• A Proposal for Popularization and Globalization of Traditional Martial Arts

        ( Eui Hwan Kim ) 대한무도학회 2019 대한무도학회 학술대회자료집 Vol.2019 No.2

Each country and the continental union has developed its traditional martial arts, techniques, and virtues. For instance, China owns Wushu and Kungfu, Japan has Karate and Sumo while Taekkyun and Taekwondo are Korean traditional martial arts. South Korea has tried to register their traditional martial arts, Taekwondo, to the sports’ list of International Olympic Committee and endeavored to dominate martial arts sports of Olympic Games such as Judo and Taekwondo to succeed the national prestige. (Lee Shi-Jong and Kim Eui-Hwan, 2008) Moreover, Teakkyun and Ssireum, traditional Korean martial arts, have been registered to UNESCO heritage. According to the Korean Dictionary edited by the National Institute of Korean Language, the general meanings of Martial Arts (Mu-ye), Martial Virtue (Mu-do), and Martial Techniques (Mu-sool) are: Mu-do is broader terminology which includes martial techniques and arts, and also prone to mental and philosophical meanings of MA. Mu-sool is martial techniques relating to kicking, fisticuffs, horse riding, using weapons and so on. Particularly, Mu-sool emphasizes the techniques of individual fights. Mu-ye is ‘martial arts’ emphasizing the technical aspect of martial virtues such as how to improve physical strength and weapon skills aiming to express the aesthetic of martial skills.

Subject performed 5 successful trials respectively, with parter (Uke) was resistance (R-0%) of judo-doll. Muscle activities were obtained from the electromyography analysis. Muscle activities in all phase, Taiwanese were lower than Korean, right Bicep, Trapezius, Tibialis muscles in Kuzushi phase, right Bicep, right Trapezius, left Rectus abdominus in Tsukuri and Kake phase, different between Taiwanese and Korean were signify (p < .5).

      • Effect of Ionizing Radiation on Rat Tissue: Proteomic and Biochemical Analysis

        Park*, Eui,Chul,Yoon, Jong‐,Bok,Seong*, Jin‐,Sil,Choi, Kyoung‐,Soo,Kong, Eung‐,Sik,Kim, Yun‐,Jeong,Park, Young‐,Mee,Park, Eun‐,Mi Taylor Francis 2006 Preparative biochemistry & biotechnology Vol.36 No.1

Reactive oxygen species (ROS), generated by ionizing radiation, has been implicated in its effect on living tissues. We confirmed the changes in the oxidative stress markers upon irradiation. We characterized the changes in the proteome profile in rat liver after administering irradiation, and the affected proteins were identified by MALDI-TOF-MS and ESI-MS/MS. The identified proteins represent diverse sets of proteins participating in the cellular metabolism. Our results demonstrated that proteomics analysis is a useful method for characterization of a global proteome change caused by ionizing radiation to unravel the molecular mechanisms involved in the cellular responses to ionizing radiation.

Primary intraosseous carcinoma of the mandible

        Hwang, Eui-Hwan,Choi, Yong-Suk,Lee, Sang-Rae 대한구강악안면방사선학회 2005 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.35 No.4

A very uncommon tumor, primary intraosseous carcinoma (PIOC), is a carcinoma arising within the jaw. The definite diagnosis of PIOC is often difficult as the lesion must be distinguished from alveolar carcinoma that may invade the bone from the overlying soft tissues or from the tumors that have metastasized to the jaw from a distant site. A case of PIOC arising in the mandible is presented. The clinical, radiologic, and histologic features are described. This rare lesion should be considered in any differential diagnosis of a jaw radiolucency.

        Cone beam형 전산화단층촬영에 의한 흡수선량

        이의태,김규태,최용석,황의환 대한구강악안면방사선학회 2007 Imaging Science in Dentistry Vol.37 No.2

Purpose : To measure the absorbed doses of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), which is recently being more frequently used, and to compare them with those of panoramic radiography. Materials and Methods : To measure the absorbed doses of CBCT (PSR-9000N, Asahi Roentgen Ind. Co., Japan), we placed TLD chips on the skin regions above the parotid and thyroid glands, and on the dorsum of tongue in a dental head phantom. We used two image acquisition modes of the Dental and Panoramic modes of CBCT, which differed in the field of view. Also, panoramic radiographs (Auto IIIN, Asahi Roentgen Ind. Co., Japan) were taken to compare with the absorbed doses of CBCT. Result : In the Dental mode of CBCT, the absorbed doses of the parotid gland, dorsum of tongue, and thyroid gland were 3.53, 3.13, and 0.36 mGy, respectively. In the Panoramic mode of CBCT, they were 9.57, 9.15, and 0.85 mGy, respectively. The panoramic mode showed higher absorbed doses than those of the Dental mode. In the panoramic radiography, the absorbed doses of the parotid gland, dorsum of tongue, and thyroid gland were 1.21, 1.19, and 0.16 mGy, respectively. And they were about 1/3 of the Dental mode and 1/9 of the Panoramic mode of CBCT. Conclusion : Absorbed doses of CBCT are higher than those of panoramic radiography, and dependent upon the field of view.

        이상철,김의영,김의영,한창효 龍仁大學校 武道硏究所 2002 武道硏究所誌 Vol.13 No.1

This study focuses on reestablishing martial arts and sports education based on existing educational capabilities in Korean martial arts education to facilitate the localization of Korean culture around the world. Furthermore, the study intends to globalize our own martial arts and apply Yongmoo-do practices to different guard situations, which were originally developed on a great ambition to enhance the position of Korean martial arts in the 21st century as the beginning of new millennium. Guard or escort exists for just a moment which implies accidental emergency. Upon any occurrence of such emergency, the success of guard duty depends on how much rapidly and safely clients can be protected. Therefore, a bodyguard or escort who performs guard duty could face a variety of accidental emergencies so that they must be usually trained with proper martial arts in various way. Yongmoo-do is designed to enable bodyguards to safely deal with unexpected accidents by practical martial skills such as strike, kick, throws(mechigi), snap, neck wring and other skills using weapon. In addition, Yongmoo-do also allows guards to raise their defense capability and survivability against accidental threatening attacks from any suspicious criminal. As described above, it is noted that Yongmoo-do has high applicability enough to meet both safety and self-defense requirements. Thus, it is expected that Yongmnoo-do practices will facilitate trainees to master its theories and phased basic skills so that they can be trained in scheduled and formulated ways based on countermeasures and guard/escort techniques against any occurrence of emergency. Moreover, they will be likely to feel more actuality through an approach of guard martial art according to harmful elements under the simulated guard formation by different situations.
