        The writer aimed at making a reexamination of the reform bill for Chinese Characters in people's Republic of China, and analyzed on the phonograms or abbriviated forms of Chinese Characters which have been simplified or Romanized since 1949. In a word, there are three kinds of theoretical foundation on the view against the reform bill of the authorities in P.R.C. First, they maintain the simple developmental theory of Chinese Characters that have been changed from the complexity to the simplicity. Secondly, they insist on the four difficulties of the Chinese Characters in writing, memorizing, understanding and using. Thirdly, they emphasize the world tendency to the phonetic representation of the ideograms. Using these views as a basis, they aim at the abolition of Chinese Characters in the end. Finally, the writer made a point in this paper. It was as follows : the simplification or Romanization of Chinese Characters should be advanced moderately with the scopes of the traditional basic structure of them, and should be circumscribed within the narrow bounds.

        Many studies revealed the neuroprotective, cardioprotective, and chemopreventive actions of dietary flavonoids. The plausible mechanistic interpretation of the various effects of flavonoids was concentrated on the anti-oxidant or free radical-scavenging properties of these phytochernicals, both in model systems and under in vivo conditions. While there has been a major focus on the anti-oxidant properties. there is an emerging view that flavonoids and their in vivo metabolites. do not act as conventional hydrogen-donating anti-oxidants. but they may exert regulatory functions in cells through actions at protein kinase or lipid kinase signaling pathways. Flavonoids and more recently their metabolites. have been reported to act at phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI 3-kinase). Akt/protein kinase B(Akt/PKB), protein kinase C (PKC), mitogen activated protein kinase(MAP kinase), and various tyrosine kinases signaling cascades. Inhibitory or stimulatory actions at these pathways are likely to affect cellular function profoundly by altering the phosphorylation state of target molecules and by modulating gene expression. A clear understanding of the mechanisms of action of flavonoids, either as anti-oxidants or modulators of cellular signaling pathways, and the influence of their metabolism on these properties are key to the evaluation of these potent biomolecules as anti-cancer agents, cardio-protectants, and inhibitors of neurodegeneration.

        이 論文은 中共의 權力鬪爭에 內在하는 『紅』과 『專』의 機能 및 屬性을 把握하는데 目的을 두고 있다. 結論的으로, 1949年 10月 以後, 이른바 共産主義人才養成에 대한 毛澤東과 劉少奇의 相致된 見解에서 비롯된 『紅』과 『專』은 華國鋒과 鄧小平에 이르기까지, 中共의 權力鬪爭에 潛在하는 基本要素로 作用하여왔다. 이는 곧 中共 內部의 兩大派閥이라 할 毛派와 劉派 사이에 나타난 路線分岐의 出發點이라 하겠으며, 어느 一方의 『紅』과 『專』에 의한 政治社會化의 成就度는 곧 中共의 對內外政策性向을 示唆하는 것이라 하겠다. 따라서, 우리(韓國)의 立場에서 必要로 하는 對中共政策을 能動的으로 樹立하기 위하여서는 -오늘날 鄧小平에 의하여 主導되는 實用路線이 中共의 對內外政策性向을 代表하고 있다 하더라도- 上記 紅專關係의 動向과 그 政治社會化 狀況을 持續的으로 또 正確하게 把握하고 그 資料를 累績시켜야 할 것이다.

        Fabrication of Nano- and Micro-Scale UV Imprint Stamp Using Diamond-Like Carbon Coating Technology

        <P>Two-dimensional (2-D) and three-dimensional (3-D) diamond-like carbon (DLC) stamps for ultraviolet nanoimprint lithography were fabricated with two methods: namely, a DLC coating process, followed by focused ion beam lithography; and two-photon polymerization patterning, followed by nanoscale-thick DLC coating. We used focused ion beam lithography to fabricate 70 nm deep lines with a width of 100 nm, as well as 70 nm deep lines with a width of 150 nm, on 100 nm thick DLC layers coated on quartz substrates. We also used two-photon polymerization patterning and a DLC coating process to successfully fabricate 200 nm wide lines, as well as 3-D rings with a diameter of 1.35 <I>μ</I>m and a height of 1.97 <I>μ</I>m, and a 3-D cone with a bottom diameter of 2.88 <I>μ</I>m and a height of 1.97 <I>μ</I>m. The wafers were successfully printed on an UV-NIL using the DLC stamps without an anti-adhesive layer. The correlation between the dimensions of the stamp's features and the corresponding imprinted features was excellent.</P>

        스마트폰 이용동기와 활용능력이 스마트패드 사용의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

        The growing interest in smartphones has increased the number of studies conducted on technology acceptance and user satisfaction. It is now over two years since the launching of smartphones, but there are not many researches on the usage behavior of today’s smartphone users. Smart devices have evolved from smartphone to smart pad and smart TV, but there are still not many studies on variables such as knowledge about the parent product and the ability to use it. With this, I decided to study how the motivation and the ability of using smartphones affected the smartphone user’s intention to use smartpads. This study presents the usage behavior of smartphone users and proves that the ability to use a parent product (smartphone) affects the user’s intention to use an extension product (smartpad). The research results showed that the smartphone usage ability affected both variety of use and rate of use. The convenience and passing time factors affected variety of use; and the social interaction, entertainment and passing time factors affected rate of use. As for the intention to use smartpads, the smartphone usage ability and variety of use positively affected the smartphone user’s intention to use smartpads. This study showed that the more the user used a smartphone to pass time and for convenience, the more effectively the user could use various functions. It proves that the variety of use of smartphone is highly related to the acceptance of smartpads. This study also proves that usage ability is an important factor in using innovative products, such as smart devices.

      • A hydrophobic ligand-binding protein of the Taenia solium metacestode mediates uptake of the host lipid: Implication for the maintenance of parasitic cellular homeostasis

        <P>Parasitic organisms are incapable of de novo fatty acid synthesis due to a down-regulated expression of enzymes involved in the oxygen-dependent pathway. We investigated the uptake of host lipids by a 150-kDa hydrophobic ligand-binding protein (HLBP) of Taenia solium metacestode, an agent causative of neurocysticercosis. The protein was found to be a hetero-oligomeric complex consisting of multiple subunits (M<SUB>r</SUB> 7, 10, and 15 kDa within pH 8.0–9.7), which may originate from four unique genes of 7- and 10-kDa gene families with 2–3 polymorphic alleles/paralogs. The 15-kDa protein represented glycosylated forms of the 10-kDa. With high binding affinity to lipid analogs, these subunits evidenced high-level sequence identity with other cestode HLBPs and form a novel clade associated with excretory–secretory type HLBP. In vitro experiments with viable worms suggested that the excreted 150-kDa protein might bind to lipids, and participate in the translocation of host lipids across the syncytial membrane. This process was substantially inhibited by the specific anti-150 kDa antibodies. The protein was localized in the parasite syncytium and in the lipid droplets within host granuloma wall, where significant lipase activity was expressed. HLBP-mediated uptake of the host lipid may be critical for the parasite survival and thus could be targeted by chemotherapeutics and/or vaccine.</P>

        기상 자기조립박막 법을 이용한 나노임프린트용 점착방지막 형성 및 특성평가

        Nanoimprint lithography (NIL) is a new lithographic method that offers a sub-10nm feature size, high throughput, and low cost. One of the most serious problems of NIL is the stiction between mold and resist. The antistiction layer coating is very effective to prevent this stiction and ensure the successful NIL results. In this paper, an antistiction layer was deposited by VSAM (vapor self assembly monolayer) method on silicon samples with FOTS (perfluoroctyltrichlorosilane) as a precursor for making an antistiction layer. A specially designed LPCVD (low pressure chemical vapor deposition) was used for this experiment. All experiments were achieved after removing the humidity. First, the evaporation test of FOTS was performed for checking the evaporation temperature at low pressure. FOTS was evaporated at 5 Tow and $110^{\circ}C$. In order to evaluate the temperature effect on antistiction layer, chamber temperature was changed from 50 to $170^{\circ}C$ with 0.1ml of FOTS for 1 minute. Good hydrophobicity of all samples was shown at about $110^{\circ}$ of contact angle and under $20^{\circ}$ of hysteresis. The surface energies of all samples calculated by Lewis acid/base theory was shown to be about 15mN/m. The deposited thicknesses of all samples measured by ellipsometry were almost 1nm that was similar value of the calculated molecular length. The surface roughness of all samples was not changed after deposition but the friction force showed relatively high values and deviations deposited at under $110^{\circ}$. Also the white circles were founded in LFM images under $110^{\circ}$. High friction forces were guessed based on this irregular deposition. The optimized VSAM process for FOTS was achieved at $170^{\circ}C$, 5 Torr for 1 hour. The hot embossing process with 4 inch Si mold was successfully achieved after VSAM deposition.

        Cytological Characterization of Interspecific Hybrids in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

        The wild species of Oryza are an important source of useful genes for resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses in rice. In this study, wide hybridization was used to widen the genepool of japonica rice cultivars. Interspecific crosses were made between three japonica rice cultivars and four wild species of the genus Oryza. Hybrids were produced normally through crosses between O. sativa (AA genome) and O. rufipogon (AA genome). However, hybrids between O. sativa and other distantly related wild species such as O. officinalis (CC genome), O. minuta (BBCC genome), and O. alta (CCDD genome) were produced following hybridization and embryo rescue. The hybrids were intermediate in their morphological characters, compared with the parents of cultivated and wild species. The hybrids between O. sativa and O. rufipogon were partially sterile but the hybrids between O. sativa and O. officinalis, O. sativa and O. minuta, O. sativa and O. alta were completely sterile. Cytological analysis of the interspecific hybrids, AA x CC, AA x BBCC, AA x CCDD showed irregular meiosis with predominant occurrence of univalents and unequal distribution of chromosomes at anaphase 1 of meiosis. Genomic In-situ Hybridization (GISH) analysis showed the presence of O. minuta chromosomes in the F₁ hybrids between O. sativa and O. minuta cross.

        Expression of Antimicrobial Peptides Such as LL-37 and hBD-2 in Nonlesional Skin of Atopic Individuals

        <P>Abstract: </P><P>Recurrent skin infection is one of the major complications of atopic dermatitis and can be partly explained by decreased expression of antimicrobial peptides such as human &bgr;-defensin-2 and cathelicidin (LL-37). In the human epidermis, human &bgr;-defensin-2 is packed in the lamellar body and LL-37 is co-localized with intercellular lipid lamellae of the stratum corneum; together, these antimicrobial peptides constitute the primary defense system. IL-1&agr;, a potent inducer of LL-37 and human &bgr;-defensin-2, is also secreted from the disrupted epidermis for barrier homeostasis. In this study, we investigated whether expression of human &bgr;-defensin-2 and LL-37 is constitutively decreased in the skin of atopic individuals. Nonlesional foreskins from atopic (n = 7) and nonatopic (n = 7) individuals were analyzed. The expression of LL-37, human &bgr;-defensin-2 and IL-1&agr; was analyzed using immunohistochemical staining, Western blot, and real-time polymerase chain reaction. Lamellar body density and secretion were evaluated by electron microscope. Quantitative analysis showed that the expression of each parameter was not significantly different between groups. Thus, basal expression of LL-37 and human &bgr;-defensin-2 was not changed in atopic individuals. These results indicate that the expression of antimicrobial peptides at baseline was not different between nonlesional skin of atopic individuals and normal skin of nonatopic individuals.</P>
