In this paper, a workload balancing problem in a shop consisting of parallel molding machine is considered. There are multiple workers, parallel identical machines and different jobs to be processed, and more than one machine can be assigned to a worker. The problem is to minimize the variation of workload among the workers. A mathematical model is developed for the problem and genetic algorithm we introduce a new genotype and it is tested with an example problem.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis(LCH) appears to arise from Langerhans cell and comprises a spectrum of clinical disease previously described in the literature by a variety of eponyms including histiocytosis X, eosinophilic granuloma, Hand-Christian disease, and Letterer Siwe syndrome. This rare disorder occurs in all groups, predominently affecting children & young adults. LCH has a wide spectrum of clinical features. The differentiation of several forms of this disease is primarily a clinical and not a histologic one. The radiographic characteristics include the appearance of solitary "intraosseous" lesios, the multipicity of "alveolar bone" lesions, the bone lesions, periosteal new bone formation, and slight root resorption. Prognosis of a single bone lesion, is known to be excellent. In contrast, disseminated disease has seen associated with a chronic course, a high rate of morbidity and late consequences, and possible mortality. Treatment of LCH remains problematic. Treatment of multisystem disease, where organ function is being compromised has generally been with high-dose systemic corticosteroids or multiple chemotherapy.

In this paper, we consider a problem of determining optimal credit period and ordering lot size from the perspective of supplier. We assume that a supplier knows how the retailer determines the unit retail price and order size to maximize his/her profit when the supplier offers a trade credit for the product. Two widely used demand function, in which we assume that demands are decreasing function of the retail price, are used in this study. Mathematical models for the supplier-retailer system are developed and a solution procedure is presented which shows how to achieve an optimal length of trade credit and procurement lot size for the supplier. A sensitivity analysis for the variable that is related to the procurement lot size the supplier is also carried out.

The need for reliable products and reliability analysis became apparent in the age of customer satisfaction. To make products most attractive, first of all, customer complaints on current products must be gathered and analyzed. This article shows a case on the development of a reliability analysis system based on field data. Field data takes the form of A/S(After Sales Support) data. The characteristics of A/S data prohibit the exact calculation of theoretical reliability because of unavailibility of operating time and conditions. In this system, a reliability model was built by use of calendar time and field operating conditions. To estimate the reliability of products or failure modes, empirical distributions based on actuarial method were used and true distribution function could be fitted. And many functions needed to analyse reliability related data were implemented on personal computer via system analysis and design techniques.

The aim of this article is to indentify the basic properties of optical fiber and to enlarge the sphere of observation study by using it in astronomical instruments. In addition we will search the possibility of optics application through astronomical observation experiment using optical fiber. We arranged basic properties about optical fiber, such as the principle of penetration of optical fiber, transmission properties and its treatment techniques. We also measured attenuation(α) and projection rate(P) of optics transmission through the experiment of 1mm Φand 3mm Φfiber using 16inch cassegrain reflector and photoelectric photometry and K.U.A.O.(Kongju University Astronomical Observatory). From the result of studying the application field of optical fiber, we are able to expect the development of various observation technique, great enlargement of observation study field and elevation of accuracy rate. Through the observation experiment we can attract the following results. 1. The attenuation of plastic fiber is all 0.1dB/m in U. B. V. filter. 2. The loss of optics in optical fiber edge section in more than 0.6. 3. The loss in short plastic fiber is due to the loss in edge section. We can lead the following conclusion about the use of plastic fiber from above results. 1. The attenuation of plastic fiber is larger than that of silica fiber, but it doestn`t matter if only we use it in a short length. 2. Plastic fiber is easy to treat edge section because of low fusion point, and its diameter is so large that we can use the optical fiber in astronomical observation instruments, if we can reduce the loss rate by reflection with improving the edge section treatment technique of plastic fiber.

A composite B-pillar was designed and manufactured by design optimization combined with an impact analysis. A carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) was used for the reinforcement part of the B-pillar assembly to substitute the conventional steel materials for reducing the weight of vehicle. To maximize the impact performance by finite element method, the equivalent static loads method was used. The shape, stacking sequence, and thickness of the CFRP reinforcement were optimized to minimize the deflection profile for improving the crashworthiness while reducing the weight. The designed CFRP B-pillar was manufactured and its performance was evaluated by a drop weight test. As a result, the CFRP B-pillar exhibited an improved impact performance and reduced weight compared to those of the conventional steel B-pillar.

Among the Araliaceae plants indigenous to Korea, those whose medicinal usage are comparatively high have been selected in this serial studies. Chiisanoside and acanthoside D were isolated and identified from the Acanthopanax chinensis leaves and root bark. Chiisanoside and acanthoside D have been found to have the lowering S-GPT, S-GOT value and BSP-retention rate and survival rate, anti-histaminic effect in the toxic state through the bio-pharmacological experiments. α-hederin, hederagenin pentaglycoside were isolated both stem bark of Kalopanax pictum Nakai var. magnificum and Kalopanax pictum Nakai var. Max. respectively. Syringoside, acanthoside D were also isolated from the root bark of Acanthopanax koreanum. The biological activity of ginsenoside Rb₁, Rg₁, Re were examined. Ginsenoside Rb₁, Rg₁, Re promotes the antileaking effect in X-ray (Co 60) irradiated toxic state.
