색채와 음계의 감각적 연관성을 반영한 직관적 악보 기입법 개발 연구 -먼셀의 10색상환을 중심으로-

본 연구는 음악의 구조와 패턴을 사용자가 직관적으로 인식할 수 있는 악보 기입법을 제안 하고자, Munsell의 10가지 색상환을 활용한 설문 조사를 통해 색조/채도/명도와 음계의 감각적 연관성을 반영한 36음계들의 색깔 시스템을 만들었다. 새로운 악보 기입법을 활용해, 기존 악보; '엘리제를 위하여 (Für Elise, Beethoven, 1810)' 번역하고, 설문조사를 통해 유용성과 한계를 검토하였다. 그 결과, 새로운 악보 시스템은 사람들이 색깔과 음계를 직관적으로 연결시켜, 악보를 이루는 음계의 높낮이를 보다 쉽게 인식할 수 있게 한다는 효과가 있었다. 또한 반복되는 리듬과 음의 변화를 시각적으로 명료하게 보여줄 수 있었으며, 원의 크기의 차이로 강약을 쉽게 구분할 수 있었다. 하지만 음계 하나 하나를 정확히 이해하는 것이 어렵고, 색조/채도/명도 그리고 원의 크기가 모두 강약을 나타낼 수 있어, 혼란을 만들 수 있다는 한계가 있었다. 본 연구는 색을 단순한 과학적 측정을 통한 물리적 수치에 따른 색체계가 아닌 인간의 보편화 감각에 따른 지각적 결과에 기반 한 감각적 색 체계를 고려하여, 색/음계 시스템을 구축하였다는 점. 이를 통해, 악보가 단순한 매뉴얼의 기능을 넘어서, 심미적 가치를 가질 수 있게 하고, 나아가 악보 안에 존재하는 음악의 구조와 패턴을 사용자가 직관적으로 인식할 수 있는, 사용자 친화적인 악보 기입법을 제안하였다는 점에 핵심 의의가 있다. This study has been focused on developing an music notation system, to make users understand the pattern and system of the music in a Intuitive way. Focusing on the Munsell Color Chart (1930), the research creates 36 notes color system by utilizing the sensible relationship between the notes and Hue/Chroma/Lightness. The research transcribed Für Elise, Beethoven, 1810 and examine the accomplishments and limitations of the new notation system. As a result, the new notation system can helps people understand the change of the music tone easily, sense the repetition and variations of the rhythm by the structure of patterns, distinguish the strength/weakness of the notes by the size of each circle. As a limitation, it could be hard to recognize detail of the notes and, among chroma, lightness and size, it is confusing to determine which ones is the criteria of strength/weakness of each note. The significance of the research is that it suggests the intuitive way of transcribing the structure and pattern of the complex music by developing sensible color-music tone system.
Self-assembled Hexameric Apo2L/TRAIL Complex Improves Tumor Apoptosis Efficacy in vitro and in vivo

Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a cytokine that causes cell apoptosis, i.e., cell death, upon specific binding to the death receptor highly expressed on the surface of tumor cells but minimally on normal cells. Therefore, TRAIL has a potential as a targeted anticancer agent. However, its functionally active form, homo-trimer, is non-covalently associated and susceptible to decomposition. Nevertheless, efforts are being made to stabilize the trimeric conformation and further improve its efficacy by designing TRAIL oligomers which stimulate superclustering of the death receptors and subsequently amplify apoptotic signaling pathways. Here, we have constructed a novel hexameric TRAIL scaffold consisting of two complementary single-chain TRAILs (scTRAIL), each of which was expressed separately in bacterial system and assembled by simple mixing. We employed the microscale thermophoresis to examine the affinity of the scaffold towards the death receptor, as well as the strength of self-assembly. In vitro and in vivo studies have shown strong therapeutic efficacy of the scaffold in TRAIL-resistant U87-luc cells and HCT116-luc xenografted mouse model.
To Rain, or Not To Rain, That is the Issue : The Role of Storm in Macbeth and King Lear

The paper analyzes the role of storm in William Shakespeare’s plays, Macbeth and King Lear as interactive counterparts to the characters and audiences in the theater due to ecophobia, human anxiety on uncontrollable weather. Previous researches have focused on the symbolical representation related to the characters as a simple dramatic setting but I would like to read storm as an active factor to create affective dramatic atmosphere. Moreover, by focusing on the existence of water during the storm in the plays, the storm with or without this natural element serves differentiation to indicate psychological growth of characters such as Macbeth and King Lear. As the weather actively resonates with the character and audience’s psychology, I argue the storm works not only as another antagonist in Macbeth like the three witches who initiate systemic conflict but also as a tool to lead a liminal state of character in King Lear, creating psychological growth. Further, this effect extends to the psychological state of the audiences in Renaissance theater. By reading the storm as a vital feature which engages the interaction though ecophobia, the paper provides how the storm could be reinterpreted in William Shakespeare’s plays and how it could help the stage to achieve psychological immersion from the audiences.

Purpose: This descriptive survey compared health literacy and health behaviors between Korean women with and without breast cancer. Methods: In total, 95 women with and 97 women without breast cancer (age range: 40-69 years) completed the survey. Health literacy and health behavior were analyzed in women with and without breast cancer, using the Newest Vital Sign. Results: Women with breast cancer were less frequently alcohol drinkers (14.7% vs. 47.4%, p < .001) and more frequently exercised (65.3% vs. 49.5%, p = .027), obtained health information (17.9% vs. 8.2%, p = .047), and attended health education programs (10.5% vs. 1.0%, p = .005) than women without cancer. In both groups, women with higher literacy levels outnumbered those with limited literacy. Conclusion: The results indicated that women with breast cancer were more likely to engage in health-promotion activities than women without cancer, and this increased their health literacy levels. The findings could inform interventions involving breast cancer prevention methods.

Using the Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies (MSJCC) framework in a single case study, this research explored the subjective experiences of an immigrant school counselor regarding social justice advocacy for immigrant students and their families in urban contexts. Through Strauss and Corbin (1990)’s data analysis, eight themes were identified from the interview: (a) professional identity, (b) shared experience as an immigrant, (c) cultural adjustment, (d) special bonding, (e) cultural sensitivity, (f) cultural intentionality, (g) culturally responsive practice, and (h) influence of political climate. Implication for school counselors and the counseling research are discussed.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease. The interleukin-1β, plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of OA. Dicaffeoylquinic acid has been known as a potential medicine to alleviate symptoms of inflammation. we aimed to evaluate the anti-osteoarthritis‘s effect of 4,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid (4,5-diCQA) on IL-1β-stimulated chondrocytes. Primary rat chondrocytes were pre-treated with 4,5-diCQA for 1 h before stimulation with IL-1β (0.2 ug/mL). The production of nitrite, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and aggrecan was measured by Griess reagent and ELISA. The protein expression of iNOS, COX-2, MMP-1, MMP-3, MMP-13, ADMATS-4, and the NF-κB p65 subunit was measured by western blot. Oral administration of 4,5-diCQA was injected at 5, 10, and 20 mg/kg of body weight. 4,5-diCQA decreased the IL-1β-induced expression of nitrite, iNOS, PGE2, COX-2, MMP-1, MMP-3, MMP-13, ADAMTS-4, degradation of aggrecan, and phosphorylation of NF-κB p65 subunit in primary rat chondrocytes. 4,5-diCQA suppressed DMM-induced OA. 4,5-diCQA may be a potential therapeutic agent for OA progression.
