suitable for the networks with undirected subnets. Finally, we take two examples to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our theoretical conclusions.

Aim: To investigate the expression of protein kinase $CK2{\alpha}$ ($CK2{\alpha}$) in human thyroid disease and its relationship with thyroid cancer metastasis. Materials and Methods: Using immunohistochemistry we measured the expression of $CK2{\alpha}$ in 76 benign and malignant human thyroid cancer tissues, including 10 pairs of papillary carcinoma tissues with or without lymph node cancerous metastasis and similarly 10 pairs of lymph nodes. Results: The expression of $CK2{\alpha}$ was found to be higher in thyroid carcinoma cases (papillary carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, anaplastic carcinoma and medullary carcinoma) than in ones such as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, nodular goiter and adenoma. These findings were also confirmed by RT-PCR and Western blotting. More strikingly, elevated expression of $CK2{\alpha}$ in thyroid papillary carcinoma tissues was not only significantly associated with lymph node cancerous metastasis and clinical stage of thyroid cancers; but also correlated with epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and high tenascin C (TNC) expression. In addition, EMT and high TNC expression in thyroid carcinoma tissues was significantly associated with lymph node cancerous metastasis. Conclusions: Elevated expression of nuclear $CK2{\alpha}$ is a poor prognosis indicator in lymph node cancerous metastasis of human thyroid cancers.
CD160 is essential for NK-mediated IFN-γ production

<P>NK-derived cytokines play important roles for natural killer (NK) function, but how the cytokines are regulated is poorly understood. CD160 is expressed on activated NK or T cells in humans but its function is unknown. We generated CD160-deficient mice to probe its function. Although CD160−/− mice showed no abnormalities in lymphocyte development, the control of NK-sensitive tumors was severely compromised in CD160−/− mice. Surprisingly, the cytotoxicity of NK cells was not impaired, but interferon-γ (IFN-γ) secretion by NK cells was markedly reduced in CD160−/− mice. Functionally targeting CD160 signaling with a soluble CD160-Ig also impaired tumor control and IFN-γ production, suggesting an active role of CD160 signaling. Using reciprocal bone marrow transfer and cell culture, we have identified the intrinsic role of CD160 on NK cells, as well as its receptor on non-NK cells, for regulating cytokine production. To demonstrate sufficiency of the CD160+ NK cell subset in controlling NK-dependent tumor growth, intratumoral transfer of the CD160+ NK fraction led to tumor regression in CD160−/− tumor-bearing mice, indicating demonstrable therapeutic potential for controlling early tumors. Therefore, CD160 is not only an important biomarker but also functionally controls cytokine production by NK cells.</P>

Large capacity reactive power compensation and harmonic control in the low-voltage grid of an enterprise, are important technical means to improve power quality and reduce power loss. In this paper, the principle of an efficient power quality controller is analyzed. Then, key application technologies of the HPQC which would influence the performances of the HPQC are studied. Based on an analysis of the harmonic shunt problem, a frequency dividing control strategy of the HPQC continuous subsystem is proposed. A parameter design method of the HPQC discrete subsystem and its installation method are also proposed to ensure the system compensation effect. HPQC systems have been designed for a copper foil plant. The effectiveness of this paper has been verified by the simulation and application results.

The changes of protein digestibility, the peptidesin the digestive juice and angiotensin I converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitory activity after heating of oysters wereinvestigated. The digestibility of raw oysters was 71.1%,and that of oysters heated at 100 C was 67.9%. A total of169 and 370 peptides were identified from the digestion ofraw oysters and heated oysters, respectively. According toUPLC-Q-TOF-MS spectra, the peptides with a molecularweight below 2000 Da accounted for 87.6% of the totalpeptides of raw oysters and 94% of heated oysters. Testingthe ACE inhibitory activity in vitro, the IC50 values of rawoyster and cooked oyster were 6.77 lg/mL and 3.34 lg/mL, respectively. Taken together, the results showed thatheated oysters could produce more active peptides andprovide ACE inhibitory activity.

The different polymorphisms of the transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) gene promote variances in diabetes susceptibility in humans. We investigated whether these genotypes also promote differences in diabetic susceptibility in commercial pigs. Growing pigs (Landrace, both sex, 50-60 kg) with the C/C (n=4) and T/T (n=5) TCF7L2 genotypes were identified and intravenously injected with streptozotocin (STZ, 40 mg/kg) twice in weekly intervals, then a high-energy diet was offered. Oral glucose tolerance tests, blood analyses and the homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index calculations were performed. The animals were sacrificed at the end of 12 weeks of treatment to reveal the pancreas histomorphometry. The results showed that all of the treated pigs grew normally despite exhibiting hyperglycemia at two weeks after the induction. The glycemic level of the fasting or postprandial pigs gradually returned to normal. The fasting insulin concentration was significantly decreased for the T/T carriers but not for the C/C carriers, and the resulting HOMA-IR index was significantly increased for the C/C genotype, indicating that the models of insulin dependence and resistance were respectively developed by T/T and C/C carriers. The histopathological results illustrated a significant reduction in the pancreas mass and insulin active sites, which suggested increased damage. The results obtained here could not be compared with previous studies because the TCF7L2 background has not been reported. Growing pigs may be an excellent model for diabetic in children if the animals are genetically pre-selected.
Effect of atorvastatin on dendritic cells of tubulointerstitium in diabetic rats
( Ya Fang Tu ),( Ru Han Jia ),( Guo Hua Ding ),( Ling Chen ) 한국생화학분자생물학회 (구 한국생화학회) 2010 BMB Reports Vol.43 No.3
Inflammatory reactology has become increasingly important in diabetic kidney disease. In this study, we estabilished STZ-induced diabetic rat model to investigate whether dendritic cells (DCs) mediated tubulointerstitial damages, and whether the effects by DCs were mediated by P-selectin expression and can be inhibited by atorvastatin. The study demonstrated that there was an accumulation of DCs in diabetic rats mediated by P-selectin. It also showed the accumulation of DCs and expression of P-selectin was closely correlated with the degree of renal tubulointerstitial injury. These effects were markedly attenuated by atorvastatin. Thus, DCs play a role in tubulointerstitial damages, atorvasttin can prevent renal tubulointerstitium from damage by inhibiting the P-selectin expression and DCs migration.
